[Bug 1620806] Re: gedit edit window is transparent when using Ambiance and Radiance themes

2016-11-06 Thread Chris Martin
Just a quick update..
The content of the .xinputrc file was a single line

   run_im xim

I think that this may have something to do with the problem.

.xinputrc is generated by language settings when you change the input type.
in 16.10 when I set the input type to none the new .xinputrc file contains

   run_im none

And the background is still OK in gedit & calc etc

So the problem is the content of the .xinputrc file and not the presence
of the file.

[Bug 1620806] Re: gedit edit window is transparent when using Ambiance and Radiance themes

2016-11-06 Thread Chris Martin
I had the same problem after the 16.04 -> 16.10 upgrade
I noticed that newly created users did NOT have the problem.
So its was probably a config issue
I resolved it by removing the "~/.xinputrc" file in my home directory. which
is not present in a new users home directory.
This has worked on all system I have upgraded to date

The package is unity-control-center not gnome-control-center and seems
to be due to missing appstream data.

[Bug 1639631] [NEW] Strange behavior when going from ac to battery mode (suspend)

2016-11-06 Thread Michael
Public bug reported:

Scenario:

Laptop is set to go in standby after 60 min inactivity only(!) when on
battery.

Laptop is on AC and left without use for 90 min.
Laptop is then disconnected from battery.

Symptom:
Laptop goes to standby at once!

The Bug seems that the inactivity timer is not reset when going from ac to
battery (or the switch isn't seen as activity)

It is very annoying, because if you switch the Laptop to battery you
_want_ to do something with the laptop in the near future (seconds to
minutes) in 95% of the cases...

Using a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit with gnome 3 flashback +
compizz

[Bug 1606627] Re: In Unity, global & locally integrated menus don't show if (gk)sudo ?

2016-11-06 Thread Coeur Noir
** Description changed:

  Hi,

when run through (gk)sudo in 16.04.1

  - gedit has no global or locally integrated menus, instead it falls back
to CSD but withouth the cog for accessing important features ( search,
  replace… ) !

  - Nautilus, synaptic… have no global or locally integrated menus, instead it
shows an old-fashioned style still menu, at least usable but space wasting.
  ___

- 2016.10.02 : any chance the CSD part in gedit might get fixed because
- this is really a daily pain…

[Bug 1639604] [NEW] Pcitures have worng (and long expired) thumbnails

2016-11-06 Thread Rüdiger Kupper
Public bug reported:

I have shotwell showing a lot of wrong thumbnails. Many of the photos shown in
thumbnails should not be in the database any longer, since they were removed a
long time ago. Clicking these thumbnails reveals that they do not refer to the
picture shown, but a completely different one.
>From the tags attached to the picture it is obvious that the thumbnail is
>wrong, not the picture attached to it.
So the question is: How could the database get into that state, where pictures
in the library have wrong thumbnails (showing pictures long ago removed). This
state is very disturbing. How can it be fixed?

[Bug 728525] Re: benchmark window is not descriptive enough

2016-11-06 Thread xennex82
I have no clue, or I had no clue whether it was destructive or not. I
still don't know.

Actually it seems to have just wiped my partition table.

There was a GPT partition table on there and it is gone.

It tells you to back up your data but that is a warning given by many
programs that are not destructive in the slightest (except if you mess
up).

So why doesn't it just tell you it will destroy stuff? It might just as
well write and then write back the original data, or actually write the
original data in the first place, we can't tell.
