[Bug 1452163] [NEW] Cannot create folders in list mode if it is longer than the screen
Public bug reported: This is really just annoying. It does not really impair anything, a very easy workaround is to temporarily switch to grid view and right-click on an empty spot between the grid cells. Then you can make a new file/folder. If the title didn't make sense, here's a more detailed explaination: When viewing a lengthy folder in Nautilus, such as your Documents folder or your home directory, and you are in list view, the list of files in the folders is likely longer than your screen, so you need to scroll. Not a problem, right? Definitely not, but there's one thing: you can't create new files or folders when this is true. Because normally, when the list is not longer than the screen can display at once, there's (a lot of) empty space for you to right-click and create new things. But when there's not, you can't do that, because there's no empty space. My suggested fix would to add a button to create new files or folders on the menu when you right click a file/folder, and not just empty space. I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. My nautilus version is 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu9.7, which seems to be the latest, or at least for my OS version. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1452163 Title: Cannot create folders in list mode if it is longer than the screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1452163/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1452204] [NEW] evdev device for retro-bit NES controller adapter isn't set up as a joystick
Public bug reported: Games which rely on SDL2 (and tools like antimicro) can't see the retro- bit NES controller adapter by default because SDL2 has dropped support for the old /dev/input/jsX API and udev lacks a rule to permission the /dev/input/eventX node appropriately and set the ID_INPUT_JOYSTICK flag. The following rule (or equivalent) needs to be added to the system- provided udev rules. SUBSYSTEM==input, ATTRS{name}==INNEX NES Controller USB, MODE=0666, ENV{ID_INPUT_JOYSTICK}=1 I come to this conclusion because: 1. Until the mode is changed, feeding evtest with an explicit input device number results in a permissions error. 2. Globally allowing users to read joystick input poses no security risk and the data is already mirrored via /dev/input/jsX which is 0666 already. 3. Once the mode is changed, sdl2-jstest and antimicro still cannot see it. 4. Once ID_INPUT_JOYSTICK=1 is set, sdl2-jstest and antimicro work just as well as sdl-jstest and jstest-gtk, which use the old API. [Bug 1440275] Re: Ubuntu GNOME only allows regional format setting for US, UK, Canada, Australia, and NZ
@Tim, I noticed a similar problem at Ask Ubuntu: http://askubuntu.com/questions/616688 So I had a look, and I think the problem lies in two Ubuntu patches, so it hasn't likely been fixed upstream. * gnome-desktop3, ubuntu_language.patch * gnome-control-center, 52_region_language.patch ubuntu_language.patch adds the collect_locales_from_ubuntu() function to gnome-languages.c. collect_locales_from_ubuntu() is called from collect_locales() and populates the hash table gnome_available_locales_map via the add_locale() function. Since the function cc_common_language_get_initial_regions() in gnome- control-center calls gnome_get_all_locales() in gnome-languages.c, which in turn uses the gnome_available_locales_map hash table, it incorrectly grabs the list of languages. Originally (in 3.6) the call for /usr/share/language-tools/language- options happened directly in the function which populated the list of available languages. To achieve something similar, this could be done: - Drop the addition of collect_locales_from_ubuntu() and the changes to collect_locales() from ubuntu_language.patch - Let cc_common_language_add_user_languages() call /usr/share/language-tools/language-options directly somehow (via 52_region_language.patch) Another approach might be to replace the use of gnome_get_all_locales() in cc_common_language_get_initial_regions() with a 'locale -a' list. ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged ** Project changed: ubuntu-gnome = gnome-desktop3 (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-desktop3 (Ubuntu) Milestone: vivid = None ** Changed in: gnome-desktop3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: gnome-desktop3 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1440275 Title: Ubuntu GNOME only allows regional format setting for US, UK, Canada, Australia, and NZ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1440275/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1452272] [NEW] Cut/Copy/Paste/Select All are active while they shouldn't
Public bug reported: I have already created a few upstream reports for this but since nearly every application on my system (Ubuntu 15.04) is affected by this issue and I'm getting tired of opening this many upstream reports I'm creating this collecting ticket. To the issue: Commonly at least once of this happens if the related context menu (commonly in the menu bar - Edit or with a right mouse click on a related field) gets opened: - Cut/Copy are active while nothing is selected. - Paste is active while nothing is in the clipboard. - Select All is active while the related field is empty. [Bug 1448834] Re: mouse battery not shown after upgrade
In 15.04 you can add the power manager plugin to the panel. It displays your mouse's battery status in the menu (or at least it should). If it doesn't you can check whether it's the fault of the underlaying technology, which is UPower (the power manager only reads the device info it gets from UPower and then displays it). Simply run upower -d in the terminal and check whether your mouse shows up. The reason I'm mentioning this as a potential culprit is because UPower underwent a rather big upgrade/transition with 15.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-power-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1448834 Title: mouse battery not shown after upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/1448834/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1452460] [NEW] Turbo mode on i7 is not enabled upon resume
Public bug reported: Turbo mode is not enabled upon resume from suspend. To enable I must issue: ``echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/no_turbo echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/no_turbo echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/no_turbo`` I would expect that Turbo was re-enabled by default from resume. I created a script in /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/ to issue the above commands, but clearly that mechanism is depreciated. I am reporting this bug against systemd as I assume that it is managing the running of startup and resume scripts. A quick hack solution would be appreciated in the short term. [Bug 1452542] [NEW] rhythmbox-mozilla should be suggested not recommended
Public bug reported: Most other NPAPI plugins have been dropped from the Ubuntu-family default install (totem - ubuntu, gecko-mediaplayer - lubuntu), we should default to not having the rhytmbox-mozilla plugin installed as well. Reasoning: * privacy/tracking implications in including plugins [1] * NPAPI is being disabled in Chrome/Chromium [2] this does affect this indirectly as real iTunes will have to show it is installed another way (or hopefully they could just start using standards..) * Plugin support is being deprecated in Firefox and will trigger click-to-play, which AFAICT may make this itunes plugin useless.[3] Totem also just removed their browser plugins for the above and some technical reasons (the technical reasons don't seem applicable to the itunes plugin though) [3] (Also proposed upstream to just remove the support entirely, no response yet - https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=729285) [1] https://panopticlick.eff.org/ [2] https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/#!msg/chromium-dev/xEbgvWE7wMk/D_07G2lftacJ [3] http://www.hadess.net/2014/04/good-bye-totem-browser-plugin.html 1) For 15.10+ 2) 3.1-1ubuntu3 ** Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1452542 Title: rhythmbox-mozilla should be suggested not recommended To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1452542/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1452322] [NEW] please drop build-dependency on g++-4.9
Public bug reported: The dbus-cpp package currently has a build-dependency on g++-4.9. This build-dependency is present because of the recommendations on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/cpp-11 about handling of C++11. [Bug 1452329] [NEW] please drop build-dependency on g++-4.9
Public bug reported: The location-service package currently has a build-dependency on g++-4.9. This build-dependency is present because of the recommendations on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/cpp-11 about handling of C++11. The C++11 ABI has now stabilized in gcc as of gcc 5; however, before we can switch to gcc 5, we first need to be able to do rebuild tests of the archive against this compiler. To facilitate this, please drop the build-dependency on g++-4.9 from the package in wily. 4.9 will remain the default until all transition issues have been identified, so there is no risk of accidental ABI breakage here anymore. ** Affects: location-service (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: lsd-cxx11 ** Tags added: lsd-cxx11 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to location-service in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1452329 Title: please drop build-dependency on g++-4.9 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/location-service/+bug/1452329/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
