[Bug 1516323] Re: With compositing off some apps have a huge black border

2015-11-14 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
Do you see this problem when you turn off compositing manager and
restart program? All your mentioned programs are CSD windows and I think
GTK+ does not support toggling compositing mode - you need to restart
program.

If you have same problem after restarting application then problem might
be in theme you use. For example it might miss .solid-csd styling that
is used when application is used without compositing manager.

In short this is not metacity bug.

[Bug 1516340] [NEW] make keyboard shortcut to quit more discoverable

2015-11-14 Thread Casey
Public bug reported:

Currently, ctrl-w closes the current settings module while ctrl-q quits
gnome control center altogether. However, the user has no way of
discovering this except for trial and error. At the very least, the
"quit" option in the menu should be labeled with ctrl-q.

[Bug 354909] Re: python 2.6 support - jaunty

2015-11-14 Thread Six
Just an FYI to anyone who comes across this, I've located the exact call
that depends on numpy. It is quite difficult to find this (as numpy is
only used indirectly), so I've decided to comment despite the age of
this issue.

It is line 327 of spectlib/notifier.py

for row in icon.get_pixels_array():

You can duplicate the segmentation fault by running the following:

import gtk
icon = gtk.icon_theme_get_default().load_icon('dialog-information', 64,0)
print(icon.get_pixels_array())

[Bug 1516345] [NEW] Invalid characters in file name

2015-11-14 Thread Elbarbudo
Public bug reported:

Step 1 :

I got file names with invalid encoding (mainly from an Old Mac)
In nautilus, it is displayed as

Ch 03 _ judo-christianisme.DOC (codage non valide)

But an ls command displays :

Ch 03 _ jud?o-christianisme.DOC
(Without the "codage non valide" mention)

Step 2 :

In Nautilus, I renamed the file just by correcting the invalid character
:

The result is :
Ch 03 _ judéo-christianisme.DOC (codage non valide)

And the ls command issues :
Ch 03 _ judéo-christianisme.DOC (codage non valide)

So I had originally an invalid file without any mention of it in command
line, and I end with a correctly encoded filename with the mention
"codage non valide"

I wish a more consistent behaviour by not writing back the string " (codage non
valide)" to the file name after correction,
or by writing the string " (codage non valide)" to the file name on detection
of the invalid coding.

[Bug 1397516] Re: Evince prints blank pages with attached PDF

2015-11-14 Thread John Waffle
This bug happens to me too, with only certain PDFs. I am not sure what
makes a pdf not work in Evince, but I have attached one that works for
me, and linked one that doesn't.

For example, this test PDF I just exported from LibreOffice prints
perfectly (see attached), but an academic paper I downloaded always
prints blank pages.

Link to paper that does not print:
http://hunch.net/~coms-4771/quinlan.pdf

I can't even successfully print out the first page of this pdf, it
always just makes my printer print blank pages. Note that the number of
blank pages matches the number of pages it would have printed, as in, if
I tell it to print just page 1, it gives me one blank sheet.

I tried printing the exact same pdf in SumatraPDF and it printed without
issue.

Evince is my favorite PDF viewer, being able to print out pdfs is a very
useful feature, I hope this gets fixed soon. Let me know if I can
provide more information.

System information:

Evince version: 2.32.0.145
OS: Windows 7 64 bit
Printer: Samsung ML-1865W

[Bug 797485] Re: Status Bar Covers File Name at Bottom

2015-11-14 Thread Jordan Bowman
I can't even begin to explain how annoying this "feature" is to me.
Sometimes I have an extremely hard time understanding UI design choices.
A file browser has one major purpose: to show me ALL the files in a
given directory; but when I can't see my bottom row of files because of
a damn floating status bar that I have no way of removing, said file
browser fails miserably at its ONE job.

[Bug 1516316] [NEW] Username in flashback menu tree displays empty limb

2015-11-14 Thread Erick Brunzell
Public bug reported:

This is an extremely minor issue but I notice in Xenial when using the
main menu button rather than the standard Menu Bar the username
displayed in the menu tree just displays a blank limb when you mouse
over it. A picture is worth a thousand words in this instance so I'm
attaching a screenshot composition with the Xenial behavior on the left
and the Trusty behavior on the right.

It looks to me like even the username displayed in indicator-applet-
complete is rather useless and redundant so maybe the Unity devs would
consider changing that entire behavior? I mean clicking on the username
will lock the screen but there is also a Lock button so why even have
the username displayed?

Also the System Settings button is displayed in System Tools as well as
being displayed by indicator-applet-complete if used so it's just more
redundancy. Can anyone think of a valid reason why the username need
even be displayed?

I am sick of this bug either, but I cannot see another solution but to
wait for some revelation. I have also posted a bug report on Gnome
Bugzilla, but my experience shows that Gnome devs do not really care
about user reported bugs (I reported more bugs and the usual answer is
that I use an older version).
