[Bug 1646304] [NEW] Nautilus won't start
Public bug reported: I tried to start Nautilus normally by clicking the "Files" icon on the launcher, but it didn't start even though the icon pulsed for a while. I then opened a terminal and typed "nautilus", and watched what happened in System Monitor. There seemed to be a Nautilus process trying to start for a while, but then it disappeared altogether. 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu Description:Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS Release:16.04 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center nautilus: Installed: 1:3.18.4.is.3.14.3-0ubuntu5 Candidate: 1:3.18.4.is.3.14.3-0ubuntu5 Version table: *** 1:3.18.4.is.3.14.3-0ubuntu5 500 500 http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/ubuntu/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1:3.18.4.is.3.14.3-0ubuntu4 500 500 http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/ubuntu/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages 3) What you expected to happen Nautilus starts when I ask it to start 4) What happened instead Nautilus doesn't start when I ask it to start ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: nautilus 1:3.18.4.is.3.14.3-0ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-47.68-generic 4.4.24 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-47-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm nvidia_modeset nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Thu Dec 1 11:01:49 2016 InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-10-14 (778 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20140417) SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to xenial on 2016-08-26 (96 days ago) ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug nautilus xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1646304 Title: Nautilus won't start To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1646304/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
