[Bug 1724316] Re: "Sorry, something went wrong cannot authenticate to snap store ..." without any way to fix
So further investigation, the "cannot authenticate to snap store: " part of the error is only added by snapd for an unexpected error: https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/blob/master/store/auth.go#L190-L204 I believe this is being called via the refreshDischarges() method, intended to keep the store macaroon up to date. This is called by any snapd API that talks to the store, so it isn't surprising we'd hit it during gnome-software start up. I wonder if changing your Ubuntu One password would be enough for the store to refuse to refresh the macaroon? So it looks like the fix probably requires the following: 1. snapd to handle the INVALID_CREDENTIALS response from the store and produce an error response that snapd-glib can distinguish. 2. snapd-glib to handle this error case and map it to one of its error codes (either a new one, or fold it into invalid-auth-data?) 3. if snapd-glib produces a new error code, for gnome-software's snap plugin to map this to an appropriate error code. The end result should be for gnome-software to call the /v2/login end point again, probably passing its existing macaroon so it updates the existing snapd user rather than creating another (i.e. what would happen to paid snaps for a discarded snapd user ID when it comes time to refresh?). I'll follow up with the snappy team to verify that this is the way forward. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724316 Title: "Sorry, something went wrong cannot authenticate to snap store ..." without any way to fix To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1724316/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1724583] Re: gdm3 doesn't list wayland-based sessions
Confirmed. For me this bug happens with Radeon cards (using the 'radeon' kernel module). And also confirmed this is not a duplicate of bug 1723577. I was trying to reproduce bug 1723577 when I encountered this one instead. Can you please provide output from this command?; lspci -k If you happen to have an nvidia card instead then this bug would become invalid. Because the nvidia driver is known to only support Xorg sessions by default. [Bug 1724489] Re: Searching for "oh my" returns zero results but "oh" does
Ah, seems to be a bug(?) in GNOME Software - it's only actually throwing away any search word less that 3 characters. So the search "oh my" is rejected because none of the words are long enough. "oh my gir" would just search with "gir". I would have thought having a total number of characters more than three should be sufficient. [Bug 1721719] Re: gvfs-info bashism
You are right, the bug is fixed upstream. I have manually downloaded gvfs-bin_1.34.1-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb and checked the file: it includes the fix. However it is not fixed on my computer. And I do not know why. Unfortunately I have not found the package in /var/cache/apt/archives, then I am not sure if the .deb installed on my computer is the same. I have never tampered with my installation. This is a fresh install of Artful Beta1 updated once a day with "apt dist-upgrade". I dont know what has happened. Regarding the use of "$@:2", there is no error displayed because: 1. "$@:2" is valid syntax in both shells, but it is clearly a bug because it is expanded to "$1" "$2" ... ":2", which does not make sense. I think that in bash it should have been "${@:2}" (2 is an offset), while in dash the syntax is not supported and you should use "shift" instead. You can check it by running: $ echo 'echo "$@:2"; echo "${@:2}"' | bash -s foo bar foo bar:2 bar $ echo 'echo "$@:2"; echo "${@:2}"' | dash -s foo bar foo bar:2 dash: 1: Bad substitution 2. "gio help info" discards all parameters after "info", then for example "gio help info :2" is equivalent to "gio help info". In short: I think you can safely remove "$@:2". -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1721719 Title: gvfs-info bashism To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/+bug/1721719/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

The fix for this will be in snapd-glib, it was never built with the assumption that snapd would restart in the middle of a transaction... [Bug 1722897] Re: Ubuntu Wayland seems to be allocating 2-3 framebuffer sized surfaces (more than Xorg)
Hi Daniel, Regarding #1, I instrumented our DRM driver and compared the debug output between Xorg and Wayland login screen, since the same symptom occurs there. For Xorg (on Ubuntu 16.04), by the time the login screen shows up, I only see one request for a FB. For Wayland (on Ubuntu 17.10), when the login screen tries to come up I see the following sequence: FB 1 (prepare_fb) FB 2 (prepare_fb) FB 1 (cleanup_fb) FB 3 (prepare_fb) FB 2 (cleanup_fb) Now FB 1 and 2 are freed and the login screen presumably is displayed on FB 3. prepare_fb is where the surface gets pinned, and cleanup_fb is where it gets unpinned. So at one point in this sequence, the user mode is attempting to have 2 surfaces pinned. I'm guessing it doesn't want to give up the first FB until it knows the 2nd one is available. I can work around this one on my end, but I'd like to confirm that this behavior is from the user mode. [Bug 1724597] [NEW] Regression: Text selection not places in PRIMARY clipboard
Public bug reported: On artful this morning my text selections in gnome-terminal (and not in other desktop applications) are not places in the PRIMARY clipboard (or whatever you call the middle mouse button). I don't find a user preference to change this. I would like to be able to highlight text with the mouse in the terminal and then paste with middle mouse button. Middle mouse paste does work in the terminal for text selected in other applications. Only the placement of text into the paste buffer is failing in gnome-terminal. $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 17.10 Release:17.10 $ apt-cache policy gnome-terminal gnome-terminal: Installed: 3.24.2-0ubuntu4 Candidate: 3.24.2-0ubuntu4 Version table: *** 3.24.2-0ubuntu4 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ apt-cache policy gnome-terminal-data gnome-terminal-data: Installed: 3.24.2-0ubuntu4 Candidate: 3.24.2-0ubuntu4 Version table: *** 3.24.2-0ubuntu4 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/main amd64 Packages 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724597 Title: Regression: Text selection not places in PRIMARY clipboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1724597/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1724587] [NEW] nautilus stops responding, Desktop too
Public bug reported: This happens randomly every once in a while: - Clicking on Nautilus' Launcher icon does nothing (it blinks for a while as if it was loading, then no window opens). - Desktop icons (icons of files and folders in the Desktop) don't respond to clicks or right-clicks - running nautilus from a terminal will not print any error message, won't open any nautilus window, but it will not exit either, just wait forever The workaround is to "ps aux | grep nautilus" to find nautilus' process id and kill it.
