[Bug 1693155] Re: Distorted blurry battery indicator in gnome-shell (using ubuntu-mono icons at default low-DPI scale 1.0)

2017-06-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
"New icons" might not be strictly required.

If someone can edit:
/usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-dark/status/{22,24}/battery*.svg
and change them to actual squares of the correct dimensions (22x22, 24x24) then
I think that would be a proper fix. It does require editing (recentering) the
curves though, and not just changing the canvas dimensions. So you would need a
proper vector graphics editor.

Nope, comment #14 won't really work adequately either. As a proof of concept,
here's something that demonstrates what the outcome would be:

[Bug 1699672] [NEW] systemctl status Failed to read server status: Connection timed out

2017-06-21 Thread sles
Public bug reported:

I run 5 Ubuntu 16.04 as kvm VMs on centos 7.
Yesterday, after installing updates, I can't reboot them, because systemd
connection timeout.
After reboot
systemctl status
worked fine, but today I get on one of these servers:

systemctl status
Failed to read server status: Connection timed out

I guess after some time I'll have this on all of them.

Looks like bug.

Thank you!

[Bug 1699670] [NEW] Gnome screensaver lock always responses "incorrect password" when last active window's language is not the language of the password

2017-06-21 Thread Andrew Frolikov
Public bug reported:

Environment:
OS - Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS, DE - GNOME Shell 3.20.4, gnome-screensaver 3.6.1

Prerequisites:
 - say, you have 2 language layouts installed
 - their layouts/character tables are completely different, so there is no
chance you can type your password correctly using any language keyboard layout
(e.g. you have en/ru, but not en/de etc.)

Actual behavior:
When the screen is being locked while your active window has the language which
is not your password language set, you won't be able to log in back. Log in
form shows that the language of the password is set (EN in my case) but it
always returns 'Incorrect password' message in response to the correct input.
Switching language layout using the keyboard shortcut or GUI doesn't help.
'Switch user' trick allows you to log in back though, but it's a crutch.

[Bug 1699660] [NEW] systemd-resolve breaks resolution of local network hostnames

2017-06-21 Thread Forest
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Ubuntu 17.04 (zesty), resolution of my local
network's host names is completely broken. Apparently the upgrade
replaced my existing resolver with systemd-resolve, which deliberately
refuses to pass "single-label" domain names to my domain name server.
That is the server where all my network's host names are kept, so I can
no longer resolve any of them.

Apparently, this is yet another example of Poettering's upstream decisions
causing denial of service to people who have been saddled with his malware.
https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/2514#issuecomment-179203186

Would someone sensible please put a stop to this forced breakage during
upgrade, and advise on how to fix it now that the damage has been done?

[Bug 1693155] Re: Distorted blurry battery indicator in gnome-shell (using ubuntu-mono icons at default low-DPI scale 1.0)

2017-06-21 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Actually, this might work (and I apologise to design for troubling them
if it does):

1. Ensure we use the SVGs from "22": /usr/share/icons/ubuntu-mono-
dark/status/22/

2. Fix gnome-shell to add square padding, avoiding distortion.

The battery icons in 22/ have a narrower width (26x22 px) so should
render to gnome-shell more clearly than 16/ (32x16px) or 24/ (32x24px)
that would both pad out to 32x32 and then get scaled down too much to be
readable.

2017-06-21 Thread 513G3
I uncovered another problematic side effect but I am unsure of the
significance; perhaps this will trigger an idea for someone

There are three user accounts on my box. Here's a flow:
1) Reboot box
2) Sign in as user 1
3) Examine running processes (as MikeD mentioned in #33) and observe two
keyring processes
4) Log out as user 1
5) Log in as user 2
6) Observe that Unity (via upper-right corner power icon thing) shows two
checkmarks indicating that both user 1 and user 2 are signed in

[Bug 1689825] Re: gnome-keyring not unlocked on boot

2017-06-21 Thread MikeD
I am experiencing the same issue on one of my two machines. The 'Password and
Keys' padlock icon next to 'Login' remains locked even with the correct
password, and I'm unable to use Chrome, access e-mail etc..
I'm no expert but, in case it helps, these are two differences between the two
machines I'm aware of...
- the machine with the problem has an encrypted installation and the other not.
Otherwise both installations are similar (basic 16.04 and not much else)
- if I enter "ps aux | grep keyring" I get two 'gnome-keyring-daemon' processes
listed on the problem machine (one for user 'lightdm' and one for myself), and
only one on the machine without the problem (user is myself)
The machine with the problem is almost useless for the moment - would be great
to get a solution.

[Bug 1698553] Re: Update gjs to 1.48.5

2017-06-21 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Summary changed:

- Update gjs to 1.48.4
+ Update gjs to 1.48.5

** Description changed:

  Impact
  --
- 1.48.4 is a new bugfix release in the stable 1.48 series, associated with the
GNOME 3.24 stable series. 17.04 currently has 1.48.3.
+ 1.48.5 is a new bugfix release in the stable 1.48 series, associated with the
GNOME 3.24 stable series. 17.04 currently has 1.48.3.

  https://git.gnome.org/browse/gjs/log?h=gnome-3-24
  https://git.gnome.org/browse/gjs/tree/NEWS?h=gnome-3-24

This update fixes a crash of GNOME Shell on Wayland. When GNOME Shell is
run on Wayland, a crash will completely destroy the session (unlike on X
where GNOME Shell tries to restart itself) so this is a high priority
  fix.

