[Bug 1656474] [NEW] FTBFS on arm64: make[4]: *** [../../lisp/cedet/semantic/bovine/c-by.el] Segmentation fault (core dumped)

2017-01-13 Thread dann frazier
Public bug reported:

emacs25 25.1+1-3ubuntu1 reliably fails to build on the LP arm64 buildds.
I wasn't able to reproduce this on bare metal but, while trying to
simulate the buildd environment, I have found that it does *sometimes*
occur when building in a KVM VM on an X-Gene system.

[Bug 1656071] Re: Expect Preview in 16.10 When I Press Space, Instead, Nothing Happens.

2017-01-13 Thread tom
@seb128 I actually had gnome-sushi installed, and still nothing.

Might wanna revise https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/files-
preview.html to not imply Ubuntu 16.10 does previews unless someone
installs gnome-sushi. That article certainly makes it sound like
previewing files is part of 16.10.

"The built-in preview supports most file formats for documents, images,
video, and audio. In the preview, you can scroll through your documents
or seek through your video and audio."

The words "built-in preview" mean that, at least according to this
official Ubuntu documentation, users DON'T have to install any extra
packages to get preview.

For me, in 16.10, gnome-sushi does nothing either. Only thing that works
is gloobus-preview, which as I understand is some sort of derivative of
sushi. Gloobus sucks pretty bad. Doesn't let you press arrow keys from
file to file. You have to press space twice, then arrow to the next
file, then space again, then space again to close preview, then arrow to
the next file. Pretty sucky.

Please add functional preview to default Nautilus, as ubuntu.com/stable
promises, or don't promise it as a "built-in" function.

2017-01-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1656370] [NEW] merging symbolic link with target folder of same name destroys folder

2017-01-13 Thread Michael Black
Public bug reported:

I recently lost a directory full of valuable files. I'm running ubuntu
16.04 and using nautilus 3.14.3

Here's how to replicate this bug. From a terminal window starting in my
home directory:

mkdir useful
cd useful
touch stuff1.txt
touch stuff2.txt

cd ../Desktop
ln -s ../useful/ useful

Now I have a symbolic link on my desktop "useful" that links to
directory "useful" containing two files.

>From nautilus:

- Go to Desktop, select the link useful
- press Ctrl-X to copy
- Go to Home
- press Ctrl-V to paste
- dialog box appears: Merge folder "useful"
- press Merge button (the default)

directory useful has now been replaced with a symbolic link pointing to
itself, and all its contents are gone.

Now in nautilus I press Ctrl-Z to undo. Symbolic link "useful"
reappears on the Desktop, but the target folder is not reconstructed.

Why is this a important bug:

1. Merge dialog gives no indication that the source is a symbolic link.
Instead it asks the user if wants to merge the files in two folders.

2. Continuing with the merge is the default option.

3. After the merge the symbolic link survives and the folder and its
contents are utterly gone. They cannot be found in the trash.

4. Undo does not restore the folder or its files, just relocates the
symbolic link.

[Bug 1283003] Re: [Bluetooth + 14.04] Bluetooth headsets are not working after last couple of updates

2017-01-13 Thread svan001
Same for me, my new bluetooth speaker is paired but I can't stream the audio to
it.
Someone posted a fix for this (worked for me and other people) at askubuntu
here (first answer) :
http://askubuntu.com/questions/689281/pulseaudio-can-not-load-bluetooth-module-15-10-16-04-16-10

seems pulseausio / X11 related

[Bug 1656280] [NEW] Support installing subordinate systemd on Ubuntu Desktop 14.04.5

2017-01-13 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Public bug reported:

Add support for installing subordinate systemd for snappy on Ubuntu
Desktop 14.04.5

When installed, superseeds systemd-shim support functionality by:
* Providing necessary units for power management
* Replicating systemd-shim timedated support functionality in timedated itself
(thus dropping systemd-shim dependency from timedated code)

Bugfixes to cgmanager codepath for compatibility with lxc:
* free NULL bug fix
* fix cg_attach for subordinate systemd

[Impact]

 * Users can install snapd without regressing Desktop support,
lxc/lxc1/lxd abilities.

[Test Case]

 * Power management works (e.g. shutdown/reboot via indicator-system)

 * Timedatectl commands report NTP status enable/disabled correctly, and
can change it

 * Can install and use snapd

 * Can install and use lxc / lxc1 / lxd

[Regression Potential]

 * Installing snapd will pull in cgmanager and bin:systemd on the
desktop, superseding systemd-shim. Thus things that rely on systemd-shim
implementations may regress.

[Bug 1656237] [NEW] Shutdown/reboot hangs forever if an autossh process is started by rc.local

2017-01-13 Thread Ivan Kozik
Public bug reported:

If an autossh process is started by /etc/rc.local, a xenial system is no
longer able to shut down. It seems to hang forever, not just for a few
minutes.

Repro steps:

As root:

# Set up an autossh tunnel (in this example, from localhost to localhost):
apt-get install autossh openssh-server
ssh-keygen
cat ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub >> ~/.ssh/authorized_keys
chmod 0600 ~/.ssh/authorized_keys
ssh root@localhost true
  "yes", accept the fingerprint

# Test that autossh works:
autossh -f -L 127.0.0.2:22:127.0.0.1:22 root@localhost -N
ps auxw | grep autossh
  autossh should be listed

# Add to /etc/rc.local before exit line:
autossh -f -L 127.0.0.2:22:127.0.0.1:22 root@localhost -N &

# Enable rc-local service if necessary:
systemctl enable rc-local.service

Reboot.

After booted into system, `shutdown -r now`. Observe that systemd
always hangs forever during shutdown.
