2015-08-17 Thread Norbert
Bug is fixed in 15.10 (Wily) - I tested it. Thank you!

Please fix this bug in LTS releases too - 12.04 (Precise) and 14.04 (Trusty).
Fix for 15.04 (Vivid) would be great too.

[Bug 1293629] Re: [Regression] [Trusty] Unity can't be started from kdm

2015-08-17 Thread Rik Shaw
I haven't found out how to set XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP from mdm (Linux
Mint's fork of older gdm), so then when attempting to login to Gnome-
Shell I am greeted with a black screen. However, doing this is a
workaround (but still leaves XDG_CURRENT_DESTKOP unset):

in /usr/share/upstart/sessions/gnome-session.conf

change:

instance $XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP

to:

instance GNOME

[Bug 1464645] Re: Samba shares over gvfs do not respect ACL rules

2015-08-17 Thread Dariusz Gadomski
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * It's impossible to use ACL-configured smb shares via gvfs (e.g.
+ nautilus) as it logs in as an anonymous user by default.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ 1. LDAP authentication for client server.
+ 2. SMB server with a share accessible to a certain ACL group or user.
+ 3. A user (that should be allowed to access the share: is a member of a
authorized group or is an authorized ACL user) accesses the share from a client
using nautilus and smb:// URI.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * Change already present upstream (introduced in version 1.23.90)
+ * I see no risks in backporting it.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ Original bug description:
+
Looks like the SMB backend does not support ACL rules while accessing
  remote shares.

  The scenario looks like this:
  1. LDAP authentication for client server.
  2. SMB server with a share accessible to a certain ACL group or user.
  3. A user (that should be allowed to access the share: is a member of a
authorized group or is an authorized ACL user) accesses the share from a client
using nautilus and smb:// URI.

  Expected result:
Access is granted to the resource.

  Actual result:
Permission denied for accessing the resource in question.

  Actual result:
No sign of ACL rules in the getfacl output.

[Bug 877279] Re: EOG - Image viewer hangs system when opening large image file

2015-08-17 Thread Bernard Decock
EOG 3.10.2 works fine on a computer with sufficient ram. However, if you
run this program on an older computer, eg. with only 512 MB of ram,
displaying large images (eg. 4000 * 6000, a common size of a modern
camera), will cause the computer to hang. The same applies to gThumb. In
order to view such images, one can use Shotwell. I reverted to a more
lightweight desktop, eg. Xfce, and Ristretto is displaying large
images without any issues.

[Bug 1485496] [NEW] Icon offscreen in multi-screen desktop

2015-08-17 Thread jehon
Public bug reported:

I am using a laptop with an external screen. The external screen
(1920x1080) is bigger than the laptop one (1366x768). They are arranged
to be: the laptop on left, and the external display on right.

On my normal desktop, the two column is full of icons. I want to add a
document on my desktop.

* When there are no external display connected:
When I add a document on my desktop, the icon is shown on a third column.
That's great.

* When the external display is connected:
When I add a document on my desktop, the icon is shown at the bottom of the
first column, and thus invisible and unreachable. That's not great, that's a
bug.

- possible diagnostic:
It looks like nautilus think that the two screen have the same height, that the
laptop screen is now bigger than it is. And that is the bug...
