[Bug 1774597] Re: G-C-C privacy option don't allow sending manual report

2018-06-25 Thread Didier Roche
If there is a need for a 3rd party package for it, it means that
whoopsie-preferences is broken for quite some years: the automatic
option was present in g-c-c for years in ubuntu, and just use whoopsie-
preferences API to turn this automatic send mode. Note that the API
doesn't report any error in the default install configuration.

As you are familiar with the internal of whoopsie and apport, do you
mind having a look? As this only introduces a "never" report mode, and
the "auto" one was here since whoopsie integration?

Any special information about the deployment, or does this happen with a

see all processes, not only the ones for the current user.

[Bug 1777980] Re: crash of gedit while selecting all the text

2018-06-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your bug report is missing crash details. In
order to debug a crash we will need a crash report. To create one,
please follow these steps:

1. If you are not running a future development release of Ubuntu then apply the
workaround from bug 994921.
2. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport.
3. If the crash is in Xorg then uncomment this option from
/etc/gdm3/custom.conf:
   # Additionally lets the X server dump core if it crashes
   #Enable=true
4. Reboot.
5. Reproduce the crash.
6. Look in /var/crash for crash files and when found, run:
   ubuntu-bug /var/crash/YOURFILE.crash
7. Add a comment here telling us the ID of the new bug that was created in step
6.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments, and doing so is also a
security risk for yourself.

  gnome-shell crashes

  [ Test case ]

  1. No clear test case for this issue.

Some extensions (clipboard indicator) seems to trigger it, but there's
no an an easy and reproducible test-case for this so far.

So install "clipboard indicator" indicator and expect this to run

  [ Regression Potential ]

  Nothing really should be regressing.

[Bug 263369] Re: Save file reverts to last location used. If not available, error is displayed.

2018-06-25 Thread gf
Hello Komputes.
Thanks for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird and
GIMP.

You made this bug report in 2008 and there have been several versions of
both Thunderbird and GIMP since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close
the ticket? Or, if it is still a problem, could you come to Launchpad
and make a comment to that effect?

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu, Thunderbird and GIMP better.

G

[Bug 1778607] [NEW] Incorrect licenses listed in the GNOME Software for Snap Apps.

2018-06-25 Thread Terrance
Public bug reported:

I am using Chromium as an example right now. The license for
applications like Chromium are listed incorrectly in the GNOME Software
store. On the snapcraft.io site Chromium is listed as "Other Open
Source", but in the GNOME Software store it is listed as "Proprietary".

On a side note, is there a way to filter the Snap Apps with the plug-in
as well in the GNOME Software center?

[Bug 1778596] [NEW] no way to specify DNS search domain for static address

2018-06-25 Thread Jerry Quinn
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 18.04 x86_64
I don't know if this is an issue in earlier versions or not.

In the old days when you hand edited /etc/resolv.conf, it was trivial to set a
domain search list.
It seems that the gnome-control-center dialog provides no way to set a search
list through the GUI.

It's possible to do so with hand editing or using nm-connection-editor
and restarting the network connection, but the obvious GUI way doesn't
work.

As someone familiar with whoopsie and apport, and not an SRU team
member, I'm more curious about what is going on under the hood with the
automatic option. I'd be surprised if the crash reports were actually
automatically reported as, if I remember correctly, that'd require
installing apport-noui.

+ [Original Bug]
+
  Steps to reproduce and description:

First test case - where things work correctly:

  1. Open Settings-> Privacy and make sure that Automatic screen lock is ON.
  2. Suspend your machine
  3. Resume your machine
  4. Notice that the lockscreen is shown on resume and that you can't see the
desktop

Second test case - where things are broken

  1. Open Settings -> Privacy and make sure that Automatic screen lock is OFF.
  2. Suspend your machine
  3. Resume your machine
  4. Notice that the desktop is visible for a second, then the screen blanks,
then the lock screen appears, then the screen blanks again. You are left at a
black screen and need to unlock.

[Bug 1774597] Re: G-C-C privacy option don't allow sending manual report

2018-06-25 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello Didier, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-control-center into bionic-proposed. The package will
build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/gnome-control-center/1:3.28.1-0ubuntu1.18.04.2 in a few hours, and then
in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1778093] Re: With multiple monitors, live sessions and the installer should use clone mode, not spanning.

2018-06-25 Thread Daniel van Vugt

impossible to distinguish between a plugged in monitor that is on and
one that is off. In software we can't tell the difference. It's detected
all the same :(
