[Bug 1168705] Re: Multiple monitors with different orientation leads to stretched wallpaper when waking up.

2015-02-02 Thread Furkan Alaca
I've confirmed that this bug is due to nautilus, but haven't been
successful in fixing it (except for a workaround, described at the end
of this post). The steps to reproduce the issue are:

1) Set the wallpaper using either the system settings dialog, or gsettings from
the terminal (either method will display the wallpaper correctly)
2) Shut down nautilus by typing "nautilus -q" in a terminal
3) Launch nautilus again, and the wallpaper proportions will now be incorrect
(the picture will be overly magnified on the larger monitor)

In upstream, gnome shell is now responsible for rendering the background, and
nautilus simply renders an invisible background over it and places the icons on
top, as per these 5 commits on Feb. 20th, 2013:
https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=f0f36c876e4810b190a82e3a953d9263c106447f
https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=9f99ba3506d5cf1584d9afa952e11aed17deac2f
https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=8b4a83ea80bf657cd8be754786e5f9daf7d5cc52
https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=07d2ca86237fac8b5bddc4e619e43dfc813bc5e7
https://git.gnome.org/browse/nautilus/commit/?id=372c60d3f8590280df23f457a67652adec369697

Applying the above patches to Ubuntu's nautilus gives strange results
(severe flickering). So for now, I just made myself a simple workaround.
I wrote the bash script below and added it to my startup applications:

#!/bin/bash
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-options "stretched"
sleep 5 # give a few seconds for the wallpaper to change
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-options "zoom"

Basically you need to change the wallpaper mode, and then change it back
to what you had originally (in my case "zoom"), and the wallpaper will
be redrawn corretly. I hope that helps whoever else might be
experiencing this bug.

[Bug 1417336] Re: keyboard crash

2015-02-02 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

Not sure any preferences were removed they were just most around with the new

[Bug 1270579] Re: On laptops, screen brightness isn't memorized between sessions

2015-02-02 Thread Jorge Juan
I wrote a couple of upstart scripts to save and retore brightness
between bootups. I hope the scripts are smart enough to run unmodified
in any system with /sys/class/backlight.

You can find them at bitbucket with install instructions:

https://bitbucket.org/jjchico/upstart-brightness

Quick manual:

cd /etc/init
sudo wget
https://bitbucket.org/jjchico/upstart-brightness/raw/d9a5d9484475eb1256d56c64b28e680a7aeae72c/brightness-store.conf
sudo wget
https://bitbucket.org/jjchico/upstart-brightness/raw/d9a5d9484475eb1256d56c64b28e680a7aeae72c/brightness-restore.conf

Test reports and patches are wellcome (these are my first upstart
scripts).

Enjoy!

your problem it seems it is using same old token.

Anyway, why is "evolution-data-server" marked as affected for this bug?
Shouldn't it be "evolution-data-server-online-accounts"?

[Bug 517021] Re: gvfsd-metadata causes 100% CPU usage

2015-02-02 Thread John Paul Adrian Glaubitz
Are you guys talking about the issue on NFS filesystems or local disks?

There have been two independent issues, the NFS issue was fixed in
around gvfs_1.17 while the other issue was fixed around gvfs_1.22.

NFS issue: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=624507
local issue: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=756205

Please make sure to use the latest upstream version of gvfs before

[Bug 1399595] Re: systemd is activating swap twice, through both fstab and gpt generators

2015-02-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package systemd - 218-7ubuntu1

---
systemd (218-7ubuntu1) vivid; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian unstable. Remaining Ubuntu changes:
- Hack to support system-image read-only /etc, and modify files in
  /etc/writable/ instead.
- Keep our much simpler udev maintainer scripts (all platforms must
  support udev, no debconf).
- initramfs init-top: Drop $ROOTDELAY, we do that in a more sensible way
with wait-for-root. Will get applicable to Debian once Debian gets
  wait-for-root in initramfs-tools.
- initramfs init-bottom: If LVM is installed, settle udev,
otherwise we get missing LV symlinks. Workaround for LP #1185394.
- Add debian/udev.lvm2.init: Dummy SysV init script to satisfy insserv
dependencies to "lvm2" which is handled with udev rules in Ubuntu.
- Provide shutdown fallback for upstart. (LP: #1370329)
- debian/extra/ifup@.service: Additionally run for "auto" class. We don't
really support "allow-hotplug" in Ubuntu at the moment, so we need to
deal with "auto" devices appearing after "/etc/init.d/networking start"
  already ran. (LP: #1374521)
- ifup@.service: Drop dependency on networking.service (i. e.
/etc/init.d/networking), and merely ensure that /run/network exists.
This avoids unnecessary dependencies/waiting during boot and dependency
cycles if hooks wait for other interfaces to come up (like ifenslave
  with bonding interfaces). (LP: #1414544)
- Add Get-RTC-is-in-local-time-setting-from-etc-default-rc.patch: In
Ubuntu we currently keep the setting whether the RTC is in local or UTC
  time in /etc/default/rcS "UTC=yes|no", instead of /etc/adjtime.
  (LP: #1377258)
- Put session scopes into all cgroup controllers. This makes unprivileged
user LXC containers work under systemd. (LP: #1346734)
- Lower Breaks: to plymouth version which has the udev inotify fix in
  Ubuntu.
- Lower libappamor1 dep to the Ubuntu version where it moved to /lib.
- Make failure of boot-and-services NSpawn.test_boot non-fatal for now.
This currently fails when being triggered by Jenkins, but is totally
unreproducible when running this manually on the exact same machine.

Upgrade fixes, keep until 16.04 LTS release:
- systemd Conflicts/Replaces/Provides systemd-services.
- Remove obsolete systemd-logind upstart job.
- Clean up obsolete /etc/udev/rules.d/README.

systemd (218-7) experimental; urgency=medium

  [ Martin Pitt ]
  * Don't attempt to mount the same swap partition twice through different

LP: #1415104)
  * logind: Fix sd_eviocrevoke ioctl call, to make forced input device release
after log out actually work.
  * debian/rules: Drop obsolete --disable-multi-seat-x and
--with-firmware-path configure options.
  * debian/udev.README.Debian: Trim the parts which are obsolete, wrong, or
described in manpages. Only keep the Debian specific bits.
(Part of #776546)
  * Actually install udev's README.Debian when building for Debian.
(Closes: #776546)
  * Create system group "input" which was introduced in 215. (LP: #1414409)
  * ifup@.service: Don't fail if the interface is not configured in
/etc/network/interfaces at all. (LP: #1414426)

  [ Michael Biebl ]
  * Update Vcs-Browser URL to use cgit and https.
  * Map $x-display-manager LSB facility to display-manager.service instead of
making it a target. Using a target had the downside that multiple display
managers could hook into it at the same time which could lead to several
failed start attempts for the non-default display manager.

  with bonding interfaces).

[Bug 1415104] Re: logind flags wrong session as active

[Bug 963061] Re: Doesn't remember ftp password despite promising to do so

2015-02-02 Thread Sebastien Bacher
That should be fixed in vivid with this commit
https://git.gnome.org/browse/gvfs/commit/?id=9362d9c27354ffdcd8b8100dee3994296e48be38

Would be nice if somebody could confirm that so we could look at making
a SRU of the fix
