[Bug 1626935] Re: [yakkety] desktop is black and/or flickering after plugging in a second monitor
@Christopher: 1) It's a physical machine (my laptop). 2) I'm using Ubuntu 16.10. 3) Graphics-wise, it's a standard installation except for the 4.9-rc3 kernel from mainline and a PPA for nvidia graphics drivers (but I wasn't using the nvidia card at the time this happened, it was all on the Intel GPU). I only mentioned it because it looked exactly like what this bug would have looked like if the laptop screen had been resized to a larger vertical resolution, say from 1920x900 to 1920x1080, and because just like this bug, killing and restarting nautilus fixed it (and I *was* already running the updated nautilus 1:3.20.3-1ubuntu3.1). I haven't seen it happen again, though, so it's not worth following up on at this stage since I can't readily reproduce it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1626935 Title: [yakkety] desktop is black and/or flickering after plugging in a second monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1626935/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1626935] Re: [yakkety] desktop is black and/or flickering after plugging in a second monitor
This also fixes a defect we are seeing in a VMWare guest with Ubuntu 16.10. [Bug 1593998] Re: Using 'Browse' to find an app for the 'Command' section (New Item), backslashes are not automatically inserted for spaces
** Description changed: To reproduce, open Alacarte and click 'New Item'. Then browse for a file/application which is stored in a directory which contains spaces. If you add that item, backslashes won't be automatically inserted to allow the command to work with the directories which have spaces. E.g. `/home/user/Ubuntu\ Programs/firefox/firefox` is instead written by the program as `/home/user/Ubuntu Programs/firefox/firefox`. As a result, when you've added a name for the launcher, you're not able to add the launcher (the OK button remains greyed out). Of course, the really easy workaround is to just add the backslashes by hand, but it's very frustrating when you think you've added the launcher and you don't spot what's wrong! It should 'just work'. + + Alternatively, the program could put speech marks ("") round the file + path, this is what Startup Applications (gnome-session-properties) does.
