[Bug 1500673] Re: gdm unusable after upgrading to 15.10
I, too, have this problem. No login screen after upgrade to 15.10 from 15.04. I have now spent 36 hours trying to get this upgrade to work. I've tried everything I can find cruising the net. Nothing works. I've gone back and forth between gdm and lightdm. I've uninstalled and reinstalled ubuntu-desktop. All that nonsense and a lot more. I've restored file system backups to the original 15.04 and reapplied the update several times. Nothing in the syslog to suggest the problem. At this point I give up. I'm going back to 15.04 and will stay there until somebody confirms a fix. The real fix might just be that Canonical stops with these 6-month releases that don't work and goes to 1-year releases that do. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1500673 Title: gdm unusable after upgrading to 15.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/1500673/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1513729] Re: Can't rename files correctly in Nautilus using alt-gr for special keys
I think the cause is related to Guake terminal being loaded. If I open Guake and then hide it from view I seem to get this problem with alt-gr if I restart Nautilus. If I close the terminal completely (not just hide from view) then the problem disappears. There are no shortcut keys in Guake that are assigned to alt-gr so I've no idea why it seems to take control of that key. I am not sure if this is a Nautilus bug or a Guake bug. [Bug 761781] Re: Gedit takes many minutes to start if there are many files in directory
Hi John. I can certainly understand your frustration that there's been no response for a long time. Unfortunately, I'm not a dev, so I won't be much help in terms of actually fixing the problem. I just came across the bug and was interested in whether it still existed as there have been many updates to Ubuntu since you reported your problem. I think what might be useful to see on this particular issue are some exact steps somebody can take to reproduce the issue you described. For example, Step 1. Install Ubuntu with an ext3 file system # or may be create an ext3 filesystem on an already installed system Step 2. Create 70,000 small text files in a directory # if you had a particular method for creating the 70,000 1K text files, perhaps using a 'for' loop or similar - include this Step 3... and so on. That way whoever looks at the bug can at least verify and confirm the issue you've described. With easy to follow reproducer steps using a more recent version of Ubuntu, I'd imagine it would be easier for someone to make progress with the bug. FWIW, I was unable to reproduce this issue on a Trusty install but I use an ext4 fs and that, as you alluded to previously, may be a very important factor. Unfortunately, with my current set up I'm not able to test using ext3. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/761781 Title: Gedit takes many minutes to start if there are many files in directory To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/761781/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1503718] Re: control-center, wacom-tablet: Calibration window is unresponsive
Hi I had the same problem. Couldn't assign my Wacom Intous 5 express keys. I found a solution online. I changed in the d-conf editor "org.gnome .settings-daemon.plugins.gsdwacom" the priority from 0 to 20. That fixed it for me after a reboot.
