[Bug 1796915] Re: Volume notification popup resizes the full screen application
Daniel my problem starts by a different way (had no problems with Alt+Tab, maybe because I play different games), but I have the same problem with the screen, and yeah it just looks like that https://imgur.com/a/3stwv In my case the screen restores back to normal when volume popup hides back. It is just annoying when I change volume. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1796915 Title: Volume notification popup resizes the full screen application To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1796915/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1796915] Re: Volume notification popup resizes the full screen application
** Description changed: When I playing a game (Steam, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive), and touch multimedia volume controls on keyboard (mute, volume up, volume down), notification popups appears, but when popups is being showed, the game's full screen makes a bit smaller at the same time showing Ubuntu's panel and dock (showing their spaces, but not drawing them, just void spaces), when notification volume popup hides back, full screen restores. The problem shown only when volume notification popup is showing. Steam game called Broforce (full screen)(this game has Unity3d engine), when I change volume, frequently it hangs the game (just before showing notification popup), and whole computer (music still plays), having to - restart the PC, because I doesn't respond to Alt+f4, and sometimes + restart the PC, because it doesn't respond to Alt+f4, and sometimes doesn't respond to Alt+Tab. I had hangs problems with that game in KDE5/Plasma, but I never had problems in Xfce4. Thanks for that, Gert. AFAIK mosts GPUs from the last decade support textures up to size 16384. And ideally all should at least support textures larger than the typical screen resolution they support. If your GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE is 2048 then that's fairly old and uncommon. But certainly we should fix it. My question is: what is the large actor 2560 pixels in size that the machine is trying to offscreen? It's also a performance bug (for all GPUs) if we're trying to offscreen any actor that large. Even if it doesn't crash, gnome-shell still shouldn't be doing that. Since I am working in the area (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/merge_requests/117) the code is still fresh in my mind and I will try to implement your suggested fix. [Bug 1730241] Re: Evolution segfaults when NVidia driver is installed but not used
I just restarted Evolution (but did not reboot my system or make any other changes) and now Evolution is crashing for me in the identical way described here. I literally just quit Evolution, it was running fine, and restarted it and now it just crashes with the same stacktrace shown above, a null pointer passed to g_ascii_strtoull() (will add it as an attachment) after this error: (evolution:14770): GLib-CRITICAL **: 19:35:04.237: g_strsplit: assertion 'string != NULL' failed I'm now a little afraid to restart my system in case more things start to fail. For example in my backtrace I can clearly see that the strings being taken from the context are all null, and that _cogl_gpu_info_parse_version_string() simply passes this to g_ascii_strtoull() without checking. Problem can be solved at update_fbo() within clutter/clutter/clutter- offscreen-effect.c In this case at update_fbo a texture should be alocated with width 2560 which is greater than maximal size 2048 of graphics cards. Offscreen-effect does not support sliced textures, so this is impossible and fails. Crash occurs because no texture is allocated but a framebuffer is present at priv->offscreen. Code to free the framebuffer at priv->offscreen should be moved upwards at update_fbo, because it also should be executed in case texture allocation fails. This leads to the fillowing proposed code: if (priv->texture != NULL) { cogl_handle_unref (priv->texture); priv->texture = NULL; } if (priv->offscreen != NULL) { cogl_handle_unref (priv->offscreen); priv->offscreen = NULL; } priv->texture = clutter_offscreen_effect_create_texture (self, fbo_width, fbo_height); if (priv->texture == NULL) return FALSE; cogl_pipeline_set_layer_texture (priv->target, 0, priv->texture); priv->fbo_width = fbo_width; priv->fbo_height = fbo_height; priv->offscreen = cogl_offscreen_new_to_texture (priv->texture); Remember bug 1790525 also should be solved (which often causes an earlier crash), to make the solution complete. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1795774 Title: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in cogl_texture_get_height() from clutter_offscreen_effect_real_paint_target() from clutter_offscreen_effect_paint_texture() from clutter_offscreen_effect_paint() from clutter_actor_continue_paint() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1795774/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1795637] Re: No login screen when booting Cosmic
I think the dupe indicated in comment #12 is probably correct. I didn't manage to make this happen when not using plymouth (removing "splash" from the kernel commandline). I also installed bionic-release's version of plymouth, to eliminate whether or not the patches applied there are bad. The bug still happens with that version, too. I'll attach some logs. When the bug happens, we get EPERM when calling drmModeObjectSetProperty() and other things: Oct 09 17:40:46 marshmallow gnome-shell[764]: Failed to apply DRM plane transform 0: Permission denied and of course GDM can't start up. It's some kind of race, since apparently (I didn't actually confirm this myself, but others have said so) switching VTs or restarting GDM manually makes it work. The first one isn't that surprising, since GDM is dynamically starting & stopping its greeter when the active VT changes. Also adding a sleep apparently works around the problem - maybe also not surprising if we're waiting for something to relinquish the DRM device. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1795637 Title: No login screen when booting Cosmic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1795637/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1600622] Re: Screen doesn't lock or go to sleep when certain Chrome tabs are open
I just discovered this the hard way. [Bug 1796888] [NEW] Lock screen does not unlock with valid password if non-english keyboard layout was selected before screen was locked
Public bug reported: The bug could be reproduced the following way: 1) Select EN keyboard layout - Lock the screen - Enter the valid password - Success 2) Select other keyboard layout (RU in my case) - Lock the screen - Enter the valid password (lock screen shows that EN layout is used) - Password is not accepted Keyboard shortcuts for input source switch does not work properly when the screen is locked. Also, I tried to switch input source with the button displayed in the lock screen - it shows as if the input source was changed, but it does not produce any effect, the password is still rejected. Also, have checked that the Caps lock is switched in the proper position. [Bug 1796265] Re: Ubuntu Dock is missing after unlocking screen
Lots of people are affected by extension bugs. [Bug 1796265] Re: Ubuntu Dock is missing after unlocking screen
Actually, only about half of them were actually switched on -- the rest I had tried at some point, but since there is no "remove" option in Gnome Tweak they were still in the list. For now I had to roll back to 18.04 because of another problem, but I'll come back to 18.10 in a while and check on this issue again. Apparently no one else seems to be affected, so it may really be just an unfortunate combination of extensions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1796265 Title: Ubuntu Dock is missing after unlocking screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1796265/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1780076] Re: 18.04 login screen is skewed/distorted (incorrect stride) when using hibmc_drm graphics
Just verified it, found we still missing the gdm-disable-wayland. commit 2dc57da31781dedfe374ce353b0f5fd6aa9da56f Author: Ray Strode Date: Mon May 21 11:03:29 2018 -0400 utils: add new gdm-disable-wayland binary We currently disable wayland for cirrus by calling printf from a udev rule. This works, but it's a little too open coded to easily write SELinux policy for. This commit introduces a new program, gdm-disable-wayland, that does the same thing, but in a dedicated binary. A future commit will change the udev rule to use the binary. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=796315 ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #796315 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=796315 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1780076 Title: 18.04 login screen is skewed/distorted (incorrect stride) when using hibmc_drm graphics To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1780076/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
