[Bug 1866974] Re: The Diffie-Hellman prime sent by the server is not acceptable
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1872778 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872778 Okay, well after entirely too much excitement, I made some progress. After much googling, I found that this error message refers to a problem with GNOME so one can get around it by going into console mode, which I did with alt-shift-F3. I then was able to edit the config file and worked out that the problem was that contrary to the appearance of the example commands, the line starting with "default-priority" needs to all be on one line. After I made that change, I was able to reboot back into GNOME. With the security level lowered, the GNOME Online function of the Settings app now worked! I am now fully able to get e-mail from this account. Given how fraught this all was, may I suggest that someone address this issue? [Bug 1882781] [NEW] Gnome 3.36.2 leaking in 20.04
Public bug reported: I've noticed lately that the performance of the UI in Gnome 3.36.2 seems to decay with uptime. The most obvious manifestation is that over time, window animations have a delay and feel "sticky". Applications themselves seem unaffected. When I tell gnome to switch workspaces, there's about a half second to full second delay before the animation happens. This also applies to things like pressing the meta key to show all my windows or pressing alt-tab. Each one appears to share the same delay. I'm running a fairly unremarkable desktop setup using vanilla gnome on Ubuntu 20.04. My research on this issue seems to indicate that there were memory leak issues in 18.xx versions of the OS, but that those were supposedly fixed. The only thing I can conclude at this point is that a new issue has emerged, there was a regression, or the original fix didn't work. The animation delay is sapping productivity to the point that I eventually have to reboot my system. The gnome-shell process definitely leaks over time as it starts around ~300mb and if left for a day will sit at ~600mb or more. --- Regarding my overall hardware and nominal state of my system, I'm experiencing this issue even as I'm creating this question. I'm running the stock/vanilla gnome desktop, not the ubuntu customized one. My system has 32gb of RAM, only 6gb of which are in use currently. My CPU usage fluctuates across 12 vcores up to 20% max. I have an RTX 2060 for my GPU. At least as best as I can tell, I see no issue with the amount of resources gnome-shell is getting right now. --- There also appear to be other accounts of this same issue building up since the release of 20.04. It's clear that this is a widespread issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/gnome/comments/fxffcd/gnome_shell_336_in_ubuntu_2004_still_leaks/ I would treat this with some urgency as for regular users this bug renders the OS completely unusable. [Bug 1878351] Re: System shutdown directly by pressing power button and releasing immediately on Dell Vostro 5301
The shutdown is caused by the commit of https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=688076. gnome-session-bin handle the first shutdown request, and change to QUERY_END_SESSION_PHASE, but the second shutdown request arrive before it open the endSessionDialog, and user not yet confirm to shutdown. The second shutdown request is handled in QUERY_END_SESSION_PHASE, which goes to prepare shutdown by the commit mentioned above. Therefore, I create a patch to check if the shutdown has been confirmed by the user then process the prepare shutdown. It seems can fix this issue. ** Bug watch added: bugzilla.gnome.org/ #688076 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=688076 ** Patch added: "Patch which verified OK on the platform has 2 key event with single press" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/1878351/+attachment/5381991/+files/check-if-logout-forced-before-perform-shutdown.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1878351 Title: System shutdown directly by pressing power button and releasing immediately on Dell Vostro 5301 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1878351/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1881115] Re: shift-delete not handled
Sorry for the confusion. I can see you're using flashback, so this is a nautilus bug. That said, nautilus-desktop is not being maintained. We use gnome-shell- extension-desktop-icons in ubuntu-session now. And since that extension happens to have an upstream bug for this same problem we can track it here too. ** Description changed: - Hi, - - i've noticed 2 problems on desktop (gnome-flashback), which is imho - handled by nautilus... - - - contextmenu (rightclick) is not localized (german environment, menu is english) - - shift-delete does nothing, in menu there is only "move to trash" (+open +properties), no way to delete files without trash + shift-delete does nothing, in menu there is only "move to trash" (+open + +properties), no way to delete files without trash regards Frank ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: nautilus 1:3.36.2-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.4.0-31.35-generic 5.4.34 Uname: Linux 5.4.0-31-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CurrentDesktop: GNOME-Flashback:GNOME Date: Thu May 28 14:12:30 2020 GsettingsChanges: - b'org.gnome.nautilus.preferences' b'always-use-location-entry' b'true' - b'org.gnome.nautilus.preferences' b'default-folder-viewer' b"'list-view'" - b'org.gnome.nautilus.list-view' b'default-column-order' b"['name', 'size', 'type', 'owner', 'group', 'permissions', 'where', 'date_modified', 'date_modified_with_time', 'date_accessed', 'recency', 'starred', 'detailed_type']" + b'org.gnome.nautilus.preferences' b'always-use-location-entry' b'true' + b'org.gnome.nautilus.preferences' b'default-folder-viewer' b"'list-view'" + b'org.gnome.nautilus.list-view' b'default-column-order' b"['name', 'size', 'type', 'owner', 'group', 'permissions', 'where', 'date_modified', 'date_modified_with_time', 'date_accessed', 'recency', 'starred', 'detailed_type']" InstallationDate: Installed on 2020-04-27 (31 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 20.04 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20200423) ProcEnviron: - TERM=xterm-256color - PATH=(custom, no user) - XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= - LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 - SHELL=/bin/bash + TERM=xterm-256color + PATH=(custom, no user) + XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= + LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: nautilus UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) usr_lib_nautilus: ** Also affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1881115 Title: shift-delete not handled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1881115/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1882558] Re: desktop - missing templates to create new files
gnome-flashback uses nautilus, which is 'Won't Fix' because desktop support has been deprecated there. I do not believe that this problem is specific to my system. I just created a VM and did a fresh install of 20.04, and I can reproduce the issue there as well. Here are the steps I followed: 1. Created an Ubuntu 64 bit VM in VirtualBox 2. Downloaded the latest 20.04 image from Ubuntu.com 3. Installed it (all defaults, only clicked "next" in the install wizard) 4. Yes, I start gedit with my own user. I tried with `sudo gedit`, as well as with another, freshly created non-admin user. The issue is present with both. Nautilus is correctly saving preferences.
