[Bug 1248720] Re: Bluetooth ON/OFF button switches OFF automatically

2015-09-28 Thread Bin Li
@Will,

I have updated the description before, but not obviously, I re-updated again,
is it ok? :)
And the source code was already approved now.

 Thanks a lot!

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * On trusty, we met this issue, you can't turn on/off bluetooth, it
+ affected the other OEM project which needed by Lenovo, HP and Dell.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * open the unity-control-center, and select 'Bluetooth', try to turn
+ on/off in top checkbox.
+
I am on ThinkPad T61 with Ubuntu 13.10 installed. I disabled bluetooth
  on startup by adding:

  "echo disable > /proc/acpi/ibm/bluetooth"

  to /etc/rc.local. When I open gnome-control-center -> Bluetooth and
click on the "ON/OFF" switch button, it switches on for a fraction of a
second and then switches back to off. Below are dmesg lines
  corresponding to this event:

  [ 94.028110] usb 3-1: new full-speed USB device number 5 using uhci_hcd
  [ 94.194320] usb 3-1: New USB device found, idVendor=0a5c, idProduct=2110
  [ 94.194325] usb 3-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2,
SerialNumber=0
  [ 94.194328] usb 3-1: Product: BCM2045B
  [ 94.194330] usb 3-1: Manufacturer: Broadcom Corp
  [ 94.388169] usb 3-1: USB disconnect, device number 5

The workaround is to type "turn connectivity on/off" combination of my
keyboard (FN+F5) -- then both wireless and bluetooth go off, and when I
type it again, bluetooth comes back ON.

[Bug 1500469] Re: ubuntu does not restart correctly when it blocks chosen to restart the system parameters since it's a new bug

2015-09-28 Thread Seth Arnold
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your
report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can
better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it.

Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For
help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally,
in the report please include:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System ->
About Ubuntu.
2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by
checking in Synaptic.
3) What happened and what you expected to happen.

The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide
variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures .
Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make
your bug report much more complete. Thanks!

Re: [Bug 1426307] Re: location is inaccurate

2015-09-28 Thread Lucio Carreras
Hello Oliver,
I am not using the krillin stable channel, if you meant that. I once ran
into a endless reboot loop and I had to flash again. Since then I have
been using the ota-releases (currently r9). Before that I had real
problems with GPS and after that I immediatly went to Poortugal and
Spain and everything worked really really great. In Germany it does not.
In the cities ok, but not in rural areas. I am an outdoor fan and the
GPS simply does not work there. Maybe I get a location fix there. But
after screenlock turns on it's like roulette if I'd ever be able to get
a fix again...

I don't wanna troll here or play the angry-man but I made the experience
that with a Garmin or Android device it is working without Wifi and/or
SIM card. Even the BQ Aquaris 4.5 I am using works with Android. And I
just feel betrayed that I bought the Ubuntu version of a phone and the
only sensor that is working reliably is the accelerometer.

I am a developer and Linux enthusiast, too. This is the reason because I
bought this phone. And I just wanna share my experience with the
developer in order to help him increasing the qos. But I could do better
if I'd know how to get debug output or if there'd be a lower level
possibility instead of QML to gather information about the GPS device.

Greetings, Lucio

[Bug 1500228] Re: When scrolling back up some of the bottom comes up as a sort of sleeve

2015-09-28 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Ok, after I restarted the machine (although not Terminal) the strange
behaviour seems to have disappeared although it does come and go. But I
will give you the information you asked for as it may help you to figure
it out.

I scroll with the Up/Down keys, I have not tried any other way but will
do next time and report back.

I have been using Ubuntu and GNOME for a very long time now and I have
never seen anything like this on any other version other than GNOME3
Staging. I will attempt to get a VM running Wily Beta up and running and
see if I can reproduce the bug there.

Yes, I am able to reproduce this bug when not maximized, when maximized,
and also when manually resizing the Terminal window.

$LESS has no value.

"stty size" reports "37 150".

No, I don't have any additional layer of software running when this
issue occurs.

Yes, I am absolutely sure that it is gnome-terminal. The output of "echo
$VTE_VERSION" is: "4002". I hope that this helps and I will run the same
checks again when the issue returns and let you know if they are the
same as I have reported here.

[Bug 1426307] Re: location is inaccurate

2015-09-28 Thread Oliver Grawert
@lucio, are you sure you are using the official stable (or rc-proposed)
channel for your device ? note that the dialog (and the HERE backend) is
only available in the right channels (i.e. the ones that get shipped on
the devices with a paid license), it is not in the community builds
(i.e. the /ubuntu channels)

i see the option on both, MX4 and Aquaris 4.5 on rc-proposed

Re: [Bug 1426307] location is inaccurate

2015-09-28 Thread Lucio Carreras
Hi, since I have returned to Germany, GPS is working worse than in Spain
and Portugal.
In cities ok (if you have time to sit down and wait between 5 and 10
minutes). But in rural areas where no wifi is available you have no chance.
And those are the places where you really need GPS for hiking or bike
tours.
Btw, what happened to the Nokia Here dialog in ota 6? I cannot find it
anymore. See attachment.

