[Bug 1438011] Re: document viewer

[Bug 1438011] [NEW] document viewer
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Evince has some usability issues with "locked" files: 1. When a "locked" PDF is saved, it cannot be saved to iself, as LibreOffice does for ordinary files. This is an issue with IRS and State of Texas filing documents. They can be edited after having been saved, but must be manually saved to a different file and the original file manually deleted -- a great opportunity for screwups. I suppose that's "reasonable", but being a mere mortal, I find that I often must edit these things, sometimes several times, before finally printing them for submission. Keeping up with the saved versions is a real hassle. 2. Besides being a hassle, it's a big time-waster saving an edited locked government form. A semi-automagical renaming mechanism would be a great help. 3. Edited PDF's are saved with the same timestamp as the source file. This makes it more difficult to distinguish between saved versions. It's also misleading, with potential legal repercussions for the user. There's no way to distinguish as to when the file was actually created in its new persona. ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- document viewer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1438011 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1270579] Re: On laptops, screen brightness isn't memorized between sessions
Dear all! As you can read from bug description, I created Ubuntu package for saving and restoring backlight (brightness) level on laptops. This package installs one file - "/etc/init.d/sysvinit-backlight" (sysvinit script). You can install my package from PPA with the commands below: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nrbrtx/sysvinit-backlight sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install sysvinit-backlight You can remove it by sudo apt-get purge sysvinit-backlight Please note: if you have installed the previous version of my script, please remove it by sudo rm /etc/rc?.d/?25backlight /etc/init.d/brightness /etc/rc?.d/?25brightness The script functionality is: * save backlight (brightness) levels of all video adapters on reboot and shutdown (runlevel 0 and 6) * load backlight (brightness) levels for all video adapters on boot (runlevel S and 2) * this version supports hybrid graphics The script options are: * sudo service sysvinit-backlight status (show current brightness levels and saved in files values) * sudo service sysvinit-backlight start (set saved level from files) * sudo service sysvinit-backlight stop (save current level to files) Known problems: * brightness resets to maximum on login to MATE session (may be related to https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-power-manager/issues/76) Changes: I removed all bashisms and made code more clear - thanks to Andreas Mohr (andi). [Bug 1437742] Re: gnome-terminal never returns after heavy load btrfs operations (defragment, balance, etc.)
Thanks for you feedback. I guess, I could get it up to once a week (using an overful btrfs root system on which the btrfs command cause a very high load) ;) . I'll figure out `strace` and try to share results. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1437742 Title: gnome-terminal never returns after heavy load btrfs operations (defragment, balance, etc.) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1437742/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1437742] Re: gnome-terminal never returns after heavy load btrfs operations (defragment, balance, etc.)
Could this be another manifestation of https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=735101 ? It's another case of gnome-terminal using 100% CPU, and unfortunately we're stuck and ran out of ideas. The next time it happens, could you connect to gnome-terminal with strace (e.g. from an xterm) and see if it's stuck in a loop, like in that bugreport? How often can you reproduce this problem? (The main reason we can't debug the upstream bug is that it happens once in every couple of months, we can't force reproduce it.) ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #735101 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=735101 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1437742 Title: gnome-terminal never returns after heavy load btrfs operations (defragment, balance, etc.) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1437742/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
