[Bug 1868925] [NEW] Workspaces not spanning displays

2020-03-24 Thread Haydn Jones
Public bug reported:

Windows are not spanning displays. When in the GNOME overview (not
actually sure what it is called, when you press the super key it shows
you all your windows in the current workspace and shows the various
workspaces as well) ONLY the windows in that work space appear, but when
you go back to the normal GNOME view the windows not on the primary
monitor appear (as if workspaces were set to not span displays).

I apologize about my confusing description--I do not know the GNOME
terminology. If clarification is needed let me know.

[Bug 1868924] [NEW] a desktop launcher icon can not be activated by focusing and pressing enter

2020-03-24 Thread Martin Vysny
Public bug reported:

I have a desktop launcher icon which launches a shell script which auto-
starts apps that I use. I tend to click on the launcher icon with my
mouse, then press Enter to run the launcher. This worked well on Ubuntu
19.10 but stopped working on Ubuntu 20.04. Double-clicking on the
launcher icon correctly launches the launcher, and I'm happy with the
workaround. Yet, maybe something to look into. Thank you kindly :)

[Bug 1868896] [NEW] 20.04 items won't stay minimized

2020-03-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I just ran all of the updates for 20.04 on two machines, and both
machines experience the same issue.

Items do not appear to stay "minimized". For instance, you can minimize
Thunderbird, and it appears to re-maximize itself. However, you cannot
click on anything in the maximized window, but you can re-minimize it
(that button does work), then click the dock to bring it back out and it
functions properly.

[Bug 1868911] Re: exiting overview on empty workspace causes windows from other workspaces to be visible

2020-03-24 Thread Paul Collins
That bug sounds like a different problem to this one. Also, it was
reported against 3.35.91. I did not observe this behaviour with gnome-
shell 3.35.91-1ubuntu2.

** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => New

** Tags added: apport-collected third-party-packages wayland-session

** Description changed:

  $ dpkg-query -W gnome-shell
  gnome-shell 3.36.0-2ubuntu1
  $ lsb_release -rc
  Release:20.04
  Codename:   focal
  $ _

  When I toggle in and out of the overview on an empty workspace, windows from
other workspaces appear. They are not interactable, so this seems more like a
rendering bug than the windows really being teleported to another workspace.
Switching back to another workspace that has windows causes the ghost windows
to disappear. Opening a window in the empty workspace makes it appear on top
of the ghost windows, and I have to switch to another workspace and back again
to make only the new window be visible.

  I am using the vanilla "GNOME" session type. I did not observe this
  behaviour with gnome-shell 3.35.91-1ubuntu2.

- As well as the annoyance factor, of course there's a privacy angle to
- showing random windows at surprising times.

[Bug 1868911] Re: exiting overview on empty workspace causes windows from other workspaces to be visible

2020-03-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This sounds like it might be https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-
shell/-/issues/2259

If you don't agree then please execute the following command only once,
as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

apport-collect 1868911

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

[Bug 1868853] Re: GNOME extension “Internet Radio” stops when the screen goes blank

2020-03-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Unless I am mistaken, it appears the "Internet Radio" extension is not
installed from the Ubuntu Archive (deb packages) so bugs in it cannot be
tracked here.

Instead please discuss the issue at:

[Bug 1868911] [NEW] exiting overview on empty workspace causes windows from other workspaces to be visible

2020-03-24 Thread Paul Collins
Public bug reported:

$ dpkg-query -W gnome-shell
gnome-shell 3.36.0-2ubuntu1
$ lsb_release -rc
Release:20.04
Codename:   focal
$ _

As well as the annoyance factor, of course there's a privacy angle to
showing random windows at surprising times.

** Affects: gnome-shell (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1868614] [NEW] Login starts at native resolution before visibly switching to the configured resolution

2020-03-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

This happens on Ubuntu 19.10 and still happening on Ubuntu 20.04

Let me give a little background

My laptop (Razer Stealth) has a built in display with default 3840 by 2160.
I currently have it set up to 1920 by 1080, as it drains the battery faster
using the higher resolution.

At login, the resolution show at 1920 by 1080, but after entering the
password, the screen changes the resolution back to the default (3840 by
2160), but once the desktop of the user loads it changes back to 1920 by
1080.

The change of resolution can be noticeable because the size of the mouse
pointer becomes much smaller when logging in.

