[Bug 1624644] Re: By default settings unattended-upgrade is unable to automatically remove packages that become unused in conjunction with updating by other software.
I found the description somewhat confusing because 'Unattended-Upgrade ::Remove-New-Unused-Dependencies "true"; doesn't actually exist in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades, rather that's the default setting in unattended-upgrades since 0.90. Regardless, I was able to recreate the issue on an Ubuntu 16.04 system via the following procedure. 1) Use apt-get install to install a new kernel (linux-image-generic) 2) Run unattended-upgrades (observe "no pending auto-removals") However, running 'sudo apt autoremove' does want to remove an old kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1624644 Title: By default settings unattended-upgrade is unable to automatically remove packages that become unused in conjunction with updating by other software. [Bug 1718444] [NEW] systemd-sysctl in Xenial is not obeying the order of the sysctls
Public bug reported: systemd-sysctl in Xenial forces itself over procps by shipping a link for procps.service to systemd-sysctl.service. However, it does not obey the order both of the files and also of the sysctls within the files. Instead it uses a simple hashmap. As it turns out that's fixed upstream and systemd master uses an ordered hashmap because of this, which at least preserves order within single files. Traditionally files in sysctl.d have been prefixed with numbers to ensure an order and that's now completely non-deterministic on Xenial. Relevant upstream commit: https://github.com/systemd/systemd/commit/886cf982d3018f7451f0548dadbc05bd2d583bb6 Note that conf_files_list_nulstr in master sorts the configuration files using strcmp, so even order of configuration files should be obeyed. ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1718444 Title: systemd-sysctl in Xenial is not obeying the order of the sysctls To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1718444/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1718371] [NEW] Reboot hangs forever because /bin/systemctl --force reboot fails with "Failed to execute operation: Connection timed out"
Public bug reported: This morning unattended-upgrades had a reboot scheduled for 6:30 AM. The reboot process succeeded in turning off all network access but failed to actually reboot.
