[Bug 1792085] [NEW] MTP no more working on Bionic
Public bug reported: Hi, unfortunately (for me) MTP android devices no more work on Ubuntu 18.04. I have used MTP on 16.04 without problems, but on 18.04 it does not work. When I connect my Android devices (Samsung A5 and Samsung J3) and I try to list directories with many files (e.g. /DCIM/Camera) the window hangs until I disconnect the device. Same issue if I try to post the command "ls /var/run/1000/gvfs/". I have installed Ubuntu 18.04 on two different machines - an older HP laptop and a recent DELL laptop - and the issue is present on the all of them. I suspect a defect on the "libmtp". I tried many alternative solutions suggested by the net (e.g. jmtpfs and so on) but anyone worked. That's all! [Bug 1508146] Re: Alt+left/right arrows switch between tty consoles (Gnome Shell vanishes), cannot disable
In my case, I traced the issue to the keyboard-configuration package postinst script, which ends up calling 'setupcon --force --save' which in turn calls 'kbd_mode -u' To reproduce: sudo apt install --reinstall keyboard-configuration setupcon documentation states: "--forceDo not check whether we are on the console. Notice that you can be forced to hard-reboot your computer if you run setupcon with this option and the screen is controlled by a X server." It looks like the checks to avoid this behavior while a graphic environment is active don't work in the context of the installer. ** Also affects: console-setup (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1508146 Title: Alt+left/right arrows switch between tty consoles (Gnome Shell vanishes), cannot disable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/console-setup/+bug/1508146/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1787193] Re: copying via Nautilus over the lan is very slow
Here some additional findings: I normally use 6 volumes which are mounted by logging in using a script. When only one volume is mounted, copying via Nautilus over the LAN occurs at “normal” pace. Further on this bug: The wifi I am using is a 5GH AC network. [Bug 1791899] Re: gnome crashes, all running applications are closed (even vpn, etc)
Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately Javascript errors are not the same thing as a gnome-shell crash. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1791899 Title: gnome crashes, all running applications are closed (even vpn, etc) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1791899/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
