russian layout, but everything is perfect if layout is english.

I have simple "qwerty" keyboard on my both computers.

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2015-01-17 Thread Mathew Hodson
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

- Can't set keyboard layout change to ctrl+shift, Caps Lock, alt+shift
- etc. "Shift", "CapsLock" keys are just ignored in settings.
+ Can't set keyboard layout change to Ctrl+Shift, Caps Lock, Alt+Shift,
+ etc. Shift, Caps Lock keys are just ignored in settings.

  [Test Case]

  - open gnome-control-center's text input settings
  - click on the "next layout key" entry
  - try entering a combination of two modifier keys such as Ctrl+Shift
-> the UI should reflect the new keys

  - add at least two input sources through gnome-control-center's text entry
settings
- - press and release ctrl+left shift
+ - press and release Ctrl+Shift
-> the current input source should change

  [Regression Potential]

That UI was not working before, it should only be an improvement (some
key combos are not working as expected, that's another issue and
shouldn't be mixed with this one)

The input switching shortcut might capture other non-modifier shortcuts,
but users will need to consider this when choosing their switching
shortcut anyways. For users this bug affects, this represents a working
  solution for a critical bug.

[Bug 483541] Re: File-roller drag'n drop is unreliable

2015-01-17 Thread Didier L
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 878993 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878993

I don't think the duplicate status is wrong because the other bug is a
lockup of the whole X, while this is only an error message.

I also experiment this error message on Ubuntu 14.10. There is clearly a
problem in the path that is shown in the error message. For example right now I
got:
“You don't have the right permissions to extract archives in the folder
"xds.txtules"”
The “xds.txt” part is always constant while the end “ules” is actually the end
of the name of one of the parent folders (in this case, the 11th parent folder,
which has a depth of 9 from / so its seems to be in the middle of the full
path).

I was unable to determine what would trigger this but for me it occurs
currently once in 3 times. Another time in 3, the drag and drop simply
does nothing (or at least there is no feedback) so in the in it seems to
work only one third of the time…

When i then again shut off and turn back on my laptop the problem persists...

- I can't find any documentation on the configuration of policykit-

[Bug 453605] Re: Make default mount umasks configurable

2015-01-17 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
P.S. completely removing dmask from the mount options and letting
/media/username "cover" the permission issues,
couples well with UDISKS_FILESYSTEM_SHARED,
so that people that want USB drives to be shared across users,
can just specify UDISKS_FILESYSTEM_SHARED="1" in udev for those drives.

Then /media/mountpoint will be world-readable for vfat/ntfs, as expected
(as opposed to /media/username/mountpoint which is protected with the default
UDISKS_FILESYSTEM_SHARED="0").

** No longer affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)

[Bug 453605] Re: Make default mount umasks configurable

2015-01-17 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Quotting pitti from comment #2:
> We won't change the behaviour in udisks, there needs to be some default after
> all.

Please completely remove dmask from the vfat/ntfs mount options, like fmask
already is (absent).
Patch available at LP #482501.

I assume that dmask=0077 was added at some point in order to protect the
contents of the mountpoint?
Nowadays, all user-mounted media is protected by the attributes of the parent
directory, /media/username.
guest@pc:~$ ls /media/alkisg
ls: cannot open directory /media/alkisg: Permission denied

Inside /media/username/mountpoint, directories and files should be
world-readable to behave better when copied elsewhere (LP #592748), e.g. in
~/Documents, which is supposed to be world-readable by default.
For example, ~/.local is drwx-- but ~/.local/share is drwxr-xr-x,
similarly, /media/username should be drwx-- and
/media/username/mountpoint/folders should be drwxr-xr-x.

For people needing a quick workaround, and since none exists yet, here's a
really bad one that nevertheless does work for me:
# For the newer udisks2:
sudo sed 's/dmask=[0-9]\{4\}/dmask=0022/' -i /usr/lib/udisks2/udisksd
# For the older udisks:
sudo sed 's/dmask=[0-9]\{4\}/dmask=0022/' -i /usr/lib/udisks/udisks-daemon
# And reboot.

If udisks/udisks2 don't get fixed in some reasonable time, I'll upload
patches packages for the LTS Ubuntu releases in the Greek Schools PPA.
Unfortunately that'll be a pain, especially for udisks updates.

About configurability in nautilus, I don't think it will be needed if
dmask gets removed. And in any case configurability belongs in udisks,
not in packages that use udisks, because then every package that uses
udisks should provide such an option.

Thanks!

[Bug 1218322] Re: Can't set keyboard layout change to alt+shift, ctrl+shift, etc.

2015-01-17 Thread Norbert
** Tags removed: amd64

** Description changed:

  [Impact]

Can't set keyboard layout change to ctrl+shift, Caps Lock, alt+shift
etc. "Shift", "CapsLock" keys are just ignored in settings.

  [Test Case]

  - open gnome-control-center's text input settings
  - click on the "next layout key" entry
  - try entering a combination of two modifier keys such as Ctrl+Shift
-> the UI should reflect the new keys

  - add at least two input sources through gnome-control-center's text entry
settings
  - press and release ctrl+left shift
-> the current input source should change

  [Regression Potential]

That UI was not working before, it should only be an improvement (some
key combos are not working as expected, that's another issue and
shouldn't be mixed with this one)

The input switching shortcut might capture other non-modifier shortcuts,
but users will need to consider this when choosing their switching
shortcut anyways. For users this bug affects, this represents a working
  solution for a critical bug.

Test results for different keyboard layout change hotkeys may be viewed
and added in the Google Docs table, created by Norbert

  ProblemType: Bug
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10
  Package: indicator-keyboard 0.0.0+13.10.20130829.1-0ubuntu1
  ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-2.5-generic 3.11.0-rc5

UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)
