[Bug 1574707] Re: update-motd-fsck-at-reboot notify checked for errors at next reboot even after reboot

2016-04-25 Thread Steve Langasek
You received this message not because the maximum mount count was
reached, but because the 'Next check after' date was in the past.

  Next check after Tue Jan 12 23:11:26 2016

So this is not a problem with the output of update-motd-fsck-at-reboot,
at all; rather, it is a bug in your boot that is *not* checking the
filesystem, given the filesystem's settings. Reassigning to systemd.

[Bug 1574707] [NEW] update-motd-fsck-at-reboot notify checked for errors at next reboot even after reboot

2016-04-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I had the following message on Ubuntu 15.10
*** /dev/sda10 will be checked for errors at next reboot ***
*** /dev/sda1 will be checked for errors at next reboot ***

This was displayed even after rboot.

I pgrade to 16.04 and still the same problem.

I took a look at the /usr/lib/update-notifier/update-motd-fsck-at-reboot and
for /dev/sda10, I had something like this :
Mount count 28
Maximum mount count 30
Check interval  15552000
Next check afterTue Jan 12 23:11:26 2016

The message was not displayed anymore after 2 reboot, in order to reach
Mount count to 30, and greater or equals to Maximum mount count.

It seems that the file check was not until the Mount count >= Maximum
mount count

More over, on the platform, I have two partitions with following "name" :
/dev/sda1
/dev/sda10

When the first one is verified by the script, the command "mount | grep
"^$part" | cut -d ' ' -f 3" does not give te right result.
mount | grep "^/dev/sda10" | cut -d ' ' -f 3 give result :
/

But
mount | grep "^/dev/sda1" | cut -d ' ' -f 3
/
/usr

May be not a big deal, because, the mount point is only used to find value in
the file /etc/fstab, in order to specialize the message, but many be there is
an error anywhere else.

Regards

Etienne

[Bug 1574896] [NEW] appstreamcli: double free or corruption with certain metadata

2016-04-25 Thread Matthias Klumpp
Public bug reported:

This crash happens if a certain combination of metadata and (not) availability
of icons is met.
See the linked Debian bug report for details.
This bug manifests itself usually during an apt update run, if PPAs or other
sources with that metadata are available.
A debdiff which solves this problem is attached.

[Bug 1574889] [NEW] gnome-software will not install a package with un-met dependencies

2016-04-25 Thread Aere Greenway
Public bug reported:

gnome-software (Software Install) fails to resolve un-met dependencies
(installing them) when installing a Debian package.

In prior releases, Ubuntu Software Center (and Gdebi) would do this.

In the 16.04, when you click the "Install" button, it re-displays (as
with other installation cases), but when you again click the "Install"
button, it appears to hang, with the system apparently doing nothing,
and no progress indicator of any type visible.

In 16.04, the Gdebi Package Installer still does successfully install
the dependencies, and install the package.

After installing the dependencies (using Gdebi) Software Install (gnome-
software) would then successfully install the package, so it appears to
be a problem with installing the dependencies.

The release I am using here is Ubuntu-Gnome 16.04, but the problem was
also observed on all other Ubuntu 'flavors' using gnome-software as the
installer.

The version of the package gnome-software is:
3.20.1+git20160420.1.ca63436.ubuntu-xenial-0ubuntu2

I expected it to install the dependencies, and then install the package
(as Ubuntu Software Center used to do).

What happened instead, is it appeared to hang, with the system doing
nothing (I waited a few minutes, and didn't see the DSL modem flashing,
and nothing further happened). I eventually gave up, and installed the
package using gdebi. After doing that (and the dependencies were
installed), gnome-software would successfully install the package it
wouldn't install before.

I have attached one of the Debian packages I was trying to install
(which Gdebi successfully installed).

2016-04-25 Thread GeeMac
Hi... Well It can be a partial fix. I haven't seen the pop up error yet, but
now when I hover some items in the Task panel some of the text explanations
(tool bar tips) or what ever Linux calls them go blank or black with or without
text.
Not sure if that is related, but that started after I took a new set of updates
along with the Libcairo2 update.

2016-04-25 Thread Alberto Salvia Novella
Just happened to me. It hangs the entire upgrade and it is impossible to
continue. The only thing you can do is to hard shut down the computer,
and notice it no longer boots.

Trying to fix packages in any form does not fix the problem.

[Bug 1574833] [NEW] setkey is not run automatically on system start

2016-04-25 Thread MegaBrutal
Public bug reported:

The „setkey” service should run at system startup to add keys defined in
/etc/ipsec-tools.conf.

