[Bug 1504665] [NEW] Evolution fails to show Imap folder "Inbox". It only shows the unexisting grayed-out empty folder "INBOX" (all caps)

2015-10-09 Thread Jorge Morais
Public bug reported:

In my workplace, email is accessible via IMAP. The default mail client
is Thunderbird (Windows). Thunderbird on Ubuntu does work correctly. I
wanted though to use Evolution. However, evolution fails to show Inbox.
Instead of Inbox it shows an empty, grayed-out "INBOX" (all-caps).

This happens both on a fully updated installation of 15.04, and on a
fully updated installation of 15.10 (I installed it in a Virtualbox VM
and updated it with apt).

I have tried to reproduce it with Evolution 3.18, but:
- The OpenSuse live Gnome image mentioned in www.gnome.org/getting-gnome/ fails
to load the X server within Virtualbox.
- In Fedora 23 Beta live (in Virtualbox), Evolution fails to connect to the
IMAP server. I then tried to install Fedora 23 Beta to disk (within
Virtualbox) but Anaconda crashed every time I tried.

[Bug 1504659] [NEW] Duplicate line for path "/var/log"

2015-10-09 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Public bug reported:

On an snappy 15.04 stable system I see in the logs:
systemd-tmpfiles[958]: [/usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/var.conf:14] Duplicate line for
path "/var/log", ignoring.

Bug 1434295 mentions this, but reports that systemd fails to start. This
bug is about preventing systemd from displaying this in the logs.
Looking at the snappy system, I'm not sure why it is doing that:

$ cat /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d/var.conf
# This file is part of systemd.
#
# systemd is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it
# under the terms of the GNU Lesser General Public License as published by

# (at your option) any later version.

# See tmpfiles.d(5) for details

Perhaps this is a bug in systemd?

[Bug 1463159] Re: automount toggle in disks is reversed in 14.04

2015-10-09 Thread George
Continued: Conversely, setting automount to off, requests authentication
to add an entry to fstab and then does so, and at next boot the result
is the drive is mounted at boot as seen here: http://imgur.com/cFB1eMg

Perhaps it's just me but this seems counter-intuitive. I would expect
that when setting auto mount to on an entry would be added to fstab to
automatically mount the partition.

Again, please let me know if I can provide further information that
would be useful.

[Bug 1463159] Re: automount toggle in disks is reversed in 14.04

2015-10-09 Thread George
Yes Sebastien, I am talking the Automatic Mount Options in Disks and
and I agree with your logic, however what I am getting instead with auto
mount toggled on and set to mount at startup, the partition is not
mounted. Here's an example showing the options as set and the partition
reported as unmounted in disks: http://imgur.com/SCSZ8hs Also
running mount in a terminal confirms that the partition remains
unmounted in my case it's partition /dev/sda2

Please let me know if I can provide further information that would be
helpful.

2015-10-09 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1504570] [NEW] Using clipboard in evince scrambles text

2015-10-09 Thread Jens Herrmann
Public bug reported:

1. Open the PDF on
https://web.archive.org/web/20091228225958/http://www.bmvit.gv.at/verkehr/strasse/sicherheit/downloads/epigus_lichtamTag.pdf
with evince and go to the last page (page 21)
2. Mark the entire 3rd paragraph and copy the text to the clipboard
3. Paste the text in an editor like mousepad
4. The order of words has changed now. One can see this already when marking
the text. Everything is ok til the 2nd word of the 3rd line, then the next word
should be "Sicherheitsvorteil" but "Früherkennung" in the 4th line gets marked
instead.

The original text looks like this:
Fahren mit Licht am Tag bringt bei guten Lichtverhältnissen / optimalen
Bedingungen (trockene Fahrbahn, beste Sichtverhältnisse) offensichtlich
keinen realen Sicherheitsvorteil, da der geringe Zeitgewinn der
Früherkennung durch längere Zuwendungsdauern zum Scheinwerfer
paralysiert (zunichte gemacht) wird.

[Bug 1175947] Re: gvfs-copy --preserve doesn't work with MTP devices

2015-10-09 Thread Grzegorz Ciołek
Andrew could you test copying files inside phone and check timestamps i.e.:
- Internal <> Internal,
- Internal <> SD Card
- Internal <> USB (OTG).

Does any of your devices has an encrypted internal partition ?

As far as I can recall there can be these issues regarding timestamps:

- gvfs (Internal, SD, USB)
- FUSE implementation (SD and USB)
- Encryption (Internal, SD, USB)

My S4 had these issues since 4.2.

Happy to hear that it works for you :-).

[Bug 1458615] Re: Ubuntu Softwer Center does not start

2015-10-09 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1175947] Re: gvfs-copy --preserve doesn't work with MTP devices

2015-10-09 Thread Andrew Wilkinson
I'm sorry to read that the fix does not yet work in all cases.

Following on from my previous post:

I am using Ubuntu 15.10 beta2 followed by recent apt-get dist upgrade on +-30
September 2015.
The gvfs package updated to: gvfs_1.24.2-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb

I have tested the following three android devices:

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910F (running Android 5.1)
Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500 (running Android 5.0.1)
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 SM-P601 (running Android 4.4.2)

I performed the following tests via usb:

(1) Copying files from phone to Ubuntu laptop (RESULT: timestamp preserved)
(2) Copying files from Ubuntu laptop to phone (RESULT: *** timestamp NOT
preserved ***)

(3) Copying files from phone to Windows 7 (RESULT: timestamp preserved)
(4) Copying files from Windows 7 to phone (RESULT: timestamp preserved)

All three android devices behave in the same way.

It is weird that timestamps are properly preserved in both directions for
Windows 7,
yet timestamps are only preserved in one direction for Ubuntu (with gvfs
1.24.2).

The previous post suggested that there are problems relating to lack of
support from Google android developers (and that is why it is difficult
for Linux developers to fix).

Why then does it work properly for Windows if it is an Android problem?

Clearly the problem is only partially solved for Ubuntu.

It is still a serious problem if transferring files from Ubuntu to the phone
destroys timestamps.
Please, can someone fix this problem or contact someone who can! (for the sake
of Linux!!!)

(But I am still delighted that I can now move my photos & videos from
my phone to my laptop without timestamp corruption. The problem was
more serious for videos as it appears that no date information is stored
inside the mp4 file; for jpg images, the date is stored inside the
file).

[Bug 1174162] [NEW] chrome-browser makes gnome-keyring-daemon use 100% cpu

2015-10-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After upgrading to 13.04, when starting the chromium browser, the gnome-
keyring-daemon runs at full CPU load and the chromium-browser has no
access to the stored passwords.

The issue seems to be known
(https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=98601). I'm
personally a bit surprised that Ubuntu 13.04 was released with such a
serious problem.

The frequently proposed workaround (e.g.
https://plus.google.com/110130355317073712944/posts/PckhFj5HUn4) doesn't
work because (a) there is no .gnome2/keyrings any more and (b) it's
rather inresponsible to store your passwords unencryted.

I found that killing gnome-keyring-server several times eventually gives you a
working system.

[Bug 1463159] Re: automount toggle in disks is reversed in 14.04

Options"? If so it seems logical that automatic option let you have
manual controls when off, and when it's on the system deal with
things...
