[Bug 1551283] Re: "Region & Language" settings should allow you to set keyboard input method system

2016-03-05 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I have uploaded modified versions of im-config and language-selector to
this PPA:

https://launchpad.net/~gunnarhj/+archive/ubuntu/im-config-gnome

Please feel free to upload and test.

With those changes, im-config (and gnome-language-selector) will default
to IBus in Ubuntu GNOME. I added an exception for Ubuntu GNOME, so it
will not default to fcitx even if a CJKV language is used as the display
language. This seemed to be the most reasonable solution, considering
the limitations of gnome-control-center in this respect.

I also changed pkg_depends so it pulls IBus IM engines for Chinese in
Ubuntu GNOME. (Currently it does not.)

It should be noted that you don't need to install language-selector-
gnome to switch between IM frameworks (IBus, fcitx, etc.). It can be
done from the im-config GUI "Input Method Configuration" or from command
line.

Let me know if you have any objections on the proposed changes.

Personally I think it would make sense to at least try to *allow* the
users to use fcitx, even if g-c-c doesn't support it. Possibly it would
require that the settings of the IM related environment variables in
gnome-session are commented. (im-config sets them anyway as long as IBus
is the selected IM framework.) I added a gnome-session task as a
reminder. ;)

@Nikita: The input source you should use for typing Japanese is
"Japanese (Anthy)" or possibly "Japanese (Mozc)".

[Bug 1549269] Re: Closing the Location Options menu will hang the Nautilus window

2016-03-05 Thread Cliff Carson
Have built a debug version of nautilus 3.14.3 but not being gdb fluent
don't know how to stop the loop condition to see where it is occurring.
Did place a breakpoint in the nautilus.toolbar.c where the button click
gets control and saw the gdb indicate at that location but the system
was locked up and had to power-off/on to free it. Based on the way this
is failing I don't see where in nautilus code to place breakpoints. It
looks like the failure is occurring outside nautilus. Maybe freeing up
the menu resources?

Thanks Albert for merging it.
Yes it's not finished and I'm intending to pick up last summer's work on the
glib frontend part.

I agree that we should close this bug and open specific ones to track
the frontend development or any other issue we find with the core code.

Now, this is not "all the work".

We still need to do the glib/qt/cpp frontend work, and that will
probably mean some changes to the new code, but getting this merged is
an important step.

Wonder how to proceed, this bug has 122 comments.

Should we close this one and open different ones for the frontends api?