[Bug 1866419] Re: gnome-shell displays date incorrectly for nl_NL locale

2020-03-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
I know the whole process can be very slow and frustrating. The good news
is that with a fix proposed you've already done everything you can do.

Unfortunately I can't help with Dutch language issues, and I have no
power to approve and land upstream fixes anyway. But maybe seb128 can
help so I have subscribed him here.

[Bug 1868853] [NEW] GNOME extension “Internet Radio” stops when the screen goes blank

2020-03-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

My Ubuntu version is 18.04 (fresh install more than one year ago). GNOME
version is 3.28.2

I installed the "Internet Radio" Gnome shell extension a few days ago
(using Software / Add-ons / Shell Extensions).

gnome-control-center:
a) automatic locking is OFF.
b) automatic screen blanking is ON after 5 minutes. So after 5 minutes of
inactivity "Internet Radio" stops because the screen is blanked after 5 minutes.

For me this is not normal because radio should continue to play even if
the screen goes blank.

I did not find any setting which could change this behaviour.

Best regards,

[Bug 1798091] Re: thumbnailer cannot create tempfiles (with apparmor denials)

2020-03-24 Thread mike-g2
I'm running MATE 18.04.4 and have this problem.
The fix above needs to be tweaked slightly for my system and I just wanted to
note how. Basically, the tmp file names can vary between Ubuntu flavors and to
get the right one you need to consult your /var/log/syslog file. Here's a
snippet from mine.

Mar 24 12:55:01 HOST kernel: [168408.433315] audit: type=1400

file
owner /tmp/{,.}mate_desktop_thumbnail.* w,

[Bug 1866841] Re: Add chrome-gnome-shell to ubuntu-desktop recommends

2020-03-24 Thread AsciiWolf
Martin, the new Extensions manager does not support installing new
extensions. It just contains instructions for users to open the
extensions.gnome.org page in their web browser. The functionality to
browse/install extensions via Extensions manager will be added in future
GNOME releases, but it is highly unlikely it will happen in 3.36.
Please, reconsider this. Not adding chrome-gnome-shell to the default
install in Ubuntu 20.04 will basically make it impossible for (non-
expert) users to install new GNOME Shell extensions.

  * control: Build against gnome-desktop 3.36 and break old gnome-shell. So we
get dependencies on libgnome-desktop-3-19. Otherwise we get two different
versions of gnome-desktop loaded into GNOME Shell, which crashes. Break
old gnome-shell for the inverse reason - it needs to be upgraded otherwise
we get the mismatch the other way around.

mutter (3.36.0-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release
+ Fix placement of popup windows in multi-monitor setups
+ Fix invisible mouse cursor on some hardware
+ Updated translations

mutter (3.35.92-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release
+ Add side channel for starting required X11 services
+ Allow remote desktop services to inhibit animations
+ Avoid flicker when (un)redirecting windows
+ Fix clipping glitches in long text entries
+ Fix visibility of initially hidden windows
+ Implement scaled/transformed hardware cursors
+ Let BindConstraints update the preferred size
+ Make check-alive timeouts configurable
+ Make each stage view correspond to a single CRTC
+ Make Xwayland startup asynchronous
+ Ping windows on every window focus
+ Remove overhead from hot code paths
+ Support synchronized wayland popup moving
+ Update screen-cast code to PipeWire 0.3 API
+ Use DMA buffers for screencasting if possible
  * d/p/*: Rebase
  * rules: Disable remote-desktop temporarily. This now requires pipewire 0.3
which is not packaged yet and needs to be worked on
  * control: Bump wayland-protocols dep to 1.19 per meson.build
  * debian/libmutter-6-0.symbols: Add new symbols for this release. One symbol
which was introduced in .90 was dropped; -6's ABI is not stable yet.

