[Bug 575877] Re: gnome-keyring mysteriously asks for keyring password on startup

2016-07-14 Thread Bryce Nesbitt
This seems to still be an issue: and it's a serious issue when a semi
public computer is involved, as those using the computer won't know the
password.

It is also a problem to train users to enter their password when a
prompt box comes up: that's just ripe for abuse.

See also:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/867/how-can-i-stop-being-prompted-to-unlock-the-default-keyring-on-boot

---
Better and more secure the above cases is a mode for gnome-keyring "never
prompt".

[Bug 1481240] Re: Can't get correct location information before use other GPS apps

2016-07-14 Thread Ferdinand Thommes
With the Pro 5, the problem still exists. Last year I reviewed the MX4
and NearBy located me in the city of Gemünden, about 500 KM away from my
real location in Berlin. Refreshing did not work in most cases. The Pro
5 locates me in the exact same place that the MX4 did. I have no idea
why location works sometimes but not always. Unfortunately I had to
return the device today, so I can't be of any more help with debugging.
So this is just a 'me too' and 'bug is still there' statemnent.

Other apps like HERE or uNav do fine with locating.

[Bug 1603151] [NEW] systemctl isolate anyname.target not working

2016-07-14 Thread Robert M. Koretsky
Public bug reported:

On Ubuntu 16.04 Cinammon, systemctl isolate multi-user.target hangs the system.
I've tried editing the multi-user.target file as a snippet, or the whole thing,
but with no fix.
The system flashes a very momentary prompt to login as a single user without a
GUI, but then the screen goes black and the system is hung.
Same on Linux Mint 18.
systemctl isolate multi-user.target works successfully on OpenSuse Leap 42.1,
and CentOS 7, as I tested the command on these other systems to check. The
glaring difference I noticed is that in the multi-user.target unit file,
AllowIsolate and CanIsolate is set to yes in the other Linux systems, but to no
in Ubuntu.

[Bug 1563155] Re: No Application Data Found

2016-07-14 Thread Don Esposito
Additional info re: my comment above. I have Ubuntu 16.04 running on
two PCs, an Asus laptop and HP desktop. On 7/7 both were having this
issue but since then the laptop somehow self corrected after applying
updates a couple of days later. The desktop is still not working but
all updates have been run.

Side note: I discovered that if I run command sudo gnome-software from
terminal, Software Center opens with all applications showing normally.
Is that a viable workaround? I'm reluctant to try installing
applications that way because I don't want to have to run them as root.
Any thoughts?
