[Bug 1623666] Re: iOS10 will not connect to Ubuntu
I actually discovered the root cause. GnuTLS doesn't work with iOS. [Bug 1623666] Re: iOS10 will not connect to Ubuntu
The libimobiledevice package for Ubuntu was built with --disable-openssl which forces GnuTLS. GnuTLS does not work with the recent iOS10 update. Solution: rebuild the package so that it links against OpenSSL again. This will resolve issues connecting to iOS 10 devices. I tested the latest development version of GnuTLS (@ commit 1e84b90feed97ee458b7113665300e6bc444798f of master HEAD) and it does not work with iOS 10 devices. [Bug 1638153] [NEW] metacity crashed with signal 5 in XGetWindowAttributes()
Public bug reported: This began when I upgraded to 16.10, it always happens when using Gimp under Gnome-flashback. Occasionally it happens with other apps too. The quickest way to reproduce is to open up an image in Gimp, select all, copy and then exit. That's when Metacity crashes. The bad part is, if I don't run 'metacity --replace' before launching gimp, it causes the entire session to quit and go back to the login screen. (I know why it does that, but there should be some better error handling there so people don't lose their work or any other in progress things, at least with just metactity crashed there's a way of restarting metacity and keeping the current session, as well as the ability to save work in other applications before restarting) Ubuntu 16.10 Metacity 1:3.20.3-1ubuntu2 ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10 Package: metacity 1:3.20.3-1ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.8.0-26.28-generic 4.8.0 Uname: Linux 4.8.0-26-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.3-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: GNOME-Flashback:Unity Date: Mon Oct 31 21:57:27 2016 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/metacity ExecutableTimestamp: 1475585823 InstallationDate: Installed on 2010-12-09 (2154 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Release amd64 (20101007) ProcCmdline: metacity --replace ProcCwd: /home/kyle Signal: 5 SourcePackage: metacity StacktraceTop: XGetWindowAttributes (dpy=0x556f34ceed40, w=, attr=) at ../../src/GetWAttrs.c:149 () () () () Title: metacity crashed with signal 5 in XGetWindowAttributes() UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm audio cdrom dialout dip disk fax floppy fuse lpadmin netdev plugdev powerdev sambashare scanner sudo tape vboxusers video wireshark ** Affects: metacity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-crash need-amd64-retrace yakkety ** Information type changed from Private to Public -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1638153 Title: metacity crashed with signal 5 in XGetWindowAttributes() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/1638153/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1614050] Re: Window depth order messed up
Uploaded the fix into Xenial SRU queue. Sorry for the delay. ** Description changed: - Using the gome-flashback session with metacity is totally messed up - since I updated from Ubuntu 14.04.3 to 16.04.1. + # Test Case + Described in comment https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/1614050/comments/16 + + # Impact + Sometimes the window depth order is wrong, for example the desktop icons appear above all windows. Also sometimes windows disappear and the only way to bring them back to life is restarting Metacity. This can result in loss of work results for users who do not know how to deal with this bug. + + # Fix + The Xenial fix is composed of two upstream commits, in gnome-3-18 branch: + - https://git.gnome.org/browse/metacity/commit/?id=d5f9e42e30c67d07 + - https://git.gnome.org/browse/metacity/commit/?id=72488dc76ee24a3e + + # Regression Potential + The patch has been in Yakkety for almost a month, and nobody complained. + + = + Using the gome-flashback session with metacity is totally messed up since I updated from Ubuntu 14.04.3 to 16.04.1. All the effects mentioned here do not appear when using compiz, so I guess Metacity is broken. -Windows that should open in front (like Kupfer) appear behind the windows already open. -Before nemo is run, the Ubuntu default desktop background image appear, it can't be changed by settings. I just guess this is due wrong ordering of the true background and some window used by Gnome for showing the selected background. -If nemo is run to take over the desktop, the destkop icons appear in front of all windows. - - I guess all those effects originate from a similiar reason. None of these problems where appearant at Ubuntu 14.04. + I guess all those effects originate from a similiar reason. None of + these problems where appearant at Ubuntu 14.04. This is a total show stopper for using metacity on 16.04 as everyday applications like nemo and Kupfer can't be used. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to metacity in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1614050 Title: Window depth order messed up To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/1614050/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 887821] Re: "Show copy dialog" right click launcher entry doesn't work (on nautilus copy)
Happens to me on a fresh install of 16.04.1. The progress dialogue was there until I hit Show Desktop - no keyboard shortcuts bring it back - right-click launcher in Unity panel and "Show Copy Dialogue" does absolutely nothing - I do not have an arrow-in-folder app-indicator on the top panel - nothing listed here or and web pages I've looked at. The only way I know it is still copying is that in the Unity launcher there is a small progress-bar across it, and if I bring up Properties for the target folder I can briefly see the number of files increase. I really hoped this would have been fixed by now - this problem has plagued my brother since 12.04, and is one of the main reasons I ended up going KDE. But I figured I'd give Unity another shot on my new PC with a fresh install, and I'd really like to stick with it (but having no visible file operation progress basically kills it for me). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/887821 Title: "Show copy dialog" right click launcher entry doesn't work (on nautilus copy) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/887821/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
