[Bug 1832875] Re: On-screen keyboard lacks several French layouts

2019-07-26 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Marco, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-shell into bionic-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
shell/3.28.4-0ubuntu18.04.2 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1838081] [NEW] Local printers crowd out installed printers in list

2019-07-26 Thread edgarswooth
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 18.04, the list of printers show in the control center seems
to include everything which is visible by Bonjour or some other
discovery service on the local network; there is no visual distinction
made between "installed" printers and available ones (this is also true
of print dialogs, but that's another issue).

For networks with many shared printers (many of which seem to be the
result of Apple sharing attached printers by default; see screenshot),
this results in an overwhelming flood of listed printers, which, worse,
is constantly shifting and jumping around as network state changes. This
makes it difficult to find previously installed printers in the list.

My suggestion would be to make a distinction in the UI between installed
and available printers (and perhaps also to have a listing that uses
less vertical space per discovered printer).

Really,system-config-printer CUPS window which is brought up by the
"Additional Printer Settings" button at the bottom is far more
functional, and in fact was the *only* way that I was able to add a new
printer via address alone.

[Bug 1759462] Re: Keyboard shortcuts not operational on 18.04

2019-07-26 Thread R P
Just switched to budgie (from lubuntu) and encountered this issue,
specifically while trying to fix the launcher shortcut for 'launch
terminal'. After trying a number of the suggested workarounds, including
the language/region ones, I dug into gnome settings and found that:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.default-applications.terminal exec x
-terminal-emulator

worked for me.

apport-collect done.
I also booted into a live session of Ubuntu 19.04 and the problem in fact does
not exist...but...
1) I'm not sure what system the live session boots into by default, Wayland or
X11,
2) as you can see the Alt-Tab task switcher is totally different from the 18.04
version!

[Bug 1837968] Re: GNOME Shell (X11) task switcher and LibreOffice

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

Upgraded to 18.04.2 LTS (GNOME Shell 3.28.4/X11) from 16.04 LTS (Unity)
and noticed that Alt-Tab task switcher doesn't update immediately with
  LibreOffice documents.

  Case in point:
I've got LibreOffice, Firefox and a Nautilus window with a directory of
LibreOffice spreadsheets open. When I Alt-Tab through this I see a generic
LibreOffice icon, a Firefox icon (and its open windows) and a Nautilus icon.
I'll then switch to the Nautilus window and open spreadsheet(s) and I see that
LibreOffice has loaded them in the background behind the Nautilus window. Now
when I Alt-Tab to switch to LibreOffice, there is not even a generic
LibreOffice icon anymore. If I wait a few seconds and Alt-Tab again, I then see
a LibreOffice Calc icon (and the open file windows).

Update: I restarted using Wayland instead of X11 and the problem seems
resolved, although LibreOffice defaults to a generic LO icon instead of
a specific Writer/Calc/Draw/etc. icon in the switcher. But Wayland is
not yet an option for me at present. Nevertheless it exists in GNOME
  Shell using X11.

- I haven't noticed similar behaviour with other programs with similar
- lags in the task switcher. This delay wasn't present (for me) before the
- upgrade/switch to GNOME Shell, so I'm assuming it's a Ubuntu/GNOME
- problem. I've also seen that similar problems have been reported in the
- past but for the most part they are quite old and I did not find this
- reported with the latest GNOME/Ubuntu 18.04LTS hence my new bug report.
- Thank you.

[Bug 1802574] Re: laptop screen never comes on after undock / sleep / open of laptop

2019-07-26 Thread David Baker
Was there ever a resolution to this. I am having much the same problem
using my Dell Latitude 7480 running Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS. In my case the
behaviour that causes problems is that I have the laptop docked and
suspend it - and then undock the laptop. When I attempt to restart the
laptop (undocked) I get the same behaviour reported by the OP - i.e.
laptop starts up and screen backlight comes on, but nothing is ever
displayed. I can switch to a virtual console and use that normally
including rebooting. There is nothing in /var/crash or on
http://errors.ubuntu.com/ . I have tried killing a range of X related
processes to see if I could get the GUI to restart - but without
success.

My guess would be that the system isn't coping with the dock (with 2
external monitors) being removed while it is suspended.

Let me know if any further system details would be useful.

[Bug 1727958] Re: Libreoffice writer / calc etc show as white icon in launcher when opened

2019-07-26 Thread Xavier Guillot
Yes, bug is still present, even in Ubuntu 19. 10 :

Whether any Writer or Calc document is opened, in the dock I have only
the generic white LibreOffice icon showing, the same for all of them -
instead of the blue one for Writer, the green for Calc etc...

[Bug 1837748] Re: Autologin not working after last update

2019-07-26 Thread Marcos Martinez
There are no changes between the files on the two version of the gdm3
package: 3.28.3-0ubuntu18.04.4 and the 3.28.3-0ubuntu. All the files
has the same md5sum so the the problem is somewhere else.