[Bug 1865907] Re: Loading IM context type 'ibus' failed

2020-03-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package ibus - 1.5.22-2ubuntu1

---
ibus (1.5.22-2ubuntu1) focal; urgency=medium

  * Merge from Debian unstable (LP: #1865907). Remaining changes:
- d/p/ubuntu-disable-trigger.patch
- d/p/ubuntu-forward-panel-properties.patch
- d/p/ubuntu-unicode-keybinding.patch
- d/rules, d/control: use dh_translations
- Add breaks for older libglib2.0-0 releases which do not contain
  the GDBusServer fix for Qt applications

ibus (1.5.22-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  [ Changwoo Ryu ]
  * Revert the emoji-test.txt embedding and use emoji-test.txt in
unicode-data (>= 13.0.0-2), which ships this file (#953795).
  * debian/patches/libexec-fhs2-compat.patch: Provide compatibility with
FHS 2.x built ibus engine packages, after moving to /usr/libexec
  * debian/rules: Set GVFS_DISABLE_FUSE=1 while running tests, to prevent
gvfsd from mounting FUSE filesystems.
  * debian/patches/remove-glib-check-version.patch: Do not check glib
runtime version on gtk immodule init. (Closes: #954207)
  * debian/ibus.bug-script: Updated
- Use /bin/sh instead of /bin/bash
- Remove locale/shell envvars which are redundant (See #946326)
- Add more settings from GSettings, localectl, setxkbmap and ~/.Xmodmap
  (Closes: #942470)

  [ Laurent Bigonville ]
  * Move the daemons to /usr/libexec now that's allowed in the policy

ibus (1.5.22-1) unstable; urgency=high

  [ Changwoo Ryu ]
  * debian/lintian-overrides: Ignore lintian info
hardening-no-fortify-functions on /usr/bin/ibus-daemon. It uses
readlink(2) which is not protectable.
  * debian/copyright: Correct copyright years and add new files
  * Fix FTBFS with unicode-data 13.0 (Closes: #953775)
- debian/emoji/emoji-test.txt: Added in the source, downloaded from
  https://www.unicode.org/Public/emoji/13.0/.
- debian/README.source: Add information on it
- debian/copyright: Add Unicode license
- debian/rules: Add --with-unicode-emoji-dir flag
  * debian/control: Update Build-Depends
- The upstream requires GTK 3.12.0

  [ Laurent Bigonville ]
  * debian/control: Add libglib2.0-doc to the Build-Depends-Indep. This
will fix the link between the ibus documentation and the GLib one

[Bug 1841646] Re: White text on white background for HTML e-mail

2020-03-24 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Closing the default target since it's fixed in 19.10, I've uploaded a
bionic SRU now

** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided => High

** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu)
   Status: Confirmed => Fix Released

** Changed in: evolution (Ubuntu)
 Assignee: Jeremy Bicha (jbicha) => Sebastien Bacher (seb128)

** Description changed:

- When viewing an HTML e-mail which does not define a default color for
- the text, Evolution renders the e-mail with white text on a white
- background.
+ * Impact
+ Using some themes viewing an HTML e-mail which does not define a default
color for the text, Evolution renders the e-mail with white text on a white
background.
+
+ * Test case

  This only seems to affect the Adwaita Dark and Yaru Dark themes.
  Switching to Adwaita or any other non-dark theme, the background is
  white, and the text is black.
+
+ Select a such theme and try to view an HTML email
+
+ * Regression potential
+
+ Check that html rendering is still fine with the default theme and
+ others
+
+ --

  Prior to the updates that landed this week, the text use to be black for
  items such as "Retrieving message " and inline calendar
  event details. These have now changed to white text for dark themes,
  which is correct, but might have also introduced the white text on white
  background issue for HTML mail messages that don't define a default text
  color.

2020-03-24 Thread Martin Wimpress
Following a discussion with the Desktop team in #ubuntu-desktop on 24
March 2020 at 14:47 GMT, we decide to not ship the default in the distro
and kindly request the OEM carry their own gscheme override for OEM that
require this compliance.

This bug is still present because the change that Matthias did was
unintentionally undone the following week. So it was not shipped as it
should have been, as part of gnome-software 3.35.91, which is the

[Bug 1866419] Re: gnome-shell displays date incorrectly for nl_NL locale

2020-03-24 Thread Michael Steenbeek
The GNOME people have left the merge request unanswered for two weeks,
only to ask me to go onto a mailing list (for which the server doesn't
work). When I politely pointed out that it wasn't very inviting to
outside contributors, I didn't get a very satisfying answer, to say the
least. I have tried to follow the project's procedures as best as I
could, but they're making it almost impossible to get this very simple
fix in.

I'm a bit at a loss as to what I should do now. The whole experience has
left me a bit frustrated.
