[Bug 1746659] [NEW] package gnome-menus 3.13.3-6ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: triggers looping, abandoned
Public bug reported: Release:17.10 gnome-menus: Installed: 3.13.3-6ubuntu5 Candidate: 3.13.3-6ubuntu5 Version table: *** 3.13.3-6ubuntu5 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu artful/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I added Ubuntu Gnome shell. After that, the screen was black (but everything else seemed to be ok). I selected the "gdm" (not the "light" one). Then I tried to upgrade to 17.10 then the gnome-menus failed the upgrade. Prior to the failure, there were a dozen or so of "assertions ... =! NULL" errors one after another. The Gnome shell would accept my password but then back to login. I changed the shell to "Unity" and everything looked liked before the 17.10 upgrade (except the repeated errors above). I will try to recover using my backup disk.
