[Bug 1506704] Re: Thin font, nautilus doesn't integrate with Unity.

2016-04-22 Thread Wiktor: Nizio
It came back right after 16,04 was released, only this time it is worse:

1. The font is thin in the dash, menu, clock
2. Nautilus doesn't integrate with Unity
3. The left wallpaper is weird, as if it was trying to display two resolutions
at the same time
4. There is no wallpaper on the right monitor
5. There are terrible artefacts on the right monitor if I move a window around

This happens around 2/3 of times that I boot.

[Bug 1571500] [NEW] console port speed impossible to set on ttyUSB0

2016-04-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I want to add a console port on a Ubuntu machine to be able to access it
from a terminal server.

This machine has no serial port but lots of USB ports (like most nowadays).
I use a USB-to-serial adapter to have the ttyUSB0 up and listening.

I copied /lib/systemd/system/serial-getty@.service to
/lib/systemd/system/serial-getty@ttyUSB0.service and set the speed to
57600

+++
[Service]
ExecStart=-/sbin/agetty --keep-baud 57600 %I $TERM
+++

the service status shows the right speed

+++
$ sudo systemctl status serial-getty@ttyUSB0.service
● serial-getty@ttyUSB0.service - Serial Getty on ttyUSB0
   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/serial-getty@ttyUSB0.service; enabled;
vendor preset: enabled)
   Active: active (running) since 月 2016-04-18 14:07:30 JST; 58min ago
 Docs: man:agetty(8)
   man:systemd-getty-generator(8)
   http://0pointer.de/blog/projects/serial-console.html
 Main PID: 3017 (agetty)
   CGroup:
/system.slice/system-serial\x2dgetty.slice/serial-getty@ttyUSB0.service
   └─3017 /sbin/agetty --keep-baud 57600 ttyUSB0 vt220
+++

Even so, I can't log in from the serial port at a speed other than
9600...

With such settings I shouldn't even be able to get a right answer at
9600bps, only garbage.

[Bug 1325142] Re: failure to update libpam-systemd in 14.04 due to missing logind init script

2016-04-22 Thread Steve Langasek
It is longstanding practice, predating either upstart or systemd, that
users of Debian and Ubuntu systems should create a /usr/sbin/policy-rc.d
as part of their chroot setup. It is not a bug in the libpam-systemd
package that it tries to start and stop its service using the policy-
declared interface, only to have this fail because you're running in a
chroot and nothing has told the system this.

The fix that was applied to utopic and later is not applicable to
trusty. Later releases "fixed" this problem by removing the upstart
job, no longer needed on systems that run systemd as init. That is not
at all the appropriate fix in trusty.

It is likewise not appropriate to change the libpam-systemd package to
silently ignore failures from invoke-rc.d when trying to start the
systemd-logind service. Such a change would also negatively impact
14.04 systems for the benefit of chroot environments.

This is a systemic problem with the behavior of invoke-rc.d in chroots,
and any fix must also be systemic. This problem is noticeable on the
libpam-systemd package because it's a package that includes an upstart
job but no init script; but many other packages will also misbehave, not
by failing but by *succeeding* and running unsupervised processes that
are not expected to start in the chroot.

So I am marking this bug 'wontfix' for trusty.

The proper package to discuss a fix against is sysvinit, which is where
/usr/sbin/invoke-rc.d comes from in trusty.

I have briefly looked at backporting changes from the xenial /usr/sbin
/invoke-rc.d. However, while the behavior of the xenial version in
chroots appears to be what we're looking for (succeed silently), this
also appears to work only if systemd is detected via the presence of
/run/systemd/system. So this would not solve the problem for all use
cases.

[Bug 1573206] Re: Ubuntu Software does not install third-party .deb packages

2016-04-22 Thread dusk
This is happening to me to.
I cant seem to get either of the workarounds to work. When i try to install the
gdebi package installer in the software center it does the same thing as when I
try to install .deb files.
I had previously installed things via the software center but now nothing is
installing. I can't really do anything on my computer without any software.
Please Fix!

[Bug 1366221] Re: gnome-calculator does not show application menu anywhere

2016-04-22 Thread Jason Curl
Using Unity on Ubuntu 16.04 freshly installed:

jcurl@leon-ubuntu:~/Programming/SerialPortStream/dll/serialunix/build$
gnome-calculator -v
gnome-calculator 3.18.3

The "dconf" tool is a workaround, but I cannot enable the menu by
default. Not sure why it's "low", it's a problem for a long time
(reported in other forums since 13.04). It would sure be nice to have
something to make it easy to move from windows ;)

[Bug 1573755] [NEW] compose and dead keys stopped working in gnome terminal

2016-04-22 Thread Jan Claeys
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to 16.04, entering characters using dead keys and using

[Bug 1573728] [NEW] Files opened with gedit on command line no longer open within the existing gedit session

2016-04-22 Thread Kenneth Wilke
Public bug reported:

Prior to my update today to Ubuntu 16.04, I could open a file using
gedit on the command line and it would open in the gedit window i
already have open. After updating to 16.04 when I open a file with say
`gedit /tmp/myleakycode.c` it opens in a new window.

