Thank you for your bug report, indeed upstream removed that mimetype
association because it would lean gnome-calendar to claim it can handle

2019-05-09 Thread Julien Olivier
I have gnome-calendar installed on Ubuntu 19.04, and gedit is still
displayed as the only available choice in the default app settings. The
workaround was to run the following: gio mime text/calendar
org.gnome.Calendar.desktop

Now gnome-calendar appears as the default (and only) calendar app...

[Bug 1828491] [NEW] gnome-calendar not listed as a calendar app in default app settings

2019-05-09 Thread Julien Olivier
Public bug reported:

Gnome-Calendar doesn't appear in the list of default apps for calendar
in gnome settings. This is probably due to the fact that, in the
.desktop file, the "text/calendar" mime type is not registered?

Anyway, a workaround exists: just type "gio mime text/calendar
org.gnome.Calendar.desktop".

[Bug 1828490] [NEW] no prompt when copy files from usb disk to Desktop

2019-05-09 Thread widon1104
Public bug reported:

I use ubuntu18.04, today I copy some big files from usb disk to Desktop,
there are no progress bar pop to tell me the copy progress, only a small
prompt from the icon of nautilus, then I close nautilus and wait, the
prompt from the icon disappear but the copy progress is still the
halfway.

I guess the newest nautilus still have this problem. gnome cut off a lot
of useful thing include the progress bar when copying files.

I suggest pop the progress bar when copy files.

[Bug 1365296] Re: No 'recent' files shown until a file is opened (due to gmenumodel changes)

2019-05-09 Thread Marek Blahuš
Evince 3.32.0 in Ubuntu 19.04:

Grid with recent files is shown when opening the viewer.

When already viewing a document, one must choose "New window" from the
single menu to open that "Recent documents" grid (and be able to choose
from there). I had long been unaware of that, because I either press
Ctrl+O for Open…, or I look in the menu for "Recent documents". In my
opinion, the "New window" approach is wrong for several reasons:

1. It is non-standard (new window in GEdit or Firefox is empty until you
open a document in it; new documents are empty; opening an existing
document is called "Open", not "New").

2. It adds an extra step for such a frequent task as Open… (need to
choose "New window", then locate the "Open…" button in that grid window,
navigate to it and click it).

3. It has no keyboard shortcut linked with it. Although I can and do use
Ctrl+O to go to directly to the Open… dialog, there is no shortcut for
"New window", so I can't access recent files by keyboard.

I suggest putting "Open…" and "Open recent" (with a submenu) back into
the application's menu again.

They should not. Selection of language packages is part of the
installation process, which you bypassed by manually debootstrapping; we
will not include a dependency on the English langpacks (introducing
overhead for all non-English users) to work around this.

Marking invalid for ubuntu-meta.

It sounds like there is still a bug in how the language options are
being displayed in the UI however, so the gnome task remains open.

2019-05-09 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Hello errors.ubuntu.com, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gedit into cosmic-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/3.30.2-0ubuntu0.18.10.3 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-cosmic to verification-done-cosmic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-cosmic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1828389] [NEW] Progress bar in nautilus icon not restored after wake up screen

2019-05-09 Thread paul janssen
Public bug reported:

Observed in Unbuntu 18.04 and Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS

When copying a substantial amount of files, that will take some time, a
progress bar appears in the nautilus desktop/toolbar icon.
In the event the copy task is not done, this progress bar is not restored after
the screen has gone to sleep and is woken up again.

For me this led to loss of data, as I assumed that the copy process was
done, and I started to remove the files I thought were copied.

I expected to see a progress bar in the nautilus icon, as I saw it before the
screen was put to sleep, since the copy action was not finished yet.
But the progress bar was gone. Just the bare nautilus ("Files") icon.

I checked if this was "normal" behavior for an icon with a progress bar.
For this I used the archive manager to compress a large folder.
Verfied that there appeared an archive manager icon containing a progress bar,
put the screen to sleep, woke it up again, checked the archive manager icon and
it still had a progress bar.

For the nautilus icon this is not the case, the progress bar in the icon
is not restored, even though the copy action is still ongoing.

Tried to resume, and was greeted with this (attached photo).

It then threw me back to the display manager (lightdm?) where I had to
enter password, then the mutter/window manager's unlock screen opened
and I had to enter password again. No crash this time but very odd
behaviour

[Bug 1826176] Re: Applications do not receive focus in Wayland sessions

2019-05-09 Thread Ppaalanen
Ubuntu 19.04 with all updates installed, using Ubuntu on Wayland desktop
session.

I believe I reproduced the issue:
- click sidebar to launch Firefox (Firefox gets keyboard focus without further
actions; ok)
- click sidebar to launch Files (keyboard focus remains on Firefox which is
below Files; fail)

Using Terminal instead of Files fails the same way.

Firefox is an X11 application, the rest are Wayland applications, so to
me it seems the issue is specifically about not moving focus from an old
X11 window to a new Wayland window. I cannot get it to fail otherwise,
and the failure seems to be reliable for me.

After upgrading to: libmutter-4-0: 3.32.1-2ubuntu1~19.04.1

I can no longer reproduce the issue I described above.

I would propose to change the tag from verification-needed-disco to
verification-done-disco.

[Bug 1828358] [NEW] 175% fractional scaling on X11 results in often unaccessible desktop after suspend / re-login

2019-05-09 Thread Petter Sundlöf
Public bug reported:

Having enabled fractional scaling on X11, I have a lot of issues with returning
to a hw-suspended session, re-login screen becomes a black rectangle, and
windows are being resized and there are black rectangular artifacts and a lot
of weird stuff with resizing going on. Sometimes I am able to reach the login
screen, but often I have to killall -HUP gnome-shell from the terminal. I will
try to attach X logs etc when this happens again.
Which are the most relevant log files to look into?
