[Bug 1687510] [NEW] way to remove "Default Application" defective or makes no sense
Public bug reported: related to Bug #1687486 In "properties" -> "Open With" dialogue the "Default Application" list entry can't be removed. But this entry is replicated in the "Open With" -> "Other application..." in "Related Applications" where it can be removed. This is synced back to "properties" -> "Open With" where the Default application is filled by shifting up the first "Related Apllication". After opening this dialogue, the default application in the first row of the right-click menu is updated. [Bug 1687506] [NEW] When first started, GIMP's Layer Dock was almost completely off screen to the right
Public bug reported: The following bug was reported at: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=781803 I just installed the latest Lubuntu (17.04) and installed the latest standard GIMP in my repositories (2.8.20-1). The Layers/Channels/Paths/Undo/Brushes/Patterns/Gradients combined dock ( Whew! - is there a shorter name for this initially standard opening combo dock?) was so far to the right on my screen that I had to snag it with Alt-Drag (see screenshot). I am using the proprietary NVidia 304 package (which I have been automatically installing since (so far) Nouveau always manages to crash something I try to use; I have not actually tried it yet with the new Lubuntu, I suppose I ought to try one day...), and my monitor is set to a resolution of 1792x1344 (where DO they get these wierd coordinates?) Since GIMP remembers window placement between sessions, and I moved the window/dock so that it was entirely visible, this is obviously no longer a problem, but it would look bad for a new user of GIMP, and not everyone knows about Alt-Drag to lasso straying windows... - scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS:~$ uname -a Linux scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS 4.10.0-19-generic #21-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 6 17:04:57 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS:~$ lsb_release -dsc Ubuntu 17.04 zesty scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS:~$ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION Lubuntu scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AMPLUS:~$ gimp --version GNU Image Manipulation Program version 2.8.20 --- If there is any other info that would help, let me know... -Scott === " Michael Schumacher [GIMP developer] " was curious if this was a Lubuntu- or Ubuntu-only bug, as he had not encountered it. I was going to report it at https://bugs.launchpad.net/lubuntu/+filebug but the only "Project:"s that one can select are "Lubuntu Artwork", "... Software Center", "... next", "... Tweaks", "LxFind", and "LxScreenshot", in none of whose categories GIMP belongs, so I am "ubuntu-bug"ing it here... If any Ubuntu or Lubuntu users have either experienced this, or want to install it and see if it happens for them, Michael and I (and probably others) would be interested in knowing about it. [Bug 1687497] [NEW] multiple default application settings conflicting
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 16.04.2: After installing xpdf it was not listed in the "Other Applications" list in "properties" -> "Open With" dialogue of a file. So this may imply that there are multiple places managing the filetype <-> application relation. I had "PDF Mod" set as default appliction for pdf. After removing it from "Open With" -> "Other Application..." -> "Related Application" xpdf appeared in "properties" -> "Open With" -> "Default Apllication" but not in "Open With" -> "Other Application..." -> "Related Applications". In the first row of the right-click menu of the pdf-file the listed default application changed randomly between xpdf and something else. Clicking "Set as default" in the "properties" -> "Open With" after selecting one application let the xpdf disapear, unable to reselect it. My other nautilus bug reports may be related to this. [Bug 1687486] [NEW] difference in "Open With" and "properties" -> "Open With" makes no sense
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 16.04.2: The two named dialogues are different in a senseless way. Clicking with the right mouse button on a file and clicking "Open With" opens a dialogue not having "Default Application" topic. [Bug 1687478] [NEW] "properties" -> "open with" - defective statemachine
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 16.04.2: The statemachine of the "Open With" dialogue in is defective. To open this dialogue reightclick a file, click "properties" and select "Open With" tab. The behaviour of the button "Set as default" is correct. After clicking that button, the behaviour of the "Add" button is also correct. But clicking only the button "Add" after opening the dialogue without click "Set as default", it shows the wrong behavior. Clicking "add" does always the same like clicking "Set as Default". Clicking "Set as default" one time repairs that behavior. Why that? There are two problems. Clicking "Add" does have the behaviour like clicking "Set as default" to have one "Default Application" set, if no "Default Application" is set. That is correct. 1st problem: This dialogue starts in state believing no default application is set. But the already set default application is listed as "Default Application". That means, clicking "Add" does the same like "Set as default", when it should not. 2nd related problem: Clicking "Add" to set the "Default Application" the first time, does not set the state that the "Default Application" is set like clicking "Set as default" does. So the 1st problem is repeated. [Bug 1636666] Re: [MIR] pcre2
"Other distros do it" isn't sufficient rationale, by itself, to support putting pcre2 in main. We already ship it, the question is whether it should be in main, meaning whether Canonical will be responsible for support, providing security updates, etc. To mirror what doko mentioned earlier, what is needed to demote pcre3? Can we start (even a long-running) transition? (So there should be a tracker setup for that). There seems to be new security issues too. I don't have a preference on what version of pcre to use, there should just be a reasonable analysis of how far we are to being able to just one pcre, what the steps needed to get there, possibly bugs open or a transition tracker to follow progress, and whether we can more easily port what seems to require pcre2 now back to pcre3 in order to facilitate maintenance. [Bug 1684100] Re: TP-LINK TL-WN722N 150MBPS not working on Ubuntu 17.04. Worked fine on 16.10
I tried to boot into the previouse kernel and downgrading wpa_supplicant first, which did not help. So I suspected some change in NetworkManager to be responsible. After trying some other configuration changes I compared the log output from a machine that was not yet upgraded to that of an upgraded one, and the difference was that the latter changed the mac address between scanning and connecting. So I tried to disable this behaviour, and it worked after that. My other wifi devices too work with mac address randomization turned on, just this one does not. Maybe it has to do with the timing between chaning mac addresses and initiating a connection, I really have no idea what the root cause could exactly be. ** Package changed: gnome-nettool (Ubuntu) => network-manager (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-nettool in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1684100 Title: TP-LINK TL-WN722N 150MBPS not working on Ubuntu 17.04.