  Test Case
  -
GNOME Shell is written in gjs so let's test GNOME Shell. After installing the
update, reboot.

Also check some of these apps:
  gnome-characters
  gnome-documents
  gnome-maps
  gnome-sound-recorder
  gnome-sushi
  gnome-weather
  polari

All of them except for gnome-sound-recorder and polari are included in
  Ubuntu GNOME and Ubuntu Budgie.

  Regression Potential

- If gjs has a problem, it could leave Ubuntu GNOME users unable to log in to
their computer at all since gdm uses part of gnome-shell to work.
+ If gjs has a problem, it could leave Ubuntu GNOME users unable to log in to
their computer at all since gdm uses part of gnome-shell to work. All GNOME
3.24 distros will be including this update though.
+
+ There was a regression identified in 1.48.4 but it was quickly fixed (in
+ about 2 days).

  Other Info
  --
gjs 1.48.3 got stuck in phased-updates but the underlying issue was actually
in gnome-maps which has already been fixed in 17.04 now. This gjs update should
clear Phased Updates then.

[Bug 1699557] [NEW] Evolution: send inline images as attachments

2017-06-21 Thread Diego Chaparro
Public bug reported:

Since I upgraded from Ubuntu 16 to Ubuntu 17, evolution has stopped
working when sending HTML messages with inline images, copy/paste an
image inside the body not as attachment. Previous to the update, the
images were sent and received inside the HTML body and displayed
correctly in the email content. Since I upgraded, the images are
received as attachments and they aren't displayed inside the HTML
message content.

The problem seems to be on the HTML sent, because I've tested to receive
the messages in different email clients (Evolution and Outlook) and all
of them receives the email images in the same way, as attachments, not
inside the HTML content.

[Bug 1292398] Re: Second screen position isn't saved from one session to another

2017-06-21 Thread juanca
Same problem, when updating, from 14.04 LTS to 16.04 LTS.
Desktop Environment: GNOME-Flashback: Unity (gnome-flashback-metacity)
The strange thing is that in 14.04, this did not happen to me.
I'm thinking of going back to Trusty.
The momentary solution with the script, does not provide solution for the icons
on the desktop, these, change their position and overlap, and not put back in
their original position.
Needs fix

[Bug 1693089] Re: Cinnamon is not a recognized Desktop Environment before Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

2017-06-21 Thread Robie Basak
Accepting for Trusty. Precise is EOL, so I'm reluctant to break
expectations by touching it. If you think an exception is warranted,
perhaps ask ubuntu-release@?

** Description changed:

  Note

Yes, I know precise is basically unsupported but it might be nice to fix
Travis here anyway.

  Impact
  --
Cinnamon (and the less popular EDE and LXQt) desktops are not recognized by
desktop-file-validate in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS or 14.04 LTS.

This is a problem because the very popular Travis service for continuous
integration (CI) on platforms like Github still uses 12.04 LTS. Travis
does not offer a 16.04 platform and the 14.04 platform is still only in
beta. This caused this pull request to fail its CI check:

  https://travis-ci.org/zdohnal/system-config-printer/builds/222023750
  https://github.com/zdohnal/system-config-printer/pull/41

This SRU adds these Desktop Environments to the recognized list for
  14.04 LTS: Cinnamon, EDE, LXQt.

If accepted, 12.04 LTS will also add TDE.

  Test Case
  -
  1. Save the following lines in a file named calc.desktop

  [Desktop Entry]
  Name=Calculator
  Exec=gnome-calculator
  Icon=accessories-calculator
  Type=Application
  OnlyShowIn=Cinnamon;LXQt;EDE;
  Categories=GNOME;GTK;Utility;Calculator;

  2. Run
  desktop-file-validate calc.desktop

The command should complete with no error message.

A failure would look something like:
calc.desktop: error: value "Cinnamon;LXQt;EDE;" for key "OnlyShowIn" in group
"Desktop Entry" contains an unregistered value "Cinnamon"; values extending the
format should start with "X-"

  Regression Potential
  -
This only adds a few entries to the list of registered desktop environments.

This change is backported from desktop-file-utils 0.23 which is in
  Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
+
+ [racb] Could there be some behaviour change somewhere that was depending
+ somehow on Cinnamon's status being unregistered? For example in a test
+ suite's expected output somewhere?

[Bug 1676131] Re: Gnome Night Light doesn't work

2017-06-21 Thread paraiko
In the meantime I've done a re-install of ubuntu-gnome 17.04.
After that nightlight is working as expected on my primary display.

I can chowever onfirm the report that nightlight does noth work on my
secondary display, but I guess this is a separate bug.

[Bug 830348] Re: desktop contents briefly visible on resume from suspend before lock dialog

2017-06-21 Thread Timber Schroeder
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1280300 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1280300

Yep still get it in 17.04, also to be noted is that while using vmware,
the desktop does not lock until I click on something else, causing the
vm to lose input focus. So I can leave my computer for far longer than
the set lock time and it will not lock until somebody clicks somewhere
on the unity launcher or another window. IDK how this has existed since
2011, this is a glaring security bug.
