[Bug 132788] Re: gedit doesn't notice that a file has been renamed

2015-12-01 Thread Pirasath
Hello!

We are 4 French students (University Paris 8) and we have to fix bugs on open
source software for a class.
We searched among different bugs and softwares and this bug in gedit interested
us. So we decided to work on it, hopefully fix it.

Karim, Pirasath, Naijidat, Thanushan.

[Bug 1481240] Re: Can't get correct location information before use other GPS apps

2015-12-01 Thread Thomas Voß
I'm not convinced that location-service is causing issues here. We do
not switch on positioning unless someone explicitly asks us to do so. In
that case, it will take ~30 seconds until network-based positioning
kicks in and likely another 2 - 3 minutes until the GPS hands us a
position. With that, we are likely seeing a race on startup here.

For Pete's statement: The location service deals in numeric values on
purpose. Geocoding and reverse geocoding is consciously left out and we
assume other layers of the system to do a better job of the
encoding/decoding task (we also want to avoid calling "home" to a geoip
service from a central system service).

[Bug 1521586] [NEW] Frame shadow of gtk3 application is not transparent for mouse clicks

2015-12-01 Thread b3nmore
Public bug reported:

The shadow region of Gtk3 apps drawing their own frame shadow (CSD) is
not transparent for mouse events. E.g. when such an app is in front of a
browser window, a link in the browser can only be clicked/hovered at
distance from the window border, which is larger than the shadow
thickness.

[Bug 201786] Re: ssh Agent admitted failure to sign using the key on big endian machines

2015-12-01 Thread Adam Katz
Peter: Yes, that's all true (it's a workaround after all), though you
could add the ssh-agent command to your startup scripts. I've updated
my Stack Exchange answer
to reflect that.

BTW, you don't actually need the `mv` line since the .broken socket
isn't terribly useful.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu

[Bug 1521744] [NEW] Entry in fstab with x-initrd.mount not mounted at boot

2015-12-01 Thread Andrew Tribick
Public bug reported:

I am running a system with a separate /var partition - this causes
errors due to various services being started before the /var partition
is mounted. As an attempt to fix this, I have tried adding the
x-initrd.mount option to the entry in /etc/fstab for the /var partition,
according to
http://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/systemd.special.html
this should add the partition to the sysroot-usr.mount target.

Example fstab entry

UUID={*irrelevant to bug report*}  /varext4
defaults,x-initrd.mount0 2

What actually happens is that this causes the partition not to be
mounted at all after boot. Using sudo mount -a does nevertheless
successfully mount the partition.

Reproducible: always

[Bug 871133] Re: Ubuntu Oneric Volume Step Can Not be Changed

2015-12-01 Thread Nathan Osman
I decided to take some initiative and apply the patch myself. Naturally,
it needed to be applied to both gnome-settings-daemon and unity-
settings-daemon. The new setting is exposed at "org.gnome.settings-
daemon.plugins.sound.volume-step" and can easily be changed with dconf.

I've uploaded the packages to ppa:george-edison55/gnome-settings-daemon

[Bug 1252909] Re: Nautilus takes no notice of my selection in File --> Properties

2015-12-01 Thread Ken Sharp
Upgraded to Trusty and there is no change. Choosing "Properties" (this
time from the little gear icon in the top right) gives me the properties
of the directory I'm browsing, rather than the selected entry. Or is
this the intention?

2015-12-01 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
