Please:

1. Run this command:

   gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.shell > settings.txt

2. Open a Terminal window and run 'top'. Now reproduce the problem
again. While the problem is happening does 'top' report any process
using very high CPU?

[Bug 1782703] Re: Unable to download updates from "extensions.gnome.org"

2020-06-28 Thread rtimai
I began having the identical symptoms described several weeks ago.
Multiple connectivity error message windows at the *initial* startup of
GNOME-software. This occurs on waking from suspend, and not from restart
or shutdown-start. GNOME-software is attempting to update its listings
in the background before networking is restored upon awake-after-
suspend. Trivial, but an annoyance nontheless, because this was not
happening before (that I remember, anyway.)

Is there a way to time-out these error windows, to make them behave like
Notifications?

[Bug 1882410] Re: GNOME Shell crashed with signal 5

[70766.734900] eva1 gnome-shell[3790]: == Stack trace for context
0x55c1921056f0 ==
(stack trace missing from the log)

which is a tiny improvement.

The fact that GInotifyFileMonitor is mentioned makes me suspect the
problem is the Desktop Icons extension. Please try disabling 'Desktop

[Bug 1882462] Re: Displays wake up pre-maturely (likely driven by notification)

2020-06-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Looking at the most recent log in comment #6 again, that was back when
you had fwupd and boltd running. I wonder if you could provide a system
log from a night where those were disabled?

  journalctl -b0 > journal.txt

I'm still particularly skeptical of fwupd because it appears that caused
a redetection of your Dell monitor at Jun 12 06:17:31, which probably
also turned the monitor on.

[Bug 1885459] [NEW] Nautilus does not ask for ssh login credentials

2020-06-28 Thread Elias Aarnio
Public bug reported:

When trying to connect a server using ssh:// or sftp:// no user/password
information is asked and I get error saying "Access Denied".

Expected behaviour: user/password would be asked.

I tested also with 20.04 live USB - same behaviour.

Same erroneus action also when trying to use Déja-Dup over SSH: no login
information is asked -> Access Denied -message.

SSH connection to the same server using CLI works OK on both installed
system and Live session.

[Bug 1885452] [NEW] pc freezes and crashes during accountservice upgrade on fresh ubuntu focal fossa install

2020-06-28 Thread Dan Ste
Public bug reported:

After a fresh install of Focal Fossa and running sudo apt update and
sudo apt upgrade, when the upgrade reaches "setting up accountsservice"
the PC freezes. After a reboot, the login screen did not appear anymore.
This was reproducible on another computer (laptop). I reinstalled Ubuntu
and put the package on hold. Later, I found that by installing and
activating lightdm, this problem was remediated. Found this solution
accidentally, while I was looking to correct login screen loops after I
installed the nvidia drivers. This is unrelated, since the laptop does
not have nvidia.

[Bug 1881458] Re: Playback aborts when a download is started, printing "server does not support seeking"

2020-06-28 Thread Jurgen Schellaert
I think this ticket can be closed, at least for now.

Since I replaced all my mp3 format streams with aac streams, I have not
experienced as much as a stutter. Then again, for all I know, the actual
reason may be a recent be a kernel update...

Anyway, thanks for your assistance!

[Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%

2020-06-28 Thread Bradley Pearce
@Treviño

Your ppa work for me in terms of proportional, fractional scaling to
125%.

My configuration is Ubuntu 20.04 x86_64

GeForce GTX 1060

440 tested driver

Log attached - Thank you for your work on this.

Text aliasing is not correct, there is some sub-pixel bulging that
appears like a larger texture area is being rendered and scaled down
incorrectly (perhaps bilinear scaling down to the output resolution).
If this is the case, it is a good workaround, but not suitable for
professional workflows. If we know roughly what the issue is, I am
happy to test/look at code etc.

Re: my comment about this not getting past test. If the testers are
using a different driver set, then to say the (prop) drivers are tested
is not really representative; I know a lot of people are donating their
time, and I know we can't test all the configurations - but this is core
functionality.

[Bug 1879968] Re: copy/paste still sometimes fails in LibreOffice on mutter 3.36.2

2020-06-28 Thread Tim Passingham
Marcello - yes indeed.

For me it is worst with spreadsheets, where I copy a lot of data
regularly. For instance when keeping a record of regular measurements, I
copy the previous item's formulae each time. I only started to realise
that a lot of my sheets were corrupted in early April.

With text I usually realise it is wrong quite quickly. With data and
formulae it can be much less obvious.

I was, once, in the IT business, so am not reluctant to get involved
with reporting issues, and am also happy to test. Unfortunately I don't
know nearly enough about modern systems to be able to debug or fix them
(now where's that GA SPC 16/50?).

I fail to understand why this is not being regarded as a critical bug.
I hope that spreadsheets on Ubuntu are not ever being used for important
stuff, are they?

[Bug 1879968] Re: copy/paste still sometimes fails in LibreOffice on mutter 3.36.2

2020-06-28 Thread Marcello Nuccio
It's not always easy to check that the pasted text it's the correct one,
then this is a data corruption bug. That is why I think this is a
critical bug.

Worse, the most affected users of this bug (non-technical ones) are very
unlikely to ever report it. For example, I am a programmer and I only
discovered this bug when my wife, a non-technical user, reported it to
me. She started to see cut and paste problems with Ubuntu 19.04, almost
one year ago, but at the same time, I have never had any problem,
because, as a programmer, I mostly use different software. My wife has
never filled a bug report, as most non-technical users (I think). Then I
don't know how to raise awareness of this problem.

2020-06-28 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I am running into full system freezes while using 20.04, i did a clean install
and the issue is still there it will randomly freeze the whole system sometimes
the mouse pointer is moving.
Ends up hard resetting by holding the power button to restart the pc.
I am using AMD Ryzen 5 2500U , and while it boots up it has showed some gpu
error while booting ubuntu. Some error realating to kernel is showed , amd gpu