Oddly, as I was writing this bug report it's now working I expect it to,
where opening files on the CLI adds to my existing session.

I'll follow up if I find some pattern as to what triggers this.

I am running Ubuntu Gnome 16.04 with the 4.4.0-21-generic kernel, gedit

[Bug 1573699] [NEW] Select region during install process cause crash

2016-04-22 Thread Kyle
Public bug reported:

When install the system, on the step which system asks me to select a
region (default is Los Angeles for me). And I tried to change to San
Francisco, but when I type "San", the installer freezes and cannot click
anywhere. I waited for a long time but doesn't work either so has to re-
install.

I can change region with no problem after installation is completed. But
I guess many users are trying to change region while install but most of
them don't know how to file a bug (which takes me 30 minutes to find the
correct way!!! Got to be easier if Ubuntu wants to replace Windows)

Please make the fix. Thanks.

[Bug 1573695] [NEW] System update broken

2016-04-22 Thread Kyle
Public bug reported:

System update easily broken. Here is the procedure. And I believe this
may happen to many Chinese users

I downloaded Sougou Pinyin (the most popular Chinese input app) from
official website which is released the same date 16.04 is released and
claims it supports 16.04.

I downloaded the file sogoupinyin_2.0.0.0072_amd64.deb, and double click
to install. Then Ubuntu Software window pops up. And I click "install",
then no response. And I clicked again, this time a "Waiting to install"
icon appears on the sidebar but never finishes. Then I turned off my PC
and turn it back on again, now I see a red icon appears on top of top
sidebar near time which indicates "An error occurred. Please run Package
Manager ..."

And since then I am not able to install any update.

I believe this is a blocker bug. And I have to re-install the system
again.

[Bug 1573676] [NEW] endless loop when evaluating folder size

2016-04-22 Thread meng
Public bug reported:

I multiselected some folders to check the size of them in property
(right click). Then, the number of size keep growing and then decreasing
and then growing again. It seems that the evaluation sinked in a
infinite looping. BTW, the folders belong to the source code of linux
kernel . I guess it's related to the soft link.

[Bug 1538111] Re: untraceable serious bug in metacity 3.18

2016-04-22 Thread Cui Wei
Hi, I met window missing just now, based on ppa version.

But when I use Ctrl + Shift + I to debug, I found out that the debug
window is also unable to display.

Luckily, I was using nemo, so I switch to tty1 and run:

DISPLAY=:0 gsettings set org.nemo.desktop show-desktop-icons false

Then switching back to desktop, all windows came back. So it is
definitely the background cover all windows.

If I execute "gsettings set org.gnome.gnome-flashback desktop-background
true", then it will also cover all windows, which is similar to this
issue but this issue is cause by nautilus/nemo covering other windows.

[Bug 1573636] [NEW] Ubuntu 16.04 LTS: First weekday set incorrectly in the stock Calendar app (gnome-calendar, ver. 3.20.1)

2016-04-22 Thread Jan Parttimaa
Public bug reported:

I use Ubuntu 16.04 (LTS) with the stock Calendar app (Gnome-calendar,
ver. 3.20.1). My system language is en_US however my regional is fi_FI.

The Gnome Calendar Shell is showing the first day of the week as a
monday (which is correct in this region) however the stock calendar app
is still showing Sunday.

Here's my exact locale settings:
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=en_US
LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC=fi_FI.UTF-8
LC_TIME=fi_FI.UTF-8
LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY=fi_FI.UTF-8
LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER=fi_FI.UTF-8
LC_NAME=fi_FI.UTF-8
LC_ADDRESS=fi_FI.UTF-8
LC_TELEPHONE=fi_FI.UTF-8
LC_MEASUREMENT=fi_FI.UTF-8
LC_IDENTIFICATION=fi_FI.UTF-8
LC_ALL=

I've tried changing my "/usr/share/i18n/locales/en_US" values into this as a
root user:

week7;19971130;4
first_weekday   2
first_workday   2

the fi_FI is following:

week 7;19971130;4
first_weekday 2 % Monday
first_workday 2 % Monday

Then I did 'sudo locale-gen' and reboot the PC but it's still showing
sunday as a first day of the week on the stock Calendar app.

