[Bug 1803853] [NEW] gedit git plugin crashes on local git repository

2018-11-17 Thread Dmitriy Geels
Public bug reported:

I get the following output in console:

dmig@dmig-Inspiron-5379:~$ gedit workspace/howdy-test.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gedit/plugins/git/appactivatable.py", line
89, in get_repository
repo = self.__git_repos[repo_uri]
KeyError: 'file:///home/dmig/workspace/form-observer/.git'

During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gedit/plugins/git/windowactivatable.py", line
298, in inserted
repo = self.get_repository(location, msg.is_directory)
  File "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gedit/plugins/git/windowactivatable.py", line
282, in get_repository
return self.app_activatable.get_repository(location, is_dir)
  File "/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gedit/plugins/git/appactivatable.py", line
95, in get_repository
head = repo.get_head()
gi.repository.GLib.Error: ggit-error: reference 'refs/heads/master' not found
(-9)

The reason is simple ~/workspace/form-observer/ is a local-only
repository, it has no remotes. But it is weird for me, why this plugin
scan subdirectories?

[Bug 1803848] [NEW] Playing video on chrome sometimes freezes until i'm not moving my mouse

2018-11-17 Thread Paco Raxim
Public bug reported:

Latest update made some strange problems:

1) system-udev made a high CPU usage on nvidia, i have made a restart on
the udev:

sudo systemctl start systemd-udevd systemd-udevd-kernel.socket
systemd-udevd-control.socket
sudo systemctl stop systemd-udevd systemd-udevd-kernel.socket
systemd-udevd-control.socket

made a bleachIT also, that problem seems to be solved.

2) when ubuntu stops on 120Hz there are some strange lines appears at the
bottom of the screen
It does not safely stop, just kills the nvidia driver probably, or does some
nasty manipulation

3) On latest update - playing video on chrome freezes for a sec, until i'm not
moving my mouse
It did not appear before, although the high CPU usage was present on previous
releases

4) scrolling is the weakest point of the gnome shell related to CPU
usage

[Bug 1802574] Re: laptop screen never comes on after undock / sleep / open of laptop

2018-11-17 Thread Jonathan Kamens
OK, so, I've learned more about this.

If I wait for like 10-15 seconds after waking the laptop and type ctrl-
alt-f1, then after a long delay after that the screen will switch to the
GNOME login screen, and then if I select my account and type my
password, I am brought back to my previous session. But, there's
something weird about the state of things at that point. E.g., if I then
put the laptop to sleep and wake it back up again, the lock screen for
my session appears, but it won't accept any keyboard or mouse input. To
get back into my session I have to do the ctrl-alt-f1 trick again.

If I open the laptop while docked, wait for the built-in screen to
activate such that all three monitors are active, then undock and
suspend the laptop before gdm3 finishes reconfiguring so that only the
laptop screen is active, then I'm in the same boat as the original bug
report when I wake up the laptop, i.e., the screen remains black no
matter how long I wait, but if I wait a while after waking and then type
ctrl-alt-f1 I can proceed as in the previous paragraph.

If I open the laptop while docked, wait for the built-in screen to
activate such that all three monitors are active, undock, wait for gdm3
to finish reconfiguring so that only the laptop screen is active, _then_
suspend the laptop, then when I wake the laptop back up the screen does
come on.

In short, it appears that the problem is related to suspending the
computer when it is in the middle of reconfiguring what its active
screens are. It doesn't finish or restart that configuration when it
wakes up, so it remains in a weird, messed-up state.

At least, that's my best guess, given the data I've collected.

[Bug 1803815] [NEW] Evince stuck with "Loading..." and empty page for ECFR269_EU_COALITION_EXPLORER_2018_V1.10.pdf file specifically

2018-11-17 Thread Václav Haisman
Public bug reported:

I was viewing
https://www.ecfr.eu/page/ECFR269_EU_COALITION_EXPLORER_2018_V1.10.pdf in
Firefox which works fine and fast, and then I decided to download it and
view it alter with Evince. However, in Evince, the viewing pane never
shows anything but "Loading..." in upper right corner. I can view any
other PDF with Evince just fine. Only this specific PDF from ECFR.EU
page shows this behaviour. The Evince GUI is not stuck. I can see
bookmarks and I can click on them but the viewing pane is never filled
with any content.

[Bug 1803581] Re: PrepareForShutdown() signal from logind is not handled

2018-11-17 Thread Balint Reczey
I reported the GDM issue upstream, but LP does not handle Gitlab URLs
yet: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gdm/issues/443

** Description changed:

When a user logged in to the GUI session and she/he request shutdown of
the system a PrepareForShutdown() signal is emitted by logind:

  https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/inhibit/

Processes holding delay inhibitor locks can start their pre-shutdown
operations and until they finish there is no feedback in a Unity session
for the logged in user that shutdown is successfully requested on
Xenial. On Bionic, the default Gnome 3 session does handle the signal
and logs the user off to GDM, but GDM does not tell that shutdown is
pending and the user may think that she/he can log in again or should to
something to really start the shutdown.

With Ubuntu's default configuration the confusion only lasted up to 5
seconds (default max delay for inhibitor locks), but the next upload of
