[Bug 1314556] Re: Unable to mount Android MTP device

2016-12-17 Thread Paul Kellner
Same problem. Intermittent, but for the last few days doesn't work. I
have attached the output of numerous cli commands to help
troubleshooting. When I choose PTP mode instead of MTP mode Shotwell
fires up and can receive photos and videos.

One thought is that USB cables are notorious for wearing out on Android
mobile phones. I have had problems because the high charging currents
and cheap cables don't work well together. When new the connectors fit
up well but as time goes by they get looser and looser. Unfortunately
cheap cables are what are commonly available.

This is a serious bug, please address. It's been noted in conversations
for years. Just get rid of it please, what's the point? The file name is
right there and the line selected is highlighted in orange, who needs a
notification that makes the last file in the folder impossible to click?
Thanks.

I'm curious whether this works on Fedora 25. Fedora also has a patch for
gnome-terminal transparency but I believe their patch is different. Do
you want to try to reproduce the bug there and report back here?

[Bug 1650783] [NEW] Zesty: gnome-software crashes on start if gnome-software-plugin-flatpak is installed

2016-12-17 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

What Happens

* From Ubuntu 17.04 Alpha, install gnome-software-plugin-flatpak

gnome-software will now refuse to start.

* When I run it from the command line, I get this output:

I kill all running instances of gnome-software before starting it:
$ pkill gnome-software
$ gnome-software
06:15:12:0290 GLib-GObject cannot register existing type 'GsFlatpak'
06:15:12:0290 GLib g_once_init_leave: assertion 'result != 0' failed
06:15:12:0290 GLib-GObject g_object_new: assertion 'G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT
(object_type)' failed

I am unable to reproduce this crash on Debian. Installing gnome-
software-plugin-flatpak there works fine.

If we can't fix this, I believe we have no choice but to disable the
Flatpak plugin. Installing something from the Ubuntu archives can't be
allowed to break such a critical app.

Other things I've tried
===
- Rebasing the Ubuntu patches on top of 3.22.4 instead of 3.22.2
- Building the PackageKit plugin instead of Ubuntu's custom apt plugin

[Bug 1650718] Re: I can not install any program

2016-12-17 Thread Paul White
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html.

We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description
of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

I'm assuming that you didn't intend to report against xorg but gnome-
software or the Software Center. Please advise if this is not the case.

Thanks!
