[Bug 116453] Re: evince can not find ü in attached PDF
hdante: the problem is that, despite appearances, the PDF in the bug description does not contain the word 'Über'. It contains the word 'Uber', without a diaresis. You can see this if you copy and paste from the document using any PDF reader, including adobe reader, google chrome, foxit, etc. There is a diaresis, but it is not really attached to the 'U'. Even so, adobe reader and chrome can still find something if you search the document for 'über'. What they seem to be doing is ignoring any diacratic marks, so if you search for 'über' (or even 'ubér') it will find 'Uber'. I was proposing similar behavior for poppler. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to poppler in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116453 Title: evince can not find ü in attached PDF To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/poppler/+bug/116453/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1413117] [NEW] icon captions on desktop don't disappear
Public bug reported: In nautilus, when I go to Edit -> Preferences -> Display -> icon captions, and change the highest order (first one) from None to Type (or anything else), this change is not applied to desktop icons and nothing happens to them. And when I set it back to None, Type captions (or whatever I selected at first) appear under desktop icons. This problem only occurs for desktop icons. It works fine for icons in other directories. Actually I expect that when I change icon captions from None to Type, type information of each file or directory appears under desktop icons, but nothing happens. And furthermore I expect that when I change it back to None, type information disappears, but they appear. I am using Ubuntu 14.04 amd64, so evince 3.10.3 and poppler 0.24.5. Evince prints a lot of messages like: Syntax Warning: font matrix not invertible<0a> while ghostscript renders the PDF correctly, but prints lots of: Warning: Invalid 0.0 font scale given for Tf Warning: /BBox has zero width or height, which is not allowed. so I suspect the PDF is defective, but poppler should be made more "fault tolerant" as ghostscript does. Otherwise, no boarding pass print anymore :-( I can fix the PDF with gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dSAFER -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=out.pdf in.pdf Reply at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/poppler/+bug/1412916/comments/0 On 2014-04-28T18:32:26+00:00 Albert Astals Cid wrote: Looks good in okular so it must be a cairo backend bug.
