[Bug 1611188] [NEW] Bluetooth doesn't work after recovering computer from sleeping
Public bug reported: I'm not sure which package is not working properly. I know the easy way to solve the problem, which it doesn't make sense really but it works: 1. When the PC recovers from sleeping, the bluetooth indicator is dark and bluetooth mouse doesn't work. First step is to click (with the built-in laptop mouse, of course) on "visible" to turn off visibility. Somehow the bluetooth is enabled, then. 2. Then you have to click visible to switch it on again. Then you click on your bluetooth mouse and it connects in 0.0s. If you don't follow these two steps and try to do other, more logical things (like putting your laptop on airplane mode through the physical switch, or turn off and on bluetooth) you'll get in trouble. Sometimes you have to delete the mouse from bluetooth devices and pair it again. The solution is easy, I've got used to it and it's superfast, but people who don't find this procedure -which I found by luck- will get very frustrated unless this bug is fixed. Oh, I had this problem in previous Ubuntu versions (15.10, 15.04 and maybe before) but at some point it got solved. I don't remember if I had this problem after updating to 16.04, but I did a clean install recently and got it back. [Bug 1575484] Re: "Set document metadata failed"
I'm with the same problem when I try to edit grub config file. So searched over another places and found this: "If I recall correctly from a previous discussion about this sort of thing, the problem is that when you su to root a lot of your environment which is required for the correct running of Gnome GUI apps is not set up appropriately. The consensus from the developers seemed to be that running GUIs as root was generally a bad idea and should not be encouraged. Perhaps an alternative (nano?) or just use vi." http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=303374 If I've understood right I've to switch to another editor. So I'll try the same line in terminal switching "gedit" for "nano". I've switched to "sudo nano gedit /boot/grub/grub.cfg" and sucess until now. I've to reboot and see if grub is now with the new settings ready to go. This is because gnome-terminal now correctly delivers the right-click event to vim (or any application that is interested in mouse events). In 14.04 it was impossible for vim (or any other app) to receive right- clicks in gnome-terminal. [Bug 1610721] [NEW] Ctrl+S in terminal causes shutdown/reboot (init) to hang
You have been subscribed to a public bug: 1. Boot an Ubuntu 16.04 machine that doesn't have an X server installed 2. When you get the terminal log-in prompt (on tty1), instead of logging in, press Ctrl+S to stop terminal flow 3. Connect to the machine via SSH 4. Run "sudo init 0" via SSH The init command hangs. Only when you press Ctrl+Q in the terminal does the machine shut down. This behavior is confusing when you accidentally hit Ctrl+S. It also means that you cannot shut down or reboot the machine remotely if someone has pressed Ctrl+S locally. Pressing the power button instead of running "init 0" produces the behavior as well - nothing happens until you press Ctrl+Q. I'm attaching a screen recording to illustrate the problem. ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: bot-comment -- Ctrl+S in terminal causes shutdown/reboot (init) to hang https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1610721 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1611015] [NEW] Hide view and action pop-up menus in Unity
Public bug reported: After I submitted the merge for 3.20.1-1ubuntu1, I saw that evince's traditional_menu_bar.patch has this comment: "The view and action menus are hidden when the menubar is shown" And in fact, the original patch does have that feature but this was skipped in at least the xenial version. Someone will need to merge the changes to shell/ev-toolbar.c from that patch to the current patch. https://git.gnome.org/browse/evince/commit/?h=wip/gmenu=8b2440b23466b2b9e30a92122b4ed9496484ae54 I'm attaching the patch here in case the Evince developers decide to prune old branches. ** Affects: evince (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Patch added: "original-traditional_menu_bar.patch" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1611015/+attachment/4716803/+files/original-traditional_menu_bar.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1611015 Title: Hide view and action pop-up menus in Unity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1611015/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1589611] Re: gnome-terminal crash on non-utf8 locale
In my case, I had a happy, up-to-date Xenial Ubuntu installation. I decided to load the xubuntu packages too, as an alternative desktop. Switching back to regular Ubuntu later, gnome-terminal no longer works, for the above reasons. Having determined that the problem is that DBus isn't providing correct locale information, I have used: * "sudo locale-gen --purge" * "sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales" (selecting only en_GB locales that are UTF-8) * "sudo gnome-language-selector" (ditto) ...and rebooted after each, but gnome-terminal still fails with status 8 when launched from xterm. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1589611 Title: gnome-terminal crash on non-utf8 locale To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1589611/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1582034] Re: Eye Of Gnome doesn't refresh automatically the image when it is edited in 16.04
** Description changed: - When a image is open in EOG and edited in a image editor (for example: - Gimp), the image in EOG isn't refreshed. I must browse to next or - previous image to refresh the edited image. + * Impact + When a image is open in EOG and edited in a image editor (for example: Gimp), the image in EOG isn't refreshed. - But, when I do it, the image showed in EOG is the first image in the - folder. When there is many images in the folder, the work becomes - terrible. + * Test case + - open an image in eog + - edit the same image with another software, e.g gimp or shotwell viewer + - look if the eog version refresh on changes + + * Impact + the change is in the file monitor code, just check the behaviour on external changes (replace the image, edit it, etc) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to eog in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1582034 Title: Eye Of Gnome doesn't refresh automatically the image when it is edited in 16.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/eog/+bug/1582034/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