[Bug 1573619] Re: Signing with GPG fails (regression)

2016-04-22 Thread Steffen Neumann
Searching some more, I found that gpg --decrypt foo-message.txt.gpg
launched in the terminal *will* open the gpg-agent passphrase input window.

So it seems evolution is not calling that the right way.

Checking my /var/log/apt/history.log.1.gz it could be that
things broke with 3.18.5.2-0ubuntu1

Steffen

[Bug 1573619] [NEW] Signing with GPG fails (regression)

2016-04-22 Thread Steffen Neumann
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have a fresh install of 16.04 since several weeks, and regularly apply
updates.
Somewhere along the lines Evolution stopped to sign a mail with gpg, instead
I get the error message:

  Because "gpg: writing to '-'
  gpg: signing failed: No passphrase given
  gpg: signing failed: No passphrase given
  ", you may need to select different mail options.

note the double "gpg: signing failed. Unsure if that is relevant.

gpg --list-keys works, and has the key I have in Prefs -> Mail Accounts
-> Edit -> Security

Originally, I got a popup asking for my gpg passphrase, I don't get
that since some update anymore. I'd suspect that is the cluprit.

There is a process gpg-agent running:
gpg-agent --homedir /home/sneumann/.gnupg --use-standard-socket --daemon

=> How to manually invoke the gpg signing with window asking for passphrase ?
Can I check that gpg-agent does what it is supposed to ?

Yours,
Steffen

@Patryk I'm going to retest on 16.04 after I install it. But since my

purging the keyrings. Seems like this has happened at least 4-6 times a

I've attached some screen shots, if it's more understandable than my
not-so-perfect English, sorry about that.

Moreover, I had the suspect that it can be a generic window manager
issue more, rather than gnome-terminal specific problem, but starting
the KDE console (konsole) its fullscreen toggle functionality seems to
be OK, just I have problem with the gnome-terminal, it seems.

[Bug 1573563] [NEW] Toggling full screen mode does not work well after upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04 from 15.10

2016-04-22 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
Public bug reported:

I use tons of terminal windows (gnome-terminal) all the time for various
tasks. Thus, it's important for me to be able to go into full screen
mode (F11) - if I need more attention or space and switch back later.

I haven't got any problem with this in previous Ubuntu versions, after
"switching back" from fullscreen mode, I got the terminal window at its
original place and size. However, after upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04
recently, if I press F11 to switch back, the terminal window is enlarged
to cover almost the full desktop, it's not "full screen" anymore (that's
OK), ie I can see panel, borders, etc, but still it's not the original
size and position of the window. So I have to manually resize the window
all the time.

I wonder why this bug report is set as bug #1573453's duplicate...which
doesn't seem anyway better than this one.

[Bug 1538111] Re: untraceable serious bug in metacity 3.18

2016-04-22 Thread Cui Wei
Firstly, I didn't meet window missing bug with the ppa version till now,
but I'm not sure whether it will happen several days later (Just like
what I had said at #43, it took around 4-5 days to produce one window
missing ..)

Secondly, as for the new issue (title rendering problem), I can provide
the following information:

My Physical PC:

$ lspci | grep NV -i
01:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM107M [GeForce GTX 850M] (rev a2)

$ lsmod | grep nou
nouveau  1495040  0
mxm_wmi16384  1 nouveau
ttm98304  1 nouveau
i2c_algo_bit   16384  2 i915,nouveau
drm_kms_helper139264  2 i915,nouveau
drm   360448  11 ttm,i915,drm_kms_helper,nouveau
wmi20480  3 msi_wmi,mxm_wmi,nouveau
video  40960  3 i915,msi_wmi,nouveau

-

Open gnome-terminal (or firefox / nautilus / gedit or any other apps
that can support multi tab-pages), and confirm that

1、Makeing the window maximized
2、Using Composite Manager

Then, Ctrl + Shift + T to generate a new tab page, then switching it
will leave the edge shadow of each charactor in the title unerased, like
what I had shown in the above image.

I have tested that,

1、without composite manager, this issue (edge of each title charactor is
unerased) doesn't happen, even when the window is maximized.

2、If the window is not maximized, this issue also doesn't happen, even
when  Composite Manager is enabled.

3、this issue doesn't happen inside my created virtualbox, even if this
virtualbox runs on my current metacity session, with composite manager
enabled.

[Bug 1538111] Re: untraceable serious bug in metacity 3.18

2016-04-22 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
Does it happens always? I can not reproduce it...

In ppa has current upstream version (from gnome-3-18 branch) - will be
released as 3.18.4 and it includes big changes to fix performance
problems.

Have you seen your previous problems (crash, missing windows) with that
version?
