[Bug 1566513] Re: Complex numbers are exponentiated incorrectly

2017-02-05 Thread Jeremy Bicha
The test cases work correctly with gnome-calculator 3.23.4. The results I get
are:
-1
2i
3+4i

This was fixed by using the mpc library, which is probably too much to
backport that change to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

[Bug 1615408] Re: Theming issues with yakkety gnome-calculator in Unity

2017-02-05 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

There are some UI problems with yakkety's gnome-calculator. I'm
attaching a screenshot taken with yesterday's daily live Ubuntu image.

  1. The title bar says 'gnome-calculator' but it should say Calculator
- 2. The Mode menu has an ugly light-colored border around it instead of being
integrated into either the title bar (like gnome-calculator 3.18.3 in Ubuntu
16.04 LTS) or in to Unity's menu bar. This happens when gnome-calculator is run
from a terminal instead of from the Unit dash.

These issues affect both gnome-calculator 1:3.20.1-0ubuntu1 and
1:3.21.90-0ubuntu1 but do not affect 1:3.18.3-0ubuntu1 on yakkety.

I think this was caused by the refresh of
  debian/patches/git_no_headerbars_in_unity.patch in the 3.20 update.

  Screenshots attached.

[Bug 1576685] Re: Disable touchpad while typing is not active nor can it be enabled

2017-02-05 Thread aminorex
If you search the web on this topic you will find that hundreds of
people have been perplexed by this behaviour for over a decade, patches
have been supplied upstream, and yet the problem persists: There is no
control evident which allows one to select the widely desired behaviour,
i.e. to prevent unwanted pointer inputs while typing. A more aggressive
approach to resolving such a wide spread and severe usability issue
seems warranted, and the question suggests itself: If not here, then
where?

[Bug 1661983] [NEW] Ubuntu Software shows irrelevant snaps first in search results

2017-02-05 Thread kg
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
gnome-software 3.20.1+git20161013.0.d77d6cf-0ubuntu2~xenial1

When searching in Ubuntu Software for typical terms such as "Word
Processor" or "World Clock", various snaps appear at the top of the list
that have no relevance to the search. Then scrolling down to the bottom
one can see actual relevant results.

For example, searching for "World Clock" brings up ubuntu-social-kit as
the first result, followed by minetest-luk3yx and dwarf-fortress.
Scrolling down a few pages brings up ubuntu-clock-app but it is followed
by kgeography.

All the snap results seem to be at the top of the list which I would
consider a bug in itself. Once I scroll far enough down to get past all
the irrelevant / badly categorised snaps, *including "hello-snap-test"*,
there are then more normal search results such as "Clocks" and
"twclock".

This seems to be a pretty major issue because it makes it look as though
there is no useful software available. Clearly "hello-snap-test" should
not be higher up the list than "Clocks" when searching for a clock
program.
