Public bug reported:

I have been translating part of the evolution of Spanish template. It

[Bug 1157253] Re: Gedit does not restore open tabs after crash correctly

Thanks for filing this bug.

The best I get, by way of a reproducer, on 14.04, with 3.10.4-0ubuntu4:
sending SIGKILL to an gedit instance with several tabs open, I get a
restored session, upon relaunch, that only features a single tab titled
'Untitled Document'. While this doesn't match your description, this
differs from expected behaviour as well.

Could you please tell me if you reproduce on 14.04 with
3.10.4-0ubuntu4?

[Bug 1511333] Re: Spanish translate template evolution wily 15.10

2015-10-29 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
Hello, and thanks for your work on translations.

As you've probably seen anyone can add translation suggestions here on
Launchpad. But in order for them to actually apply, the suggestions need
to be approved or added by a member of the translation team for the
language in question.

I would suggest you contact the Ubuntu Spanish Translators team
(https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-l10n-es), and either find someone who can
review your work and/or let you join the team. They can review your
suggestions in order to get them added, and if you become a team member
you will be able to add translations directly as well as review others
work. (I would assume that with 400 suggested translations for this
package, you are easily accepted into the team :) )

Btw, in case you missed it, at the top of
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/wily/+source/evolution/+pots/evolution/es/+translate,
there should be a box containing both general Ubuntu translators
instructions (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/) as well as Spanish
guidelines (http://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuSpanishTranslators/Estilo), the
latter of which might be more specific. This contains more information
on working with translations in Ubuntu.

[Bug 1508766] Re: /etc/machine-id not created if missing

2015-10-29 Thread Martin Pitt
> I'm surprised the root filesystem is read-only at the point where
systemd starts. Isn't it remounted rw by the initramfs? (It is in
Debian.)

No, it shouldn't; Usually grub passes the "ro" option in which case
initramfs should leave it as readonly (see /usr/share/initramfs-
tools/init). rw mounting happens in systemd-remount-fs.service.

Sorry for the misunderstanding/false information: Indeed /etc/machine-id
must at least exist (empty is okay) in order to regenerate it -- then
systemd will create a new one in a temporary location in /run, bind-
mount /etc/machine-id to it, and systemd-machine-id-commit.service will
then write it to /etc/machine-id once the fs becomes read-write. So the
message in the description as well as machine-id(5) ("Optionally, for
stateless systems, it is generated during runtime at boot if it is found
to be empty.") are quite correct.

So this is pretty much "wontfix" on the downstream side. There's
probably a way to combine the above so that writing an entirely absent
/etc/machine-id after the root fs becomes rw, but that should then
happen upstream.

Use of this file could lead to crash the products using poppler library

Hello,

I've found some vulnerabilities in pdf viewers using famous library
named poppler such as evince, xpdf, okular and so on.

This is my short report and I used latest version of poppler (poppler-0.37.0).
Plus I've attached some findings.

Thanks

[Bug 1500673] Re: gdm unusable after upgrading to 15.10

2015-10-29 Thread Justin Nichols
Installing xwayland did not seem to solve it for me. Upon reboot, gdm
still just loads a grey screen. I cannot even seem to CTRL+ALT+F1 to
get to another tty session in order to fix it. I have to boot to
recovery, remount as read-write and then dpkg-reconfigure lightdm back
to using lightdm.

Seems that this is an inherent limitation of the gzip file format

I guess this should be closed as "not a bug"? I don't know how to do
that however...

[Bug 1511245] [NEW] unable to rename tabs in gnome-terminal

2015-10-29 Thread TomaszChmielewski
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from 12.04 to 14.04 or later, it's no longer possible to
rename terminal tabs (as a result of unfortunate changes in upstream
gnome-terminal).

This feature is extremely useful for people working with terminals
(sysadmins, programmers...).

Upstream developer recommends changing names by using escape sequences, which
is complicated and unintuitive (and does not always work, i.e. with remote
sessions).

[Bug 1511292] [NEW] Online address book can't be set up due to keyring request

2015-10-29 Thread Barry Drake
Public bug reported:

I use Evolution only for the address-book. I use it to sync my Google
address book which has extensive information from my Android phone.
There was no problem on 15.04, or on 15.10 up until the beta of early
September. My desktop PC and my laptop both operate the Evolution
addressbook online just fine. Both are up to date.

A new installation on this computer as at the release date for Wily
shows the problem. I have set the online account to allow Evolution to
access online data. When I try to set Evolution up exactly as on the
two previous installations, I cannot do so without allowing it to add
the passwords to my personal keyring. If I uncheck the 'add password to
keyring' box, Evolution cannot be set up with any account data.

I have spent a number of hours trying to find a workaround, bu so far
with no success. I assume this is an Evolution problem, but obviously
Seahorse is invoked.

[Bug 1511292] Re: Online address book can't be set up due to keyring request

2015-10-29 Thread Barry Drake
A bit more information I ought to have included. The only difference
between the two previous installations is the password/seahorse password
requirement. In the new installation, Evolution is unable to access the
Google account even though this is made available to Evolution in
'Online Accounts'. All settings in Online Accounts, and in Evolution
are identical to those in the earlier installations.

I set up a second administrator account on this computer, and repeated
the Evolution and Online Accounts setup procedure, so the problem seems
to be repeatable.

[Bug 1412916] Re: evince: Bad PDF rendering: invalid font scale

2015-10-29 Thread Mathew Hodson
** Changed in: poppler (Ubuntu Trusty)
   Importance: Undecided => Low

** Description changed:

- (SRU info on comment #11)
+ [Impact]

- Evince in ubuntu 14.04 (3.10.3-0ubuntu10.1) suffers from this bug:
+ * Many PDFs do not display correctly, including the boarding passes from a
+ major European airline.

- The test case which is attached to the upstream bug demonstrates the
- problem with Evince in Ubuntu.
+ * Printing a boarding pass is a common simple task which users expect to
+ work, and therefore should be fixed in the stable release.

- Hopefully, the patch attached to the upstream bug report would fix the
- problem in ubuntu.
+ * See upstream bug report for discussion about the mechanism of the fix.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * Attempt to view the test case in the linked upstream bug using 'evince
+ attachment.pdf'.
+
+ * Observe corrupted text displayed.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * Theoretically, other PDFs which currently display correctly could be
+ displayed incorrectly after this change, but is intended to emulate
+ acroread, so this is unlikely.
+
+ * Patch has been reviewed and committed upstream, so should be safe.

[Bug 1511616] [NEW] Version 3.16.3 under Lubuntu 15.10 does not respect window button placement

[Bug 1500673] Re: gdm unusable after upgrading to 15.10

2015-10-29 Thread JP
"Interestingly, for me the experience was exactly the other way around:
Switching from lightdm to gdm made it work again.
This makes me suspect that the act of switching itself is what makes it work
again -- which hints at some configuration issue."

This was not the case for me - switching to LightDM and back did not
work.
