Unix (init) runlevels are not the same thing as VTs. They're completely unrelated concepts. But yes it sounds like this bug is about VT 7 and VT 6, not runlevels. P.S. [Bug 1208993] Re: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB
I'm not using nautilus, but I'm still affected. I'm having a system slowdown even when copying files over 10Mbit network, so it may be not just USB related. Generally, when some I/O is at its full capacity (being that slow USB 2.0 or slow 10Mbit network transfer), the whole I/O of the OS comes to a crawl. For example, if I copy a 1GB file over 10Mbit network, until that copying is finished, everything disk-related is slowed down (stating of programs, opening files). I have 3 hard drives in my computer, if I copy something from second to third (OS is installed on first), starting programs is still slowed down, although drive holding the OS and programs isn't participating in file copying. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1208993 Title: Ubuntu slows down and hangs while copying file from/to USB To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1208993/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1709159] [NEW] Mouse cursor stuck on primary monitor on dual monitor system
Public bug reported: I am running a Wayland session with Nouveau drivers on an NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450. I have a dual monitor setup with my primary on the right. My primary display is slightly higher than my secondary on the left as configured in Displays. When I play a video full screen on the left monitor and then bring my mouse cursor back to my primary on the right, the mouse cursor often refuses to go back onto the left monitor (as if I only had one monitor). Once I switch to overview mode, it will let the mouse go back over to the left monitor again. The mouse will continue working across both monitors now. I go back into the video and toggle out of full screen and then back to full screen and bring my mouse back over to the right monitor. It is now stuck on the right monitor again. So.. activation of full screen on the left secondary monitor and then moving the mouse cursor onto the right primary is enough to reproduce the bug. [Bug 1698795] Re: Humanity should provide symbolic versions of custom icons for GNOME Shell
Fedora includes a symbolic Firefox icon in their Firefox distro packaging: http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/rpms/firefox/blob/master/f/firefox-symbolic.svg I think we should do the same and see about pushing that icon upstream. I think it's up to the app developers to provide the symbolic icons not the icon theme. Personally, the icon in the top bar is so small that a symbolic simpler monochrome icon is a bit more clear than a regular color icon. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1698795 Title: Humanity should provide symbolic versions of custom icons for GNOME Shell To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-themes/+bug/1698795/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1698795] Re: Humanity should provide symbolic versions of custom icons for GNOME Shell
For now, let's use in the ubuntu session non symbolic icons: - our theme doesn't support them and there are few changes we'll have app symbolic icons for our default applications in 17.10. - for coherence reasons: most of branded apps outside of GNOME (firefox, chrome, thunderbird) don't have symbolic icons, and so, will appear colorized. Shipping two different experiences in the same session is weird. Let's ensure the ubuntu session don't use them by default thus.

[Bug 1708828] Re: Trackpad tap does not work in GDM
I do still agree that allowing tapping on the login screen would be ideal. Let's bump this to Medium and see if there's a simple fix. ** Changed in: gdm3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Low => Medium ** Summary changed: - Trackpad tap does not work in GDM + Tap-to-click does not work in GDM ** Description changed: When Gnome Shell crashes or after boot, GDM is shown and asks the user to select an account and type the password. However selecting the account by tapping on it with the trackpad does not work. One has to - press hard on the trackpad until it makes a cracking noise. + press hard on the trackpad until it clicks. This is probably because the defaults in the input manager for GDM and new user accounts are set to disable "tap to click". 1. The default is inconsistent for users who have this enabled within their account, but unexpectedly encounter the default before logging in. 2. The default (for session login etc.) should be all-encompassing rather than specialized/restrictive. A user being used to click is not hindered by tapping being enabled. A user being used to tap is however hindered by tapping being disabled. [Bug 1708828] Re: Trackpad tap does not work in GDM
A point to consider is that not all touchpads look the same and behave the same. Hardware manufacturers do use their freedom of physical design decisions to drive the user into a natural interaction that fits their vision. By not having visible buttons and requiring significant force for physical clicking, touch tends to feel more natural (as in the name). While not a "significant restriction", the software view is often much simpler than the variety of real hardware outside. This poses rather an inconsistency, and the system does not notify the user about the change of interaction paradigm. This also appears new and inconsistent in comparison to other widespread desktops (Unity) where such enforcements are not active. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1708828 Title: Trackpad tap does not work in GDM To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1708828/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