Regards, Lucio

[Bug 1498945] Re: [libglib2.0] evolution + evolution-ews

2015-09-28 Thread Iain Lane
In comment #11, are you sure you had libglib2.0-0-dbg and evolution-
data-server-dbg installed?

I see

#11 0x76d67f85 in ?? () from /usr/lib/libcamel-1.2.so.52
No symbol table info available.
#12 0x73f61d88 in ?? () from /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgio-2.0.so.0
No symbol table info available.

- these messages indicate that gdb can't find the debugging information
for those libraries, which should be in those packages.

[Bug 1500412] [NEW] in a fresh gnome-terminal less hides some lines

2015-09-28 Thread Alexey Bashtanov
Public bug reported:

I perform the following:
1) open new terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T)
2) maximize it (205x58 on my monitor)
3) run less -XSRN ~/1.colordiff (see attached)
4) press end
5) press home

I expect: all lines and their numbers to be shown
I see: lines 14-18 and 21-25 absent

If I press end and home once more or if I exit less and run it once
more, the bug cannot be reproduced.

2015-09-28 Thread mangouste06
I just tried to install

libglib2.0-0_2.46.0-1+ppa1_amd64.deb
libglib2.0-bin_2.46.0-1+ppa1_amd64.deb
libglib2.0-data_2.46.0-1+ppa1_all.deb

as requested from the ppa.

I got the same behaviour. The console log is the same as the one in the
attached file evolution-after.

[Bug 1498945] Re: [libglib2.0] evolution + evolution-ews

2015-09-28 Thread Iain Lane
Thanks!

Is it right that you are using EWS? I uploaded the new version 3.16.5 to
the same PPA - please also give that a try once it's available.

If that doesn't fix it, then the following information would be helpful.

Please could you try to get a backtrace by doing something like the
following.

Enable the debug repository:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash#Non-built-
in_debug_symbol_packages_.28.2A-dbgsym.29

apt-get install evolution-dbg evolution-ews-dbgsym
G_DEBUG=fatal-criticals G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all gdb evolution | tee gdb.log
(gdb) set pagination 0
(gdb) run

... and then when (hopefully) it aborts before starting up

(gdb) bt full
(gdb) quit

and then attach gdb.log to this bug.

[Bug 1499484] [NEW] Waking up changes keyboard layout and turns off wifi

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After waking up from sleep I always get different keyboard layout - my default

[Bug 1500575] [NEW] problems copying DVD bigger than 8 GB

2015-09-28 Thread LAZA
Public bug reported:

I copy my DVDs as Backup to hard drive, but this time i got only non-
working/corruptiv files.

Original:
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B009EQHI60?psc=1=true_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

Those disks are about 8.3 GB each, and if i insert them in my drive they
work without problems.

They start, if i want to copy them to HDD, showing me the correct size of 8.3
GB.
At the drive, they are about 7,9 GB in Thunar, 7920xxxyyy in GNOME Commander,
7,4 GiB in Nemo

So, clearly, there is a border where Brasero has a problem copying or writing
the correct file down.
File system is ext4, if this matters.

-

Finally i managed to copy one of these DVDs correct and working onto
hard drive and did nothing different to the steps before.

Size is now 8,3 GB with Thunar on the hard drive.

[Bug 1500673] [NEW] gdm unusable after upgrading to 15.10

2015-09-28 Thread Martin Smith
Public bug reported:

Hi there -- I figured I'd try 15.10 a few days before release, and when
gdm is the default greeter, I see no login prompt and I have to CTRL-
ALT-F1 to get to a terminal. As far as I can tell, there's nothing
interesting in the logs in /var/log or /var/log/gdm. I just get a blank,
black screen.

As a side note, I'm seeing the error messages described in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1492764, but I
don't think they are the root cause for a missing X-server (AFAICT,
there's no X server starting).

Please advice on how I can troubleshoot further. `dkg-reconfigure gdm`
and choosing lightdm yields a GUI login prompt in lightdm.

[Bug 1498945] Re: [libglib2.0] evolution + evolution-ews

2015-09-28 Thread Iain Lane
Sorry, I didn't tell you all of the packages we need :(

Could you please try it again with evolution-data-server-dbg and
libglib2.0-0-dbg installed?

I've looked at the changes between 2.45.7 and 2.45.8 and I don't
immediately see one which is suspicious - hopefully this will help.

[Bug 1500611] [NEW] Have customizable favourites section in sidebar - feature request

2015-09-28 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Public bug reported:

I think that a really good feature would be one that allows you like the
File Explorer does on Windows and Nemo (well it doesn't really have a
separate category as such for them, but it is closer to it than
Nautilus) to add 'favourite' locations to the Nautilus sidebar. That is
so that there would be a separate category sort of for it at the top
where a user can set locations (folders). So that it is basically just
easier to get to parts of the file system that the user uses a lot.

How are you reproducing this? How can I verify the fix?

It seems to me as nautilus recognizes a dummy file correctly as plain
text rather than TeX document; so does the file command.
