Hello Jeremy, I had trouble building these packages locally before
uploading. I downloaded new tarballs from
https://download.gnome.org/sources/epiphany/ and renamed them as needed,
applied your debdiffs, and got the following errors when trying to
build:

Any advice appreciated.

Also, could you paste in the sha256 sums from the tarballs that you
used? Without signatures on the upstream packages it's difficult to
ensure we're testing the same things.

Thanks

[Bug 1675369] Please test proposed package

2017-03-23 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Dave, or anyone else affected,

Accepted metacity into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/1:3.18.7-0ubuntu0.3 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1675369] Re: Metacity Not Sending ConfigureNotify events

2017-03-23 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
I updated test case, will that be enough or more detailed instructions
are required?

** Description changed:

  # Impact
When using seamless applications such as Rdesktop, the window manager needs
to send ConfigureNotify events. This is specified in ICCCM section 4.1.5.
Without it, software will hang and wait for a response.

This greatly impacts corporate and enterprise users that are trying to
integrate Microsoft Windows applications using Rdesktop.

  # Proposed Fix
A patch has been created here and should be merged:

https://git.gnome.org/browse/metacity/commit/?h=gnome-3-24&id=f09967fc0f1d65fc7b5057b362b9657154a86079

Patch for 3.18 branch which was used for Xenial upload is here:

https://git.gnome.org/browse/metacity/commit/?h=gnome-3-18&id=64e95c2ec2a1669da2ddab6c29108d718f79dfff

  # Test Case
- Use Rdesktop in seamless mode for a while.
+ Use rdesktop in seamless mode:
+ rdesktop "%ProgramFiles%\ThinLinc\WTSTools\seamlessrdpshell.exe" -s "notepad"
server_ip
+
+ This requires server with windows that is setup for remote access. Also extra
software is needed:
+
+ Opening multiple seamless windows and trying to switch between them
+ should not cause any noticeable delays / hangs.

  # Regression Potential
The reporter has verified the fix, and it works. It has also been in Zesty
since Mar 20th and so far nobody complained.

2017-03-23 Thread jcat
I just had a look at what other versoins might be available in the
repos, and found the security repo has a lower version:

$ apt-cache madison epiphany-browser
epiphany-browser | 3.18.10-0ubuntu1 | http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu
xenial-updates/universe amd64 Packages
epiphany-browser | 3.18.5-0ubuntu1.1 | http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu
xenial-security/universe amd64 Packages

I just downgraded from 3.18.10-0ubuntu1 to 3.18.5-0ubuntu1.1 - which has fixed
the issue.
So the problem is introduced somewhere between those two versions.

[Bug 1668704] Re: Cannot type any input into web pages with epiphany browser after upgrade

2017-03-23 Thread jcat
Same here on 16.04.2 , epiphany 3.18.10-0ubuntu1.

It was fine for a while on 16.04, some recent upgrade [ last month or so
] seemed to break it.

[Bug 263594] Re: String replacement changes \n to a new line

2017-03-23 Thread George Suba
@ Andreas Moog (ampelbein)

it is indeed the bug. your solutions provided in your latest reply does
not work at all. \\n does not working with gedit at all.. currently I
can do replace everything expert the very first line. Please note that I
did try everything as suggested here. Simply it is not working and to me
it looks like very well bug in gedit. There is nothing mentioned in docs
of gedit to do so.. been searching about 68 hours now on internet - so
far zero valid answers - I dont want to switch to other text editor..
can you resolve the issue on this editor - please.

[Bug 1612416] Re: Ugly shadow under Wayland

2017-03-23 Thread Fred
I am using Intel graphics driver on a Haswell 4770K GPU.

Note however that GNOME Terminal is the only application which have the drop
shadow issue, in the screenshot you can also see GNOME Calculator which does
not suffer from this.
I also tested with other applications and its only GNOME Terminal that have
this issue.

Also, its not just the drop shadow, but also the menu position placement
that is awkward when clicking on a menu in the menubar.

[Bug 1675397] [NEW] ctrl-f cannot find wrapped text in columns

2017-03-23 Thread falcon
Public bug reported:

Please use this document to reproduce the issue:
https://docs.bmc.com/docs/download/attachments/677783897/CTM_Admin_9.0.00.400_488755.pdf

With Ctrl+F, you can find the term HYPHEN in CTM_VARIABLE_ALLOW_HYPHEN
on page 155, but you cannot find the term ALLOW. Adobe Reader can (see
attachment "find.png"), and I also expect Evince to find the term, even
if the text is wrapped because the column is too small.

In Evince there seems to be a newline character at the position where it
should just wrap the column text. Copy&Paste of the row will result in
the same behaviour:

CTM_VARIABLE_ALLO
W_HYPHEN Enables user-defined variables to contain the - (hyphen) character.
Valid values: N, Y
Default: N
Refresh Type: Manual
NOTE: If a job has an variable that includes a hyphen in the variable name, it
will fail when submitted to an agent that is running on UNIX.

Again, Adobe Reader does not split CTM_VARIABLE_ALLOW_HYPHEN on two
lines:

CTM_VARIABLE_ALLOW_HYPHEN
Enables user-defined variables to contain the - (hyphen) character.
Valid values: N, Y
Default: N
Refresh Type: Manual
NOTE: If a job has an variable that includes a hyphen in the variable name, it
will fail when submitted to an agent that is running on UNIX.

[Bug 1675369] [NEW] Metacity Not Sending ConfigureNotify events

2017-03-23 Thread Dave Richards
Public bug reported:

When using seamless applications such as Rdesktop, the window manager
needs to send ConfigureNotify events. This is specified in ICCCM
section 4.1.5. Without it, software will hang and wait for a response.

A patch has been created here and should be merged:

https://git.gnome.org/browse/metacity/commit/?h=gnome-3-24&id=f09967fc0f1d65fc7b5057b362b9657154a86079

I have hand tested this patch on GNOME 3.18 on 16.04 LTS and it works.
We are requesting this to be merged. This greatly impacts corporate and
enterprise users that are trying to integrate Microsoft Windows
applications using Rdesktop.

Can you duplicate this issue with a new user?

Is this with the 'GNOME on Wayland' session?

What theme are you using?

Is there anything else different about your install that might be
relevant?
