[Bug 1570182] Re: Support sideloading snap packages
The method snappy uses for extracting metadata is: $ unsquashfs -d (some temp dir) package.snap meta/snap.yaml meta/gui/icon.png meta/icon.png This will pull out these metadata files to a temp directory and then they can be parsed by GNOME Software. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1570182 Title: Support sideloading snap packages To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1570182/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1569925] [NEW] Shutdown hang on 16.04 with iscsi targets
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have 4 servers running the latest 16.04 updates from the development branch (as of right now). Each server is connected to NetApp storage using iscsi software initiator. There are a total of 56 volumes spread across two NetApp arrays. Each volume has 4 paths available to it which are being managed by device mapper. While logged into the iscsi sessions all I have to do is reboot the server and I get a hang. I see a message that says: "Reached target Shutdown" followed by "systemd-shutdown[1]: Failed to finalize DM devices, ignoring" and then I see 8 lines that say: "connection1:0: ping timeout of 5 secs expired, recv timeout 5, last rx 4311815***, last ping 43118164**, now 4311817***" "connection2:0: ping timeout of 5 secs expired, recv timeout 5, last rx 4311815***, last ping 43118164**, now 4311817***" "connection3:0: ping timeout of 5 secs expired, recv timeout 5, last rx 4311815***, last ping 43118164**, now 4311817***" "connection4:0: ping timeout of 5 secs expired, recv timeout 5, last rx 4311815***, last ping 43118164**, now 4311817***" "connection5:0: ping timeout of 5 secs expired, recv timeout 5, last rx 4311815***, last ping 43118164**, now 4311817***" "connection6:0: ping timeout of 5 secs expired, recv timeout 5, last rx 4311815***, last ping 43118164**, now 4311817***" "connection7:0: ping timeout of 5 secs expired, recv timeout 5, last rx 4311815***, last ping 43118164**, now 4311817***" "connection8:0: ping timeout of 5 secs expired, recv timeout 5, last rx 4311815***, last ping 43118164**, now 4311817***" NOTE: the actual values of the *'s differ for each line above. This seems like a bug somewhere but I am unaware of any additional logging that I could turn on to pinpoint the problem. Note I also have similar setups that are not doing iscsi and they don't have this problem. Here is a screenshot of what I see on the shell when I try to reboot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/93mv7cj8asspcpa/ShutdownCapture.JPG?dl=0 This is being tracked in NetApp bug tracker CQ number 860251. If I log out of all iscsi sessions before rebooting then I do not experience the hang: iscsiadm -m node -U all We are wondering if this could be some kind of shutdown ordering problem. Like the network devices have already disappeared and then iscsi tries to perform some operation (hence the ping timeouts). ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment xenial -- Shutdown hang on 16.04 with iscsi targets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1569925 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Using stock Nautilus after a dist-upgrade from the latest Daily, I am unable to replicate this. The same error output indicated by the original post of the bug shows, but Nautilus pops up without issue. [Bug 1555569] Re: [snaps] Show human-readable names for store apps
Hello all, Let me share the current state about title, summary and description fields. Currently, the store API exposes these fields for each snap (among others): package_name -> the "technical" package name, such as generic-amd64 (not-editable, but could change due to name disputes or similar) name -> fully qualified name of a package, such as "generic-amd64.canonical" (not-editable, same remark as before) summary -> the package summary, matches the summary field in the snap.yaml file (editable from Store UI) description -> the package description, matches the description field in the snap.yaml file (editable from Store UI) title -> the human readable string for a package, initially is filled with the snap name, but can be edited from the Store UI There is a pending improvement from snappy so the title is also required in the snap.yaml, once that is done, the store will use that to populate the title field. For current examples: https://search.apps.ubuntu.com/api/v1/package/generic-amd64 https://search.apps.ubuntu.com/api/v1/package/bar So specifically to this bug report, I think the Gnome Software should always use the 'title' property from the Store results as the human readable string to show to the user. ** Changed in: software-center-agent Status: Triaged => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/169 Title: [snaps] Show human-readable names for store apps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/click-reviewers-tools/+bug/169/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1569857] [NEW] Installation and uninstallation history - feature request
Public bug reported: I much prefer GNOME Software to the Ubuntu Software Center, however I believe that there is one thing lacking in GS which is present in USC, the installation and uninstallation history. [Bug 1547340] Re: gnome-disks crashed with SIGSEGV in g_dbus_object_get_interface()
Second workaround: gnome-disks works if wiping the whole device (in the format menu) before creating the partition and file system. But this is very slow. It is enough to wipe the first megabyte (actually mibibyte 1024x1024 bytes) which takes less than 1 second compared to 6-16 minutes to wipe the whole device in typical 4 GB pendrives. Wiping the whole device is also causing unnecessary wear of the flash hardware. It possible to do it stepwise. First the partition is created and in the next step the file system. The tools are there but the internal work flow is buggy. Average users will give up long before they have explored all the alternatives. -o- Third workaround: It works with root privileges, but I guess this is not what you developers want ;-) sudo -H gnome-disks First 'Format disk' to create a new partition table, then 'Create partition in unallocated place' at the plus sign. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1547340 Title: gnome-disks crashed with SIGSEGV in g_dbus_object_get_interface() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-disk-utility/+bug/1547340/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
