[Bug 1856516] Re: Excessive memory usage in Wayland session

2019-12-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Looks like no extensions either...

Does the same leak occur in a Xorg session?

And can you please open an upstream bug at
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-shell/issues ?

[Bug 1856507] Re: [nvidia] Login screen doesn't show up after installing the Nvidia driver

2019-12-15 Thread Shahar Or
Thank you for the instructions, Daniel.

When nvidia-driver-435 is not installed, I can get to a console login
prompt from the login screen by pressing CTRL+ALT+F2 through 6. But when
nvidia-driver-435 is installed and I press any of those, I get to a
black screen with a blinking cursor.

Any clues on that, please?

[Bug 1853440] Re: Volume either 0 or 100% on Lenovo X1 Carbon G7

2019-12-15 Thread Hui Wang
There is a fix for this issue.

commit d2cd795c4ece1a24fda170c35eeb4f17d9826cbb
Author: Jaroslav Kysela
Date: Fri Nov 29 15:40:27 2019 +0100

ALSA: hda - fixup for the bass speaker on Lenovo Carbon X1 7th gen

The auto-parser assigns the bass speaker to DAC3 (NID 0x06) which
is without the volume control. I do not see a reason to use DAC2,
because the shared output to all speakers produces the sufficient
and well balanced sound. The stereo support is enough for this
purpose (laptop).

[Bug 1856425] Re: Gnome Shell crashs sporadically

2019-12-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1856491] Re: after suspend system freezes for a while after mouting new device

2019-12-15 Thread Daniel van Vugt
To diagnose this problem please collect a system log that covers just
the period of time of the suspend/resume/freezing...

1. Open a Terminal window and run:

   journalctl -f > journal.txt

2. Reproduce the freezing problem noting the time on the Gnome Shell
clock that it happened at.

3. In the Terminal hit Ctrl+C

4. Attach the file 'journal.txt' to this bug and tell us the exact time
the freeze happened at.

P.S. Please also try uninstalling extension 'temperature@xtranophilist'
as it is not one that we support directly.

Thanks. I didn't see the upstream info. This was resolved in a previous
release, and I assumed this was the source.

Have a good day.

[Bug 1856495] [NEW] Gnome-power-manager throttles apps when the battery hits 50%, and sends a low power notification at 50%, instead of at 10% or lower.

2019-12-15 Thread Seija Kijin
Public bug reported:

Simply, whenever the battery goes less than 50%, the apps start
throttling, taking longer to respond, etc. This is likely the work of
gnome-power-manager giving low battery notifications at 50% when it
should be 10% or below.

** Description changed:

Simply, whenever the battery goes less than 50%, the apps start
throttling, taking longer to respond, etc. This is likely the work of
gnome-power-manager giving low battery notifications at 50% when it
  should be 10% or below.

[Bug 1856479] [NEW] Document Viewer displays the first page on the right side instead of the left when I select "Dual" in the view menu, despite the PDF being multiple pages (more than 2)

2019-12-15 Thread Seija Kijin
Public bug reported:

When I opened a PDF in Document Viewer, and then set the view mode to
"dual", I noticed how the pdf application put the first page on the
right side, which does not look as good as putting the page on the left
side and page 2 on the right side.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the attached PDF in Document Viewer
2. Set the view to Dual
3. Notice the odd number page is to the right when it should be to the left by
default.

[Bug 1856476] [NEW] can only write to root level of smb share

2019-12-15 Thread Jochen
Public bug reported:

I have a smb share with guest access set up on an OpenMediaVault box.
>From a Windows 10 PC I can read and write the whole folder tree of this
share, without password. On my Ubuntu box, I can do the same using
smbclient, with null password.

However when using Gnome Files to access the share, choosing "anonymous"
connect, I can only create or write files in the top level folder.
Attempts to create or write to a subfolder result in a "Permission
denied" error. Reading works across the whole folder tree.

The same happens when using the gio command line interface (here trying to
create folders):
$ gio list smb://herkules.local/gvfs-bug
new1
$ gio mkdir smb://herkules.local/gvfs-bug/new2
$ gio list smb://herkules.local/gvfs-bug
new1
new2
$ gio mkdir smb://herkules.local/gvfs-bug/new2/new-sub
gio: smb://herkules.local/gvfs-bug/new2/new-sub: Permission denied

[Bug 1856465] [NEW] Apport icon did not appear in gnome even though it was running and displaying windows.

2019-12-15 Thread Seija Kijin
Public bug reported:

When I attempted to send a bug report for gnome-control-center via
terminal, the Apport window appeared saying "Collecting information".
However, the gnome side-dock did not display the apport logo at all,
only the system monitor, systems-settings, and every other running
program with windows being displayed.

I expected the Apport icon to appear on the side-dock. It never did, and
I was unable to see the report or send it as a result, except by opening
Notifications and clicking "Ubuntu is ready".

This issue occurred at around 11:54 AM, EDT, on December 15, 2019.

With Crossfading enabled a song can't be paused after starting fading
out. (while the Player already show's the next song).
+
+ The easiest way to reproduce this bug is to turn the crossfade on and
+ set the time to 60 seconds. Once the song gets to 60 seconds before the
+ end it starts the next song. Press pause. The song it is fading into
+ pauses but the one that is fading out now keeps playing until it is all
+ the way done.
+
+ The expected behaviour would for both songs to stop and then for both to
+ resume when you press play again.

** Summary changed:
