[Bug 1787365] [NEW] Nautilus hangs when using the location bar
You have been subscribed to a public bug: After updating to 18.04 from 16.04, every time I try to type a character that's not a letter or a number in the nautilus location bar, like "/" or "~", it hangs. Something related to this happens with the calculator. The attachment is after opening it over the window where I'm typing this. Firefox also just crashed while typing this, so maybe it's also related. https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/7dd510f7-fbaa-4554-8ccc-0b2530180816 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+19ubuntu7.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-30.32-generic 4.15.18 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-30-generic x86_64 .tmp.unity_support_test.0: ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.2 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CurrentDesktop: Unity:Unity7:ubuntu Date: Thu Aug 16 11:27:37 2018 DistUpgraded: 2018-08-06 11:31:08,622 DEBUG Running PostInstallScript: './xorg_fix_proprietary.py' DistroCodename: bionic DistroVariant: ubuntu ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0102] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [103c:1497] InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-05-30 (808 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Release amd64 (20160217.1) MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Compaq 6200 Pro SFF PC ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.15.0-30-generic root=UUID=06ad5aeb-7d23-4cb7-8bda-fc035ae54b4b ro quiet splash vt.handoff=1 SourcePackage: xorg UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to bionic on 2018-08-06 (9 days ago) dmi.bios.date: 09/20/2013 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: J01 v02.24 dmi.board.asset.tag: MXL2401SD8 dmi.board.name: 1497 dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.chassis.asset.tag: MXL2401SD8 dmi.chassis.type: 6 dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvrJ01v02.24:bd09/20/2013:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHPCompaq6200ProSFFPC:pvr:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn1497:rvr:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct6:cvr: dmi.product.family: 103C_53307F G=D dmi.product.name: HP Compaq 6200 Pro SFF PC dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.13.1+18.04.20180302-0ubuntu1 version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.91-2 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 18.0.5-0ubuntu0~18.04.1 version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 18.0.5-0ubuntu0~18.04.1 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.19.6-1ubuntu4 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.10.5-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:18.0.1-1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20171229-1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.15-2 xserver.bootTime: Thu Aug 16 10:39:21 2018 xserver.configfile: default xserver.errors: xserver.logfile: /var/log/Xorg.0.log xserver.version: 2:1.19.6-1ubuntu4 xserver.video_driver: modeset ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug bionic compiz-0.9 third-party-packages ubuntu -- Nautilus hangs when using the location bar https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1787365 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1789922] Re: Resize is broken
Nevermind, it still doesn't work on the right disk. While the disk is not mounted initially, by the time unuse_data_iterate() is called, it has been mounted for some reason. I'm thinking there is a race condition where something mounts the fs temporarily and unmounts it, and during the time it is mounted is when unuse_data_iterate() is called, which sees it is mounted, and tries to unmount it, but by the time the unmount request goes through, it has already been unmounted. ** Changed in: gnome-disk-utility (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1789922 Title: Resize is broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-disk-utility/+bug/1789922/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

bodhi, having the Technical Board review Phillip's posts might be completely reasonable so as to finally end this conversation once and for all. That has no bearing on the moderation, though. The entire Ubuntu Community is bound by the terms of the Code of Conduct, which, in short, means being nice to one another, regardless of our points of view. So, I'm sorry, you don't just get to treat people however you want just because you disagree with them. There is no moderation as it concerns your attempts to correct a confusing technical situation. [Bug 1789922] Re: Resize is broken
So I ran it under gdb and set a breakpoint to find how unmount_cb() is being called and traced the problem back up to unuse_data_iterate(). It calls gdu_utils_is_in_use_full(), which incorrectly identifies the mount point of the filesystem as "/". So it looks like either it is finding the wrong mount point for the filesystem and trying to unmount the root ( which you obviously can't do ), or unuse_data_iterate() is actually being called on the root filesystem instead of the one you are trying to resize. Unfortunately I can't tell which since almost all of the data this code is working with gdb tells me has an incomplete type. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-disk-utility in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1789922 Title: Resize is broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-disk-utility/+bug/1789922/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1757068] Re: Night light brakes when screen dims
I believe I have the same issue. I originally reported it as the current duplicate Bug #1791659. The issue is as described here: the night light mode turns off as the screen starts dimming right before it blanks. The mode then needs to be turned off and on to work again. If I have an external monitor connected, as "join monitors", the external monitor is the one that loses the night light, whereas the built-in display still has it. The workaround around this is unplugging and plugging the screen back in. I use the following: gnome-control-center version: 1:3.28.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.2 gnome-shell version: 3.28.3-0ubuntu0.18.04.2 System details: OS: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS x86_64 Host: N230WU Kernel: 4.15.0-33-lowlatency Uptime: 3 days, 1 hour, 12 mins Packages: 2921 Shell: bash 4.4.19 Resolution: 1920x1080, 1920x1080 DE: Budgie WM: Mutter(Budgie) Theme: Adwaita [GTK2/3] Icons: Adwaita [GTK2/3] Terminal: tilix CPU: Intel i7-8550U (8) @ 4.000GHz GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 620 Memory: 4168MiB / 15918MiB -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1757068 Title: Night light brakes when screen dims To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/1757068/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1757068 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1757068 Hm actually, I think it might be a duplicate of this one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control- center/+bug/1757068 I just tested it further, and the same happens without an external monitor. Also, I noticed that the night light stops working as the screen dims right before it blanks. Marking this as a dupe. [Bug 1791659] [NEW] night light is off on external monitor after screen goes to sleep
Public bug reported: Using the night light on both the built-in screen and an external monitor (connected via VGA) in "Join Displays" mode, everything works fine until the screen goes to sleep (aka "blank screen" in "Settings > Power > Power Saving): the night light is still active on the built-in screen but not on the external monitor anymore. [Bug 1778011] Re: SRU: PRIME Power Saving mode draws too much power
@Steve, Brian: I have re-uploaded ubuntu-drivers-common 1:0.5.2.1, now with code to prevent shipping the __pycache__ cruft. While running debdiff against 1:0.5.2 will still mention the cruft, if you run "lintian -v ubuntu-drivers-common_0.5.2.1.dsc --pedantic", lintian won't complain about "source-contains-prebuilt-python-object" any more. [Bug 1791553] Re: Update preferences is not shown when flatpak plugin is installed
I'm attaching a screenshot from https://twitter.com/BabyWogue/status/1038803503794274304 of the dialog. I agree with the idea of showing that dialog but the dialog doesn't make any mention that it only affects Flatpak. I think people would reasonably expect those settings to affect other apps, in particular Snaps. Ubuntu ships some snaps by default since 18.04 LTS. Also please mention this bug report in your commit message. I'll let Robert review. Not even epiphany, gedit, or other first-class Gnome applications. It is the same in Ubuntu 18.04 according to Bug #1760399 (this report is also reference as evidence further down). Does this need a separate bug report? Is it a bug in Gnome libraries, Gtk libraries, or in each individual application where it does not work who is using these libraries? Hence it is necessary to have a way for manual activation. This is possible in Wayland by swiping up on a touch screen, but there is no UI hint for this and I banged my head bloody until I stumbled on the solution. Hence it is necessary to have a way for manual activation. This is possible in Wayland by swiping up on a touch screen, but there is no UI hint for this and I banged my head bloody until I stumbled on the solution. In the default X session the swipe does not work and hence it cannot be manually activated at all. The Ubuntu documentation for 18.04.1 describes it incorrectly and contributes to the confusion.
