[Bug 484429] Re: Plugging in a LUKS device causes the following error: Error unlocking device: cryptsetup exited with exit code 239: Command failed: Device already exists
This error is making using encrypted external USB harddrives completely unusable for me. I see that error every time I try to use any (of two completely different) devices after a few minutes, sometimes after a bit longer. There are suggestions on help pages to use "sudo dmsetup remove /dev/mapper/udisks-luks-uuid-" however this fails with a "device busy" message. There are suggestions on help pages to use "sudo cryptsetup luksClose udisks-luks-uuid-x" however this also failes with a "Device or resource busy message". The only temporary way to make this error message go away is to completely reboot my computer, reattach the harddrive, enter the password and use it for a few minutes until the same error appears again. [Bug 1538111] Re: untraceable serious bug in metacity 3.18
@Alberts Okay .. It begins to crash after reverting this patch on the newest metacity version. Metacity crashes up to 4 times today, but doesn't making windows disappearing any more! Without the reverting of this patch, Metacity never crashes itself, but leading to 3-4 times of window missing every day. It seems that this patch makes metacity not crash any more but begin to disappear normal widgets other than nautilus background. So I guess it's very likely that "xrender_free_window" cause this issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1538111 Title: untraceable serious bug in metacity 3.18 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/1538111/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1567630] [NEW] Skype not shown as installation candidate
Public bug reported: I activated Canonical Partners, but Skype did not show up when I used gnome-software to search for it. I have a theory (unconfirmed): I used a 64 bits Xenial, with only amd64 architecture enabled. While the .deb package skype is amd64, it's a meta package. The skype-bin package, with the important files including the .desktop file, is i386. So possibly skype would have showed up in gnome-software if I had first enabled i386 with dpkg --add-architecture i386 OTOH, even if that's the case, I don't think it ought to be necessary. When using Synaptic, skype was shown. A possible fix (workaround?) would be to move the .desktop file from skype-bin to skype. Anyway, I could successfully install Skype from command line, and then it showed up in gnome-software. However, bug #1563322 applies to Skype too. ** Affects: gnome-software (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: skype (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1567630 Title: Skype not shown as installation candidate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1567630/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1262505] Re: Brasero writes slow when 'Maximum Speed' set for DVD disc
Same problem for me. Maximum speed burns at 1.5x - 2.5x continuously fluctuating up then down. I switched the DVD burner and tried 4 DVDs with the same result. Worse yet, manually choosing write speed gives me the options of 4x, 2 identical options of 8x, and 2 identical options of 16x. I randomly chose one of the 8x options and again, same slow result. K3b burned an entire DVD in a little over 5 minutes, achieving 16x which it auto selected, which means the troubleshooting aims straight at Brasero. Brasero was great before, but something changed. ISO images appear to burn normally, at least my last image burn was okay about a month ago. But making a data DVD was terribly slow. [Bug 1565640] Re: Set compositing-manager=false by default
> Probably way easier is to document, to execute in terminal: > gsettings set org.gnome.metacity compositing-manager false It's easy for one sysadmin to run a few commands in a terminal. It's not easy for hundreds of students, e.g. 5-10 years old, to run a few commands in a terminal. Sysadmins (or packagers) can provide a system-wide override with /usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/20_metacity.override but that will only work with new users. They can provide overrides for all users with mandatory gsettings. But the /usr/local/bin/metacity wrapper can have logic to active or deactivate compositing per user, or per machine, based on the CPU, the graphics card etc etc, and it's very easy to integrate it with LTSP. Anyway that part isn't important; the most important thing is if the non-compositing case will be a supported use case in Ubuntu gnome-flashback 16.04 or not. I'll do some more benchmarks with gnome-flashback and with other DEs like Mate/XFCE/LXDE.
