[Bug 1896102] Re: gnome-shell crashes together with emacs-gtk regularly

2020-09-17 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921,
reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 1896138] [NEW] nautilus doesn't display thumbnails on network share

2020-09-17 Thread Tessa
Public bug reported:

I've got nautilus configured to display thumbnails on network shares
(prefs -> search&preview -> thumbnails -> all files), but in 20.04 it
never shows thumbnails on my samba network shares. Not sure what broke
since previous ubuntu releases, but it's definitely not working now.
local thumbnail generation and display works fine still, so there isn't
an issue with the thumbnail generation itself as far as I can tell.

[Bug 1896111] [NEW] keyboard and mouse input stops working in the gnome shell

2020-09-17 Thread chr0no2
Public bug reported:

I've recorded the bug and uploaded privately to youtube:

In this video you can see the steps to recreate the bug:
-> https://youtu.be/gSEonR2hREs

Steps (in this case):
- Make an app folder
- Open it
- Drag the application outside the folder
- Without closing the folder, right click on the application icon, and then
click in an empty space inside the folder. Repeat this until the folder closes
itself automatically.
- Now any program will ignore the keyboard shortcuts, I installed "screenkey"
so you can see that the keyboard is working normally.

In this one you can see nautilus ignoring all my input (keyboard shortcuts and
mouse clicks), this behavior is present in all the other apps:
-> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSBebjHZUkU

Also, I can recover the control if I click on the top right button, the
activities overview, but everuthing stops working if I exit the activities
overview:
-> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqLR8lVLxRM

[ The workaround was logging out and logging back again. ]

What I expected to happen:
-> I can take the app out of the folder.

What happened instead:
-> gnome-shell (and all the other programs) started to ignore all my input.

[Bug 1896102] [NEW] gnome-shell crashes together with emacs-gtk regularly

Regularly emacs-gtk crashes (reported separately in LP: #1896100) and
with it gnome-shell crashes as well. Since those two crashes happen at

[Bug 1882291] Re: Gnome Shell clock is truncated/corrupt on the right side

As a potential workaround I've noticed that changing to a fixed-width

changed using a custom gnome-shell.css, containing e.g.:

#panel .clock-display { font-family: Ubuntu Mono; font-size: 15px; }

This is happening on 2 different PC's.

After power up I have to open the tweak tool fonts>scaling factor. I
have to click down one then back up. then the font looks correct.
Other wise everything is larger than it should be.

[Bug 1891270] Re: Iranian calendar shows in Azerbaijani language

2020-09-17 Thread esmaeelE
This one also affects me. As you can see in the attached picture during
installation internet connection stablished and `apt` connetcted to the
`http://ir.archive.ubuntu.com/ focal main amd64`.

I select English for setup language but after that choose Tehran/IRAN as
location.

I think locale not correctly set when select Tehran/IRAN in ubiquity.

This is what return from locale command.

$ locale

LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=
LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC=az_IR
LC_TIME=az_IR
LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY=az_IR
LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER=az_IR
LC_NAME=az_IR
LC_ADDRESS=az_IR
LC_TELEPHONE=az_IR
LC_MEASUREMENT=az_IR
LC_IDENTIFICATION=az_IR
LC_ALL=

As @Danial Behzadi said, It should be `fa_IR UTF-8` as IRAN official language
is Farsi/Persian not Azeri.

+1 from me

Same dialog as #3

Set to update, went to make a cup of tea, came back to the locked
screen.

Entered system password to login, then saw the dialog which wouldn't go
away.

Like above, Alt + F2 then entering r fixed it