However, no keys are defined after system boot:

root@ReThinkCentre:~# setkey -D
No SAD entries.

After inquiring systemd, I learn this:

root@ReThinkCentre:~# systemctl status setkey
● setkey.service - LSB: option to manually manipulate the IPsec SA/SP database
   Loaded: loaded (/etc/init.d/setkey; bad; vendor preset: enabled)
   Active: inactive (dead)
 Docs: man:systemd-sysv-generator(8)

ápr 25 21:15:28 ReThinkCentre systemd[1]: setkey.service: Job
setkey.service/start deleted to break ordering cycle starting with
sysinit.target/start

Upon manually calling „systemctl start setkey” after the system booted
up, the keys are added properly – but it is not feasible to do after
each reboot.

Moreover, I can't help to notice that /etc/init.d/setkey is a legacy
SysV init script. No proper systemd service file seems to exist for
setkey. I think it would be a great time to add one.

2016-04-25 Thread teo1978
> According to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance this should be at
least a 'medium' importance bug

It's at least high (severe impact on a [not at all] small portion of
users) if not critical: if Nautilus stops responding you are almost
forced to kill it, which leaves a random portion of the files moved and
the rest unmoved with no easy way to undo or complete the action. That
can be considered data corruption.

[Bug 1574822] [NEW] [Wishlist] Support dark variant of Ambiance theme

2016-04-25 Thread Ericwill
Public bug reported:

This is a feature request and not bug, as far as I know.

I'm an SWT developer working on Eclipse. Eclipse has a dark theme for
GTK3 which basically uses the system dark theme/variant to style itself.

We have lots of Ubuntu users who report bugs with the Eclipse dark theme
because Ubuntu does not ship a dark variant of Ambiance. In contrast,
upstream GTK ships their default Adwaita theme with both dark and light
variants.

As the title suggests, would it be possible for Ubuntu to have an
Ambiance-dark variant?

[Bug 1574810] [NEW] Highlighting and output showing issues on 16.04

2016-04-25 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
Public bug reported:

I have noticed that on Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.20 that often
when I execute a command although the cursor goes to the right place and
still blinks as it should the output is not shown until I press Enter
once more:

gnome-terminal_16-04_Execute_Invisible_Output_Issue.png

gnome-terminal_16-04_Execute_Shown_Output_Issue.png

I have also noticed that often when clicking and dragging to select text
though when I copy and paste it somewhere else I can see that all the
text was really selected, it doesn't show all the text to be selected
(it is normally much more extreme with many more lines missing the
highlighting than shown here though):

gnome-terminal_16-04_Highlighting_Issue1.png

I have also noticed that if I select text but then move my mouse the
other way some of the text doesn't get unselected as it should:

gnome-terminal_16-04_Highlighting_Issue2.png

Don't let the fact that the screenshots are from my Ubuntu (Unity) 16.04
VM confuse you though, the same happens on my GNOME one, I just had my
Unity one open at the time when I wanted to take the sreenshots.

[Bug 1557797] Re: Big bug : CPU 100% load with gvfsd-smb-browse on Ubuntu Mate 16.04

2016-04-25 Thread Etienne Papegnies
This used to happen to me while running Ubuntu MATE 16.04 Beta 2.
I killed the process, it respawned and resumed eating one of my cores.
I killed it again, it respawned again.
I forgot to kill it, and it somehow ran for a while, then stopped. Haven't seen
that happen in a while now.

2016-04-25 Thread Simon
Honestly I simply cannot understand how this bug is already three years
old and not even it's importance (current status 'undecided') has been
determined yet.

According to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance this should be at
least a 'medium' importance bug (A bug that has a moderate impact on a
core application.) and be treated as such.

2016-04-25 Thread Bob Harvey
OK, that's weird. My M10 tablet has stopped doing thatthung that's in the gif.
it was flickering away before I powered it down, and when I powered up - no
flickering.. I did two things before powering down that might have affected it
* I switched to 'gps only'
* I logged into HERE maps

The 'location' indicator is now off, and there is no gps position..

[Bug 1573755] Re: compose and dead keys stopped working in gnome terminal

2016-04-25 Thread Jan Claeys
You can possibly work around this by selecting another input method (IM)
with 'im-config' or by removing ~/.xinputrc (which selects the default
for your locale) and then reboot (or restart X11—log out & back in is
not always enough).

