[Bug 1878351] Re: System shutdown directly by pressing power button and releasing immediately on Dell Vostro 5301
I propose two commit to upstream: 1. shutdown without asking if and only if the logout mode has switched to force. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-session/-/merge_requests/46 Rejected by the maintainer, since the implementation is too aggressive, and he thinks it is an workaround. 2. add 1s debounce for handling power key event https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-settings-daemon/-/merge_requests/180 The 1s value was provided by ODM experiment, maintainer has not reviewed yet. Both commit can eliminate the original issue, but @khfeng found that the intel-hid wrongly handle the power button event for very long time since bionic, and he'd like to wait Intel's input. [Bug 1882880] Re: FP Auth enroll screen issue: Max limit not defined
Hi Sebastian yes you are right. We can club this issue in the bug #1882878. The reason I did put it out separately is because I did not want to miss out this issue. In windows the GUI doesn't have any options like what we have here like each finger is displayed in the GUI for enrollment. Windows internally keeps counts of how many fingers are enrolled. If 10 fingers are enrolled then it will shoot an error saying maximum limit is reached. Here in linux GUI what we can do is we can only display the remaining fingers to be enrolled as active and already enrolled fingers can be grayed out in GUI. [Bug 1882878] Re: The user panel let you enroll the same finger several times
Hi Sebastian, I am just referring s per windows implementation here. So the user may try to enroll the same finger several times and since the templates are stored in device(Not the host) it may run out of memory. Hence this duplicate check is necessary for those devices which stores the templates in device memory itself. The other thing is you need to provide an API in the libfprint to do the duplicate check when enrolling a new finger. So this command goes to the device all through and device itself sees whether the finger is already enrolled or not. Depending on this output further enrollment process can be continued or a warning message can be displayed(As in windows). You can refer the windows WBF API's for the same. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1882878 Title: The user panel let you enroll the same finger several times To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-control-center/+bug/1882878/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1752680] Re: Night light does not work after resume from suspend or unlock.
Sounds like a different bug, maybe? This bug looks more like night light going off when it should be on. Though I also notice the upstream developers are planning on moving the functionality out of gnome-settings-daemon and into mutter, which makes sense to me... The problem right now is that everything about monitors is managed by mutter _except_ for colour profiles (which I assume includes night light). So it may become confused as those multiple separate processes try to manage the same display hardware. gnome- settings-daemon sets a colour profile or night light, and then mutter turns the screen off and on according to power management. So the former colour profile setting might get forgotten. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/1283 ** Bug watch added: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues #1283 https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/1283 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1752680 Title: Night light does not work after resume from suspend or unlock. [Bug 1790814] Re: Duplicate entries caused by debs and snaps offering the same application
It's a bug because app-store are used by less-techy user who then don't notice what kind of package they have just installed. Or don't know why they should prefer one over the other. Then they wonder why their (un-noticed snap)app can't access such folder or usb-thumbs …which is another problem. That wouldn't matter if there were no differences in usage between a .deb and a snap package ( or else ) but there are ( permissions, for example ). 1. Add the packaging type to name of app https://snapforum.s3.dualstack.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/original/2X/d/d3e2afef29ed6c82f7f639c45a9710412f196d9d.jpeg and stop putting the legacy .deb package at the end. Its fair position is at first or second in the list. 2. Only show one item for an app ( instead of one item by type of packaging ) and then give the choice of packaging type on the installation page https://snapforum.s3.dualstack.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/original/2X/4/4492aa0ca29706dec898db61cddfe371b4c18685.jpeg Better solution in my opinion. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1790814 Title: Duplicate entries caused by debs and snaps offering the same application To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-software/+bug/1790814/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
