[Bug 1834984] Re: gnome-shell freezes with 100% CPU when closing popup window
It is possible that apport crashes. Maybe next time force a core dump with: kill -ABRT PID so you don't lose it. [Bug 1834984] Re: gnome-shell freezes with 100% CPU when closing popup window
Hmm. I did that, and eventually it asked if I wanted to send a report, so I said yes ('S' for send), and then nothing happened except it created a zero-length file /var/crash/_usr_bin_gnome- shell.0.7619.hanging. A bit later I got a window saying that a report was ready to send, so I told it to continue, but it has vanished. [Bug 1834984] [NEW] gnome-shell freezes with 100% CPU when closing popup window
Public bug reported: Whenever I run Netbeans 11 (using either openjdk11) and (eg): 1. Open Tools / Plugins. 2. Go to Settings. 3. Click on 'Add'. 4. Click 'Cancel'. then gnome-shell freezes (except for the mouse), apparently indefinitely (I have left it for 30+ minutes.) I can login as another user via CTRL-ALT-F1 and kill the frozen session using loginctl. Sometimes this kills gnome-shell completely and I have to power cycle; other times I can switch back to the login with CTRL- ALT-F1 and continue. This also usually happens when I close any other popup windows in Netbeans. I have tried making the popup windows modal and non-modal, but it makes no difference. [Bug 263822] Re: RTL (right to left) support in terminal (BiDi)
GNOME Terminal 3.33.3 (VTE 0.57.3) implements BiDi support, according to the proposal at https://terminal-wg.pages.freedesktop.org/bidi/ . In alignment with Diego's comments and my responses to them, it implements multiple modes. Shuffling the characters according to the BiDi algorithm is enabled by default, this is required for simple utilities such as "echo", "cat" and friends. An escape sequence can turn off BiDi in the terminal, to be used if BiDi is performed by the application running inside. As mentioned, this won't magically make fullscreen apps (e.g. "mc") BiDi-aware, it's impossible without adding this feature to all those applications. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263822 Title: RTL (right to left) support in terminal (BiDi) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/vte/+bug/263822/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