The default IM for most languages is 'ibus' which you can configure with
'ibus-setup' if necessary (but only after the X restart!).

For some reason the ibus developers think it's funny to show a "smiley
face" during entering of a Compose sequence, but otherwise it seems to
work okay now.

[Bug 1568056] Re: Official Package-Names Not Shown in Gnome-Software

2016-04-25 Thread Lonnie Lee Best
1) Previous software managers, in Ubuntu, indicated the package-name
upon viewing the details of software, and therefore it has become my go-
to-GUI for discovering package-names.

2) Even when I use a GUI to install software, I like to take note of the
official package name so that I can add that package-name to my notes,
and so that I can later install *all my software* (on a fresh install)
with one "sudo apt-get install" command (without having to relocate each
software again via a Software Manager: gnome-software).

3) When I have an issue with a program, I report bugs using this command:
ubuntu-bug packageName
I like having a GUI for discovering the package name: If I installed it using
the GUI, that's where I want to go back to in order to see the package name I
installed via that GUI. I don't want to memorize a command for discovering
which package I initially used gnome-software to install; the GUI that I
searched from (originally -- when I installed the software) is the same GUI I
want to search to discover what I originally installed.

4) The official package name is pertinent information to advance users
(who may know commands, but prefer GUIs).

5) Including the package name doesn't take up much room; it does not
clutter the interface for users who don't care about package names,
while also providing pertinent information to advance user.

[Bug 1574163] [NEW] systemd[1]: Failed to start Load Kernel Modules.

2016-04-25 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I recently upgraded to ubuntu 16.04 and since then my startup time has almost
doubled.
Also, i can see the following failure in the loading of a service.

Description:Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
Release:16.04

Here is the log,

$ systemctl status systemd-modules-load.service

I don't know why this is happening. Also my /usr/lib/modules-load.d/
 directory is empty. If you need more logs/details regarding the bug then i

[Bug 1574725] [NEW] Cannot access settings from "Software Updater" when I have to restart due to updates.

2016-04-25 Thread Tim Hitchins
Public bug reported:

Currently, Software Update says "Please restart the computer to begin
using your updated software" (something I thought was no longer required
as of kernel 4.X - but I digress).

http://imgur.com/fQzxHnG

I wish to access the settings as there seems to be an issue with the
update server I am connected to. So I click settings, and nothing
happens.

How can I access settings when I have to restart for updates?

[Bug 1574566] Re: package libvirt-bin 1.3.1-1ubuntu10 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2016-04-25 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks, but actually the systemd.service(5) manpage tells me what I
needed.

The fix for you should be to edit your /lib/systemd/system/libvirt-
bin.service file to read:

[Unit]
Description=Virtualization daemon
Before=libvirt-guests.service
After=network.target
After=dbus.service
After=iscsid.service
After=apparmor.service
After=local-fs.target
After=remote-fs.target
Documentation=man:libvirtd(8)
Documentation=http://libvirt.org

[Service]
Type=notify
EnvironmentFile=-/etc/default/libvirt-bin
ExecStart=/usr/sbin/libvirtd $libvirtd_opts
ExecReload=/bin/kill -HUP $MAINPID
KillMode=process
Restart=on-failure
LimitNOFILE=infinity
LimitNPROC=infinity
TasksMax=infinity
NotifyAccess=all

[Install]
WantedBy=multi-user.target
Also=virtlockd.socket
Also=virtlogd.socket

In other words, just add the
NotifyAccess=all
line in the second section.

I'll push that to the 16.10 package and SRU the change to wily and
xenial.

Thanks!

[Bug 1565384] Re: software update failes if suspend while download, does not go on

2016-04-25 Thread Robert Ancell
The Unity issue is bug 1553165.

It doesn't seem immediately obvious that gnome-software should inhibit
suspend - if you use other methods to install (e.g. from the command
line) these wont stop a suspend from occurring. Downgrading priority due
to this.

[Bug 1574666] [NEW] Updates tab slow to load due to downloading changelog information

2016-04-25 Thread Robert Ancell
Public bug reported:

Changelog information is downloaded from changelogs.ubuntu.com. These
must all be loaded before the updates tab is populated.

This is slow because:
- Changelogs are downloaded for non-GUI packages (bug 1554166)
- Changelogs are downloaded sequentially.

Downloading in parallel would speed this up significantly.

you should report a separate issue about the unity lock/segfault issue,
also copying thousand of images work fine usually, unsure what is
specific with your system that creates the issue ... does it work better
if you copy from a command line or other software?.
