[Bug 1845898] Re: Unable to set touchpad Edge Scrolling in Eoan

2019-10-17 Thread Erick Brunzell
Sorry I lumped so much text into one box. I must have been asleep at the
wheel.

I was just setting up another of these today with 18.04.1 and it's also
effected but I know Xenial worked fine out-of-box so I'm just guessing
(with inadequate studying) that the change to GNOME as default resulted
in slightly different dependencies?

It is indeed a low priority bug, or I'm almost hesitant to call it a
true bug since apparently it effects a very limited number of older
laptops.

2019-10-17 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I can't seem to reproduce the bug just yet but I also don't have as many
pages as you do...

As a first step please try uninstalling your non-Ubuntu extensions, as
we find extensions cause a large number of bugs and side-effects. So
it's usually helpful to try removing them first. That means uninstalling
them, don't just disable them...

Nvidia release notes for Linux, Solaris, and FreeBSD driver 440.26 [beta
release] [long-lived branch release] (2019-10-17) have a comment:

"Fixed a bug that could cause a blank screen on some DisplayPort
monitors when logging in to GNOME, if the nvidia-drm kernel module
parameter modeset=1 is specified."

I haven't tested this, I hope the beta driver gets packaged.

[Bug 1848563] [NEW] Application right-click bug in overview

2019-10-17 Thread Phillip Prado
Public bug reported:

When I right-click on an application in the overview, the page
automatically moves to the one below when I move the mouse to select one
of the menu options. This only affects pages 4 and below (the right-
click on applications on pages 1-3 works as expected), but it does not
affect the last page (in my case, page 6) presumably since there is no
page below it to scroll to. The bug happens every time I try, no matter
the application.

[Bug 1848549] [NEW] Gimp crashed randomly while using the stamp tool

2019-10-17 Thread decimus
Public bug reported:

Not sure how helpful this will be, but GIMP instructed me to do these
steps when it crashed. So here is the bug report.

I was using the stamp tool on a relatively small (~800x1200 px) JPG
image (without having added a transparency channel, if that is
relevant). It worked for some time without any issue, until suddenly
GIMP crashed on me.

[Bug 1842865] Re: Xubuntu 18.04 sometimes freezes when turned on on logo

2019-10-17 Thread Kai-Heng Feng
Would it be possible for you to do a kernel bisection?

First, find the last good -rc kernel and the first bad -rc kernel from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/

Then,
$ sudo apt build-dep linux
$ git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git
$ cd linux
$ git bisect start
$ git bisect good $(the good version you found)
$ git bisect bad $(the bad version found)
$ make localmodconfig
$ make -j`nproc` deb-pkg
Install the newly built kernel, then reboot with it.
If the issue still happens,
$ git bisect bad
Otherwise,
$ git bisect good
Repeat to "make -j`nproc` deb-pkg" until you find the commit that causes the
regression.
