[Bug 1723857] Re: onscreen keyboard appears whenever i touch touchscreen

2018-01-07 Thread Fadi Racy
@Andrea Azzar, would it be in the realm of the possible to implement an
option in caribou/gnome-shell where the people who still want to use it,
can turn off the auto popup feature (the one where caribou pops up
whenever an editable area is selected). Leave it to us to swipe the
bottom of the screen to bring it up?

If you implement this function, I think 3/4 of the people wanting to
disable OSK will no longer have an issue with it as currently, it pops
up at the slightest provocation and I think that's annoying alot of
people.

2018-01-07 Thread Daniel van Vugt
OK, I am assuming "That worked" means you found the bug ID(s) your
machine is experiencing, and they were not this one :)

Per comment #52, if the original reporter does not reply by early
February then this bug will be closed due to lack of response. That
doesn't mean this bug doesn't exist, just that we need (other) more
detailed bug reports with crash information do be able to do anything
with them. And those we have many of already. It's just a matter of
finding the right crash report(s).

Yes I saw this bug with Firefox in 18.04 yesterday, so it's still an

Maybe it is just Xwayland, but worth noting I have seen similar issues

[Bug 1730478] Re: using shift key to wake up display causes invalid password

2018-01-07 Thread Scott Moser
Well, I do not have 'Sticky keys' enabled now, and I doubt I ever did.
It really felt to me that the lock screen and "everything else" seemed to keep
independent state for shift (or caps lock possibly), and I happened to get them
out of sync.

I'm fine for this bug to expire, but figure I'd at least fill in the
remaining info.

Re: [Bug 1721637] Re: can't open system settings(Ubuntu 17.10), icon is visible but settings don't dislay

2018-01-07 Thread Cleber Cassol
Hi!

To disable the phantom monitor, hit the super key (the one with the Windows
logo on it), the type Display. The app that handles the displays will be
shown, click on it. Once there, you're see two monitors, the real one to
the left and the phantom one to the right. Click on it and disable it
choosing the appropriate control (I don't have Ubuntu installed anymore, so
I'm telling you this by memory). It should be labeled "Activate", "Enabled"
or something similar.

Hope this helps!

2018-01-07 Thread Meysam Majnooni
Dear friends
I have the same problem as you had. I read all the comments but I am new to
ubuntu and sometimes I don't understand what you are talking about (technically
speaking). For example, what does it mean:

- Navigate to org>gnome>shell-extensions>dash-to-dock>dock-position
- Restore dock position to it's default value

Is is a piece of code? Drag and drop? How do I navigate? or ...?
(@Cleber Cassol). or how can I disable the unknown monitor (I have it as
well) ? (@Cleber Cassol)?

I did everything to the best of my knowledge and based on the search
results on the net but whenever I try to start setting a column blinks
in the right side of the screen and nothing happens. Please help me
since I am totally novice and can't go further into technical details.

Thanks

[Bug 1706476] Re: Mysterious shadow around window when check marking an option box inside of window

2018-01-07 Thread Charlie Luna
Daniel, I know it's been some time since we've commented on this and I
just wanted to come back and comment again about the status of all of
this. This graphical issue is still occurring and like you, it happens
when I resize the window with the cursor (click/hold/drag to desired
size).

I recently started Chromium to narrow down if it's a broad issue (such
as a CPU/GPU issue) or just program issue. Chromium doesn't exhibit this
odd behavior so I'm feeling confident that my theory that Firefox uses
code that doesn't quite agree with Wayland or my hardware could be the
root cause. I'm very confident that it'll be mitigated eventually.

[Bug 1737083] Re: Epiphany does not start

2018-01-07 Thread Mélodie
PS: something is strange here, I just removed the
_usr_bin_epiphany.1000.crash from the /var/crash directory, and now the
"Web" launcher from the lxpanel menu works.

Could it be possible that this older version of lxpanel comes with some
old version of libmenu cache and does not refresh fast enough to work
right away after installing the package?

When I start it from console, I only get these warnings:

***

I would like to know how to get epiphany to work right away after
starting it the first time, if possible to get it to work right away?

[Bug 1737083] Re: Epiphany does not start

2018-01-07 Thread Mélodie
Hi,

I am using Ubuntu 16.04 perfectly up to date, with an Openbox
environment which makes use of openbox-menu.

I also have lxpanel, with a classic menu. My version of lxpanel is
0.8.2-1ubuntu2 (There is a version of it being 9.3 upstream). My version
openbox-menu is 0.8.0-1.

Openbox-menu makes use of the menu-cache lib from the lxde project…

Strangely, when invoked using the Applications menu in the Openbox menu,
Web (epiphany-browser) starts fine!

When I add a quick start button in the quick start applications bar in
lxpanel, a simple click does not start it, a double click starts 2
instances of it.

I does not start at all when using the Lxpanel menu "Internet > Web".

I have tried to remove all ~/.cache/menu/* files, and restart the
session. I think "Web" could be started once from the menus, then no
more. I have tried to start "epiphany" from the console, it worked every
time.

I will also add my "_usr_bin_epiphany.1000.crash" file as a zip
attachment.

[Bug 1741715] [NEW] gnome-sushi crashing frequently each time it was used

2018-01-07 Thread alperyilmaz
Public bug reported:

1) Release
Ubuntu 17.10

2)Package version
gnome-shell 3.26.2-0ubuntu0.1

3) What is expected
gnome-sushi is activated by spacebar when an item is selected in nautilus
window, the contents of image, text, video or music are previewed, after one
more spacebar press, the preview window should close

4) What happens instead
gnome-sushi is activated as usual, it shows the preview as expected. But after
I close the preview windows, soon after I get the Ubuntu internal error message
dialog box.

Here are the links to crash reports I have uploaded about gnome-sushi

[Bug 1741245] Re: gnome-shell freezes and crashes upon usb drive insertion

2018-01-07 Thread alperyilmaz
Hi, thanks for pointing out what to do..

There was gnome-shell related crash file under /var/crash/, and since
usually I file error report after each crash there were .upload and
.uploaded files as well.

Here are the file names:
var/crash/_usr_bin_gnome-shell.1000.crash
/var/crash/_usr_bin_gnome-shell.1000.upload
/var/crash/_usr_bin_gnome-shell.1000.uploaded

Then I ran the ubuntu-bug on the crash file, I got internal error
message window, I selected "send error report" and clicked "Continue"
(I'm not sure if the errors.ubuntu.com showing recent reports from my
machine, because I didnt see the report I sent today (Jan 7, 2018)

Then, I did the second thing you mentioned, here's the link to error
reports from my machine at errors.ubuntu.com

https://errors.ubuntu.com/oops/1262ee46-bb11-11e7-8683-fa163ef911dc

But, I sent many crash reports about gnome-shell, I only saw one from
Oct 27th, 2017. I also didn't see the report I just uploaded with
"ubuntu-bug" today. Should I upload the recent crash report here, is it
secure to do so? By the way, the crash file is 200 MB in size..

Thanks.

[Bug 1726922] Re: gnome-calendar keeps asking for my google password

2018-01-07 Thread mat
On this page

https://askubuntu.com/questions/967137/calendar-constantly-requiring-
google-authentication-on-17-10

a solution is suggested:

"I was having the same problem and resolve it by deleting the
configuration files of Evolution. Do this:

rm -rf ./.config/goa-1.0/accounts.conf
rm -rf ./.config/evolution
rm -rf ./.local/share/evolution"

Worked for me
