[Bug 1807056] Re: Occasional Keyboard freeze

2018-12-21 Thread Dilip
@Daniel , It happened in Cinnamon as well. I had some important work so
I was using Windows 10 ( dual boot ) all these days. The issue is
limited to 18.04. I wanted to update this thread and started using
Cinnamon today. The keyboard just froze for about 1 minute and then
everything got ok by itself.

[Bug 1809407] Re: [nvidia] After resume the unlock screen is a black background with pixel garbage. Bitmap garbage flashes on the screen when interacting with anything.

2018-12-21 Thread Kevin McMurtrie
I did some random trial and error debugging.

There's always a login screen on console 1 and there's always a desktop
GUI on console 2. It's sometimes waking from sleep into display 2 while
still locked. There's a dock, a system menu, and random bitmap garbage.
Hitting CTRL-ALT-F1 goes to the login screen. After logging in, it
jumps to a normally working display 2.

Not sure if it's related: CTRL-ALT-fkey is sometimes generating app
keyboard events rather than switching consoles.

Installing 18.04 completely corrupted my system and I had wipe the disk.
This isn't an old crusty installation.

[Bug 1771031] Re: Please remove libgnome from Ubuntu

2018-12-21 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** No longer affects: gbonds (Ubuntu)

** No longer affects: gnome-commander (Ubuntu)

** Description changed:

libgnome has been removed from Debian Testing and will not be included
in the Debian 10 "Buster" release. We should do the same. If we do it
now, maybe some projects will do the needed porting work away from
libgnome (porting to gtk3 is probably needed) in time for Ubuntu 20.04
LTS or Debian 10. Users who are hurt by these removals can keep using
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS for a few years.

This bug depends on these other removals:
  gnome-python LP: #1739800
- gnome-sharp2 LP: #1771025

[Bug 1809517] [NEW] OS freezes after screen turns off and I return to account

2018-12-21 Thread Matthew
Public bug reported:

I recently upgraded to the newest 18.10 I have disabled Ubuntu from
requiring my password after the screen turns off due to inactivity but
I'm still taken to the landing page as if I needed to unlock my
computer. After sliding up or hitting enter the screen stays purple with
the taskbar visible. I can click the application shortcuts on the
taskbar but nothing happens afterwards. It doesn't happen every time,
only once out of every 5 to 10 times.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron 5559 64bit, graphics card is Intel HD Graphics
520 (Skylake GT2)

[Bug 1725955] Re: "Printer added" notification

2018-12-21 Thread Sebastian Thürrschmidt
Just a wild guess: Maybe avahi-daemon is involved somehow? For me at
least these annoying messages seem to have stopped completely after
throwing out the avahi-daemon service (for other reasons).

So you may try this:

systemctl disable avahi-daemon.socket avahi-daemon.service

If it helps, do this:

systemctl mask avahi-daemon.socket avahi-daemon.service
systemctl stop avahi-daemon.socket avahi-daemon.service

[Bug 1765304] Re: Ubuntu 18.04's ibus package breaks password fields in Firefox (by lowering & raising window whenever they're focused)

2018-12-21 Thread Felipe Castillo
Any news when this fix is going to reach bionic-updates? I don't want to deal
with enabling -proposed even if I can install a single package from it.
This comment
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ibus/+bug/1765304/comments/52) said
it'll take 7 days after being in -proposed before it can go into -updates, that
was December 11.
I know it's close to holidays and that might be the reason why it's taking
longer, otherwise, I just want to understand more how packages more from one
repo to the other

[Bug 1764409] Re: cosh and sinh issue

2018-12-21 Thread Paul White
Ubuntu 17.10 (artful) reached end-of-life on July 19, 2018.

I've tested using LibreOffice, an online site and the calculator in
Ubuntu 18.04. I don't see any discrepancies.

If you're still seeing an issue in a supported release such as Ubuntu
18.04 or 18.10 it would be nice if you could send a bug report to the
developers of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. When you have done so,
please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can
add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1809443] [NEW] Lock-screen does not enable one to switch keyboard layouts

2018-12-21 Thread Raphael Mankin
Public bug reported:

First, I am not quite sure where the problem lies: in the power manager,
gnome-screensaver or xfce-screensaver.

no way of switching keyboard layouts. I have to use a tty login to kill

[Bug 1809425] [NEW] [06cb:009a] Validity / Synaptic driver request

Here is a list with some of the models using this sensor:
